Sorry guy, I don't agree with that. The Fridgidaire Unimatic, Pulsmatic, Rollermatic, and I-18 as well as the Westinghouse Laundromat were just as good. In fact the Laundromat was a front loader. Remember those machines? Now everybody makes frontloaders. I wish Westinghouse was still in buisiness. I'd like to see what the Laundromat would be like today.
Back in 1979 we moved into a home and the previous owners left the washer and dryer they owned. They were both westinghouse machines never knew how old they were
The dryer unfortunately turned up to be broken.
It was a gas unit and something was wrong with the gas burner.. But get this it was spark ignition!!
The washer worked for many years but one day we were washing clothes there was this loud bang the washer stopped went into this hummm and then the smell of burning rubber.. (motor fried.)
No, it's actually a 3-speed clutch. Medium and Normal work, but gentle appears to not engage. One of these days I'll get down there and figure out what it is.
My buddy's mom gave me a 1972 three speed GE to tinker with. The three speed model i had used two actuators. For medium one actuator ingaged one set of drag shoes in the clutch. For low both engaged. Maybe the low speed actuator isn't working. I just wonder if the part is still available. I replace the medium and low speed shoes on mine. Only one place had them. The guy told me they stopped making the three speed models in 1972.
no washing machine in this world can clean like the old GE models

Wow someone actually had parts for a 3-speed clutch? I'd sure like to get in touch with them to see what they might still have!
