@mcSPANKSTER212 actually, it was injured, and had floated to the top of the water due to being close to death. colossal squids never go to the top of the water unless they have died or are close to death. but, even being close to death, this mighty creature had lots of energy to fight off 4 men. but, as they got it onto the boat, it eventually died. they froze the body then put it in an autopsy tank to dissect it. they had to do it as fast as possible because the carcus deterialized so quickly.

The giant squid was my favorite animal as a child, and I also liked to draw, so I would draw it all the time. However, I always got the proportions wrong and gave it a longer stouter mantle and shorter tentacles, and, for the heck of it, put claws on the tentacles. Then one day I found out that what I was drawing did exist and was a different squid entirely. So now the colossal squid is my favorite animal, and was apparently before I even knew it existed.
