"Make sure you always go in one direction" and while frosting she goes in one direction then back for a couple of centimeters and then back in the other way.. cool
@BATTLESTAR42 knowing how to properly finish your cake shows quality and dedication because you took the time to make the outside look just as good as the insides will taste. Just because your grammy's old cake looked like it was sat on doesn't make it more "creative" nor does it give it "more character"
this video is kinda annoying, you CAN frost a cake without the cake board, revolving cakestand, offset spatula, it may not look as perfect as her cake, but come on, if you wanted your cake to be perfectly frosted as in the ones you get from a bakery, you'd get the cake from the bakery instead of baking and frosting it yourself, anyway a homebaked cake tastes better, and the not perfect look is just part of the charm :)
@sansviedo-No one on earth? Literally? I would say, from my experience, that most inexperienced would-be cooks and cake makers have made at least one of these mistakes, at least once. Many mediocre cake frosters, persistently use inferior tools, and don't worry about it since it still tastes delicious. I would also say that this video very realistically depicts common "wrong" cake-frosting examples, as I have done each, and seen others do the same.
Omg, this helps SO much! The first time my friend and I wanted to bake a cake, it turned out TERRIABLE!! Pretty much like the cake in the begining, lol! Thanks a bunch!
well i think it is rather good compared to others that make it look difficult, she made it look easy, you would be suprised what people use to frost a cake so she has made it idiot proof as well nice one.
While I never made the mistakes she mentioned,... some of those makes me think that, anyone who did make those mistakes obviously grew up around parents who did not cook.
Anyways color me impressed, I just learned something none the less.
I honestly was not trying to be rude. Half of the things on this channel are not things that I expected to learn here. I honestly expected some more difficult things. The only thing I learned that wasn't something that seemed obvious happened to be the frosting rose thing. I was pretty sure that frosting a cake while it was still hot was a bad idea to begin with...trust me I've done it before, when I was like 10.
@ellichan I agree, some of the videos are great. But a lot of the how tos are so basic, its kind of depressing. Even if one wants to argue that they didnt know not to frost a hot cake. The fact that Im told my frosting needs to "spreadable". Really? (Dont get me wrong, I like the Chow channel, but the how tos just tend to be very basic)
@sansviedotcom I have actually make a cake close to like that. But not because of these reasons in the video, I whipped the cream a bit too long so the water started to separate and become runny. Trial and error, now I know better.
@sansviedotcom "literally no one"? Well, Friend, "sansintellect", you're quite wrong, there. When I was a boy, I both saw and actually participated in wrongful frosting incidents.
But, all things frosting quite aside, good thing your strongly dogmatic nature is quite overcome by your lack of knowledge and plain ignorance, . . . as is sometimes said of your kind: "If he knew anything, he would be dangerous.".
