  • this piece is fricken genius

  • EXQUISITE

    thanks

  • I hear influences from Haydn in the introduction, a snippet from Beethoven's Emperor concerto reworked and expanded imaginatively for the first theme of the allegro, and a fugue Bach might have written on one of his better days starting at 6:07. On the whole, one of the finest string quartets ever written, and this from one of the greatest chemists of the 19th century!

  • @5610winston 6:07 doesn't sound bach-like, it sounds awesomererererer

  • @slaytesics As I said, "...might have written on one of his better days...."

Suffice it to say, Borodin displayed outstanding mastery of counterpoint here, and throughout the entire quartet.

  • @5610winston completely agreed

  • excellent pictures match with extraordinary Borodin quartet performance! Original members!!!!!!!!
