i believe Sambo is a bit harder to fight in than MMA because i see a lot of ufc fighters that do not have verry good ground technique but do well because they are verry good on their feet, or vice versa, if your ground is not good in sambo, you get owned, if your standup is not good in sambo, you get the sht kicked and punched out of you,

There is ground and pound, it's within the rules.

It may not be used as much because fighters are awarded points if they "hold-down" their opponents with their backs against the ground for 10 or 20 seconds.

If you try to ground and pound, it's easier for them to escape and you lose the points, and it's going to be really hard to put someone away with GnP in the same amount of time.

If you watch it the fights do look a lot like mma but if you look up the rules and understand the difference the uniform makes it is very different.

Sambo shares grappling techniques with judo, wrestling (freestyle, grecorroman, eastern european and asian folk styles), and striking techniques with boxing, karate, jujutsu, etc.

But in and by itself, Sambo is a complete art and not just a "mix"; it teaches principles and approaches to those techniques.in a different manner than the various styles it originally borrowed from.

It is sad that are using other martial arts combat sambo these kicks are illegal and are not Sambo, should be more strict in that. must preserve the techniques! If you want to use other martial arts is fine but only fight in mixed martial arts!

Dentro del combat sambo hay muchos estilos distintos, dependiendo de la orientación y base de los entrenadores y atletas.

Alguien que tiene un entrenador de combat sambo cuya base es de sport sambo, lucha grecorromana y box, se verá un estilo muy distinto al que tenga un entrenador cuya base sea de sport sambo, kyokushin karate y judo, por ejemplo.

Headbutting is now illegal in combat sambo, but it was banned just recently.

Some combat sambo competitions (other than the FIAS) allow headbutting.

Some allow headbutting, and you're not allowed to wear headgear.

How's that for hardcore?

You re allowed headbutt but you re not allowed elbow??? Thats a little strange. There must be lots of different rule sets, one I was watching was no elbows/headbutts, no knees to the head (I think) and absolutley NO strikes on the ground.

It's up to the regulating body and organizers of the match/tournament.

FIAS is not the only organizer of sambo competitions, so it is not unusual to see combat sambo matches where elbows,headbutting, groin strikes, closed guard, etc, are allowed.

It's just usually not trained very well. Find a good school and it should serve you as well as any style. That is easier said than done though.

Not really. Just use your common sense when you choose. I don't know if the head school is any good, personally. If you can't tell for pretty sure whether a school is good or not, just find one with a lot of loosely restricted sparring so you can work out what works on your own.
