Well, for one it is saying that the way you feel about your boyfriend/girlfriend when you're young is not real love. That feeling, is "happiness" and is "artificially inflated (fake)". And even though he's been involved with "happiness", God loved him anyways. God "caught all the pieces" and he loves God more than this "happiness". This is only talking about when teenagers misinterpret love for something else.
