Hey, I've heard many people complaining that Motley Crue don't have strong or long solos in their songs. Man, in glam metal, the solos aren't a necessary point, whereas in other genres, such as Death Metal, they are a necessity. But Mick can really play people, watch some videos with him or listen to covers Motley Crue did for other songs. He has it, rhythm, feeling, everything!
Seeing them with Steel Panther and Def Leppard in Sheffield in December! Can't wait. It'll be the first time I've seen the Crue live. Hoping to get soaked in blood.

Mick Mars (aka MM, 1313) is a very talented guitarist. Not to mention he lives with great pain every minute of every day. 80's metal was all about the guitar. And Motley Crue was the biggest band of the 80's. So therefore Mick was one of the best guitarists of that time. There was a lot of thought put into his riffs and solos, something most 80's guitarists lacked.

@Reignmansol - Why, because it's not as flashy? That does not equal quality or musicality by any stretch. Mick's guitar work has a much heavier blues influence than the other guitarists you mentioned. His bare-bones style with the rock/metal overtone is easily recognizable from many other guitarists out there. Given that he's played with a lot of these people already, I suspect the note taking and playing was mutual. They respect each other a heck of a lot more than you seem to.
For the person who said Mick was the mild one of Crue, I would disagree. He was probably the most alcoholic. Although Tommy and Nikki were into cocaine and heroin respectively and Vince was a real big drinker, Mick was in no way mild. He was probably the most alcoholic like one because although the others drank like crazy, Mick often drank alone as opposed to drinking at partys and stuff.

He's an amazing guitar player. He can do other music like country. I thought he had done a song or two something like Bitter Blue while on vacation in LA in the nineties. Screaming and yelling is a good way to release a lot of pent up energy which one can't do with country. 80's metal was all about the guitar. And Motley Crue was the biggest band of the 80's. So therefore Mick was one of the best guitarists of that time. There was a lot of thought put into his riffs and solos, something most 80's guitarists lacked.

@eRx1994bOsCh Syn, who is classically trained, is almost a Randy Rhoads. He plays so smoothly and doesnt even seem like hes trying. Syn gates was doin this shit when he was 17!!! I kno a bunch of guitarist who learned Eruption their first week of playing guitar and it took them 5 years to be able to play Gates stuff, and not even close to as smooth as possible. Hes pure talent. If you dont see the talent than you should honestly, quit listening to music. Period. Whats up with the idiots here...

Slash is VERY talented but the publicity is wat makes him seem overrated. Mick had is own style, as did Slash. Im honestly a fan of both, but i do agree that Mick is often underrated as a guitarist.

@Reignmansol - Why, because it's not as flashy? That does not equal quality or musicality by any stretch. Mick's guitar work has a much heavier blues influence than the other guitarists you mentioned. His bare-bones style with the rock/metal overtone is easily recognizable from many other guitarists out there. Given that he's played with a lot of these people already, I suspect the note taking and playing was mutual. They respect each other a heck of a lot more than you seem to.

For the person who said Mick was the mild one of Crue, I would disagree. He was probably the most alcoholic. Although Tommy and Nikki were into cocaine and heroin respectively and Vince was a real big drinker, Mick was in no way mild. He was probably the most alcoholic like one because although the others drank like crazy, Mick often drank alone as opposed to drinking at partys and stuff.

He's an amazing guitar player. He can do other music like country. I thought he had done a song or two something like Bitter Blue while on vacation in LA in the nineties. Screaming and yelling is a good way to release a lot of pent up energy which one can't do with country. Most musicians can actually play a variety of instruments and sometimes they play under an alias. Mick? The closest I think was Bittler Blue I'm not sure.
