  • really good video!

  • Where did you purchase your bread knife?

  • @surfettekw we used to carry them at Breadtopia but don't any more. Do a search on "fiddle bow bread knife" and you'll find it at a bunch of places.

  • looks soggy

  • why do you need potato flakes?

  • would this recipe need to be modified for a bread machine or is it good to go?

  • coal train ruins on whole grain baby whoo

  • Good on you, mate. I'll certainly give this a go.

  • tried this one at home, and as I always do with first time recipes, worked it by hand. Dough did not come together as it did in the video. Was very hard, and very dry, and seemed to not want to come together. 3 cups plus of dry, and 1 cup plus of wet...not sure I am willing to try this one again.

  • That looks great!!!

  • Well made video. One of the best articulated videos on Youtube for sure.

  • this video was good. i seen wut u did and i made some at home and my family likes it thank you for your video and with the orange juice it made it even better!!!

  • no oven spring...

  • Could this be converted to a white bread, using same ingredients, besides the whole wheat flour.

  • Orange juice, butter, sugar, potato flour, and milk. The difficult thing is to pull a reasonable loaf out of a lean dough!

  • Help! I'm new to bread making and have tried this twice and both ended in disaster. The first time I used active yeast instead of instant yeast. I couldn't find any instant yeast so I tried Quick Acting Yeast. It didn't work out. It looks like a little football and won't rise. I'm going to cook it anyway to see if it actually turns out to be a football. Does it have to be INSTANT yeast?

In the video, yours seems so gooey and sticky. Mine is way too hard and dry. Should I just add water?

  • Great video- thanks for sharing!!! I'm getting that book, thanks to this video!

  • That looks sooooooooooooo good. I'm going to try and make it.

  • audio is crap on right channel and fine on left channel

  • Works for me.

  • Audio is not working for me either. All other videos work.

  • I've made this bread a couple times (from their web-site and the bag)... and mine tends to come out too dense and moist for my taste - really almost like Boston brown-bread to me. I really like the texture of the no-kneads though, true Boston brown bread, and others... Again, this King Arthur recipe just bothers me because it has always came out too dense for me? P.S. Your videos are great.

  • The audio for this video is seriously flawed; I don't think it's my system because the sound on all other Youtube videos is fine. There is extraneous background noise on this one that sounds like people talking to one another underwater. Any chance that the sound can be remedied by the breadtopia people? I'd love to hear what's going on. Thanks.

  • Works fine on my computer.

  • I went onto the breadtopia site and saw it there. Great! Thanks.

  • It sounded fine on mine, too. Could it be bad shielding in your computer, picking up radio stations on occasion? I've had that happen with past computers.

  • @bostonpatriot1 Not hearing background noise, however the audio is in mono instead of stereo - all the sound is on the left speaker, the right speaker is silent.

  • Could I use honey instead of the orange juice? If so, how much honey would I use?

  • It's not quite that easy. If you Google "make your own sourdough starter", you can find the info you need.

  • nice bread!

Can you please tell me if I mix spelt for example with water to make a starter, can that be used for bread by itself? I like to make a 100% percent kamut or spelt bread, but I want it to be fermented before baking. I was thinking if I mix water with flour and just leave it out for a couple of days would do it, but I,m not sure.

  • that temperature gauge is crucial. I made a loaf and it looked fine on the outside but was not cooked well enough on the inside. Live and learn.

  • It's a Danish Dough Whisk.

A Google search will turn it up or go to the Breadtopia web site and click on Bread Baking Supplies

  • What is the name of the mixing hand tool and where would I find it for sale?

  • Made this bread - came out super yummy and i loved the texture. Easy to make.

    Thanks!!

  • Thank you! I wonder if I could make "hot pockets" with 100% whole grain flour?

  • Most likely.

    What are hot pockets?

  • Hot Pockets aren't an actual food, it's a name brand and they make a lot of different frozen foods, but when most everyone thinks of a "Hot Pocket" they think of their calzone (for lack of a better way to describe it) type foods (basically anything you can think of stuffed in a break roll).

  • That was GREAT! Loved the braid. This video was just as good as watching America's Test Kitchen! I noticed the grain mill that you have. Is it a nutrimill? Thanks. Now I feel more motivated to try my hand at bread again.

  • Thanks!

The mill is a WonderMill. Very similar to a Nutrimill. I sell both on my Breadtopia web site.

  • BORING lol but good though thanx..i guess

  • Great instructions - clear and detailed - easy to follow up.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • Sure

  • Jeepee :) I laughed out loud

  • Thank you for posting this video. It's relaxed approach (as in not being over the top in its film style) and precision with measurements makes it really helpful for someone learning to bake bread like me.

  • why Bread is healthy anyone knows?

  • would of been funnier if he spit it out and he was like disgusting

and man did they realy make bread with all that stuff backthen!!! :(

  • I like that bread slicer. Will try recipe.

  • Single loaf quantity:

3 cups of whole wheat flour (king Arthur sells white wheat flour)

1 cup of luke warm water

    2 Tbl spoon orange juice

1/2 stick of unsalted butter - cut up

    3 tbl spoon sugar

1/2 cup of potato flakes or 3 Tbl spoon of potato flour

    1/4 cup nonfat dry milk

    1 1/2 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast (10 times more than in no-knead recipe)

  • I don't get it...

  • he doesn't like added things (vitamins added to enrich.

  • Back in the early 1900s they wanted to find a bread that lasted longer and tasted better, they found one! They made White bread.what they did was took out all the vitamins out. Whole wheat is much healthier for you.

  • Great video!! Love your bread knife!!!!

    Got any buckwheat bread recipes?

  • thanx

  • nice vid, I want to make this!

  • im so gonna try this recipe...i have so much trouble with bread! cakes i can bake but not bread! lol

  • How long would you knead it in the Kitchen Mixer?

  • Just untill it forms a sticky dough. From doing this recipe 3 times I found out that about 2 minutes, maybe a little more is sufficient. Then gently scrape it into a bowl and cover etc. etc.

  • Hi does any 1 now how to make the browberry whole wheat

  • Did that Dough Scraper scratch the counter when you swiped away the flour?

  • It's a granite counter and doesn't scratch. The pattern on the granite hides and potential scratches anyway. I'd be careful if you're worried about it or test some small inconspicuous area first.

  • No, but you can get plastic or hard nylon scrapers too if your counter is prone to scratching.

  • Very nice tutorial! I like the way you explain the reasons for some ingredients and procedures. Very useful! thanks!

  • =P~mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • gonna try this 2day thx!

  • yep tried it, its a good loaf! my tops keep kinda sinking a tad tho...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • imma baker too

    :)
