How many real worlds human being will able to take care the same issue just like this story especially while there's the whole trash spy agency also wanna "Piece of pie"???
when i heard that jackie browns opening scene is similar to the graduates opening i had to check it out. pretty cool but jackie browns opening is way more cool.
I thought it was interesting that he is moving toward the left, and the voice over the speaker is telling him to stay to the right. Is that a symbol for Liberalism/Counter Culture, or am I just trying to find meaning in something arbitrary?
@GordonMorrice Is that why this movie was considered to be so revolutionary? But how did young people then see their world differently because of this movie? I'm not saying that this isn't a good movie or that I don't like it. But the one thing I don't agree with or like about it, is that I think it's very sexist. The only one that's blamed for the sleazy love affair that occurs and that is portrayed as sleazy is Mrs. Robinson, the lady. But every excuse is made for Ben.
man, I remember seeing this when i was just a wee lass, and all the symbolism just flew over my head, and now being 22 myself, I can relate to this movie more.
@blackshot Same here. I remember seeing it as a child and thinking "huh?" But when I went to college it suddenly made oh so much sense... This movie was made 40 years ago and it still speaks to so many young people. Amazing.
this film is my all time favourite film saw it best part of forty years ago got me hooked on simon and garfunkel and the acting was superb together with a fantastic plot. in the later years you know when a film has been a success the amount of parodies based on this classic. well done hoffman bancroft and mike nichols a truly beautiful film. i have to say if toomorrow they said they were going to remake this THE GRADUATE..it would not come close to the original. MASTERPIECE TEN STARS
I like everything about this film except the story. It didn't make a lot of sense in many parts of the film. And most of the characters have very little personality, except for Mrs. Robinson. I just enjoyed the film for it's great cinematography and music.
@TanjaPalin I think this film is easily one of the best I have ever seen. I thought I would like it more than my favorite which is stand by me. But it barely missed it
@TanjaPalin this distinction belongs to 2001 ... You can't be more simple and so more powerful than that . I'll grant you though that the Graduate definetely belongs to the top 10 with legends like once upon a time in the west , .
Had the pleasure of doing a paper on this film for a final project in a film class - I had never seen it before, but it is one of the best films ever made and I love it!
@ADenny12 yea human beings are dumb as fuck allright. if a plane is hi jacked and there are a good 200+ on board why the fuck would you let a coupe of people with box cutters take cover herp a derp.
@CrashBandicoot1990 Yes. That was awful :( But, then again, I wasn't talking about airports in Russia. I remember a bombing in the L.A. airport in the 1970's but that was after this movie was filmed. FYI: I personally saw the results of the L.A. bombing. I remember going with my family to pick up some friends who were flying in and seeing the roped off areas of the airport after that bombing. But back in the day of this movie, airports were kinda fun to hang out at.

He stands in one place and yet is somehow forced to keep moving forward. This is the best way of introducing the film's themes. Also good song.

why is this movie about Daniel Brou? does anyone besides me wonder why a famous movie reduces to a Columbia TA? Is it just me?

Heh, weird to see how Tarantino used the opening sequence for Jackie Brown. Exactly the same setup. "Stolen well" that's for sure - result is cool.
