can't happen, mythbusters disproved it, they used steel cables from a mountain lift, nothing happened on pigs skin, so nothing will happen here, can't get hurt by wires
why doesn't your other comment appear here so i can respond to it, anyway I find it hard to believe you cut your cheek but then again it's plausible so =) ok that's some crazy shit if you did cut your face on a guitar string
ive just changed my strings from ernie ball baritone to extra slinky baisicly the thickest possible to the thinnist and my new strings are too lose but there in tune so you cant play chords i was wondering if someone could tell me how to make them tighter but still in tune
ive got as problem i changed my strings and streched them too.
But i have a tremolo bridge and now after i put the strings on the bride is raised too much as if its about to come out of the body why is that ? how can i make it normal again ??
@1015player Tremolo bridges work on the principle of tension: the string tension must be equal to the tension of the tremolo springs in the back cavity. What's happened to you is that the tension is not equalized, and you have a disproportionate amount of string tension. Just tighten the tremolo springs and keep retuning until the bridge is level again. It's bitchy, but it works. That's why I don't use tremolos anymore :D.
I know this comment is 8 months old but I want to reply because that happened to me recently =P You put a heavier gauge of string on your guitar and your trem can't handle it. You need to upgrade the springs in your trem to support a higher gauge of string. I don't know how to do it myself, it only cost me like 30 bucks to have it done along with a whole tune up at the local guitar shop lol
Damn i wished i watched this before doing mine... I wrapped mine 3 times around it... But i do have a problem. Does anyone know why my strings sound really tinny? The chords sound horrible.. Is it that i simply have to stretch them? Someone please help ^.^ Thanks very much ^.^
I like your guitar, it looks like mine except mine is a different kind, mine doesn't have a whammy bar and my pickups look different. this was good thanks!
After watching quite a few of these, this guy has a great wrapping technique, when he crimps the string. also the way he teaches to measure your string slack is good for beginner too. I came back to find his video and say Thanks kid! great job.
when i restring my strat, i leave my guitar slightly sharp overnight. stretches them out perfectly for me. if ur in a hurry though, just tug on the strings a little and keep tuning
14 years playing and still a mess doing this, thanks for the tips!, one question though...what happens if you want to detune your guitar one half or more in the future? strings will go off! or what...answer please i´m changing my strings tomorrow!! greetings from Buenos Aires
Whaffel said perhaps they where bad strings...another possible reason: that white thing before the head (sorry i speak spanish) where the strings go through...what´s it´s name...well, maybe i´ts too sharp...especially if it is a new guitar...if strings snap too often take your guitar to the workshop, it happened to me, bye
Hey, thanks for all your lessons, 2 questions though. Ok, 1) is Ernie Ball the best strings to get? and 2) how many time should u stretch the strings? thanks
Hi, If you have a guitar like the one in this vide, a Stratocaster, then the strings are out frome the back of the guitar. Unscrew the back plastic back plate and you'll see where the strings go through the back and the guitars body. I hope that helped.

I like at least 3 turns on the string post especially little E and B. They tend to slip.

do u have to do the locking techneque for the stretching to work??
Itachi300x 2 years ago
yup or else your strings won't be strong once you tune it
rarebanana 2 years ago
Interesting streching technique, I'll have to try it out to see if it works better than stretching down the fret board.

umm... when i retuned my high e when using this method... it snapped... and it wasn't high enough! whats up with that???
minupuppy 3 years ago
not high enough? sure you're not 1 octave higher then? xD or maybe wrong strings for your guitar..
Whaffel 3 years ago
these strings CAME with my guitar... so ya... there for it...
minupuppy 3 years ago
well, it doesn't have anything to do with a method. that's for sure.. just bad quality strings then. if they were new of course
