oh well. biting is common to untrained herding dogs. i have one who bit me a few times. he has learned since. border collies are wonderful and loving but do have very strong wild instincts and thats what makes them awesome. respect them and they will respect you for life.
The fact of the matter is the dog was poorly trained. It was not socialized right and has nothing to do with the breed or the fact that it is a dog. All dogs no matter what breed are capable of being productive members of society. This dog attacked her because it felt it should. Through self defence or a small sign that the girl was giving told the dog it should do this. It was more than likely scared of the girl and when she waved her arms around it felt threatened.
Not the dog's fault and not the girls fault. It was man's fault. Poor training and poor socialization will make a scared beast out of any species on earth.
I'm not sure what you are trying to prove with this page but it sounds to me like your reading it off the internet and have no connection to the incident at all. Stop trying to get attention from those you don't know and go be productive somewhere.
The collie was herding, kids are just sheep with no wool on them to a collie. I would assume that it started off with "the eye" that collies use to herd sheep. Once that didn't work, nipping was probably used that scared the girl and escalated from there. They both did what was natural to them.
Guys, collies are wonderful animals. I have a collie too (Check out my video) and he is the best thing ever. He is the sweetest and most adorable dog ever :P How a dog acts depends on its owner. If it treats it badly, the dog will obviously be more ferocious, and if the owners treat it well, then the dog will be friendly. Each animal have different characteristics, just like humans. Some people can be mean and some people can be nice. It's all about how you were raised and your surroundings.
DOGS HAVE MOMENTS!!!!! Never say anything like this. THEY DON"T UNDERSTAND!!! THEY're dogs they have no clue. SElf defense its a new place!!!!! MAyb the dog didnt like this person. SO the dog attacked
Sooo many things wrong with this article. I feel sorry for this kid. She's going to grow up to be a whiney little girl so long as her parents keep victimizing her like that. Things like this happen. Her parents need to grow up and move on, and teach their little girl how to move on instead of hiring a lawyer when it may not even have been the owner's fault. Also, a few scars can be hidden and fixed. Mr. Cannon has no damn clue how it will affect her life. She may get over it with time. Dumbass.
To Border Collies, kids r sheep wit no wool. A kid runnin across a yard is, to da dog, a sheep dat wandered off. Border Collies natural instinct is "herdin". If da kids not ready for it, da experience is traumatic. Kid reacts by runnin faster. Since da kid/sheep wont cooperate, da dog escalates his attempt by barkin/nippin. Kid panics. Cycle escalates till da dog resorts to last means of control - grippin/bitin, used to grab stubborn sheep or cow. Both r doin wat comes natural to them.
collies are not the kind of dogs who would attack a harmless little girl even the dogs were getting provoked in any way. except, they have a dumb owner
If that was my child who got attacked, there is no question that I would probably go to jail because as soon as I saw the dog outside again, I would shot it dead!!!!! I wouldn't care if I went to jail or not. Any owner who wants to keep a dog after it did that to a defensless child is a piece of shit in my eyes, and I'm sure in every mothers eyes who has children as well. That dog would be one dead dog when I got finished with it!
Ive been around Border Collie's all my life, and I flat guarantee that this was caused by something, and that the Border Collie DID NOT do this without reason. It may not have been the little girl that caused this, but border collies DO NOT bite unprovoked......and that is an absolute FACT. If the poster of this is trying to portray something else, he is either a frigging liar, has another motive or just is anti-dog. Hundreds of years of breeding will not lie, or change the facts-----
@FUzupf I have a wolfxcollie and a pit! and guess who is my fav the pit! border collies have snapped and my collie mix fractured my hand once, I love pits and I'm happy as heck you post the truth on here thank you!
I have a hard time believing this also. Especially from a Collie. I've had several and they were all good with children. In fact they would take abuse from young children without reacting except to move away.
I am also volunteering at an animal shelter, and you would think these would be the misfits and aggressive dogs, but I have not found one yet.
@gjsterp That´s probably because you cared about the dogs and put in the effort to raise them properly. And shelter dogs are obviously fine while they are around people who can handle them. Many dogs transform into totally different dogs, depending on the people they are with.
@animalobsessed1 Shelter dogs don't just appear, they are brought in after having been affected by their owners. I agree, a dog, no matter what the breed can be made into a monster, but who does that really reflect?
@gjsterp I know all that. All my dogs are rescues. I was commenting on the fact that you said you have a hard time believing this, especially from a Collie.
@burquabob That was an emotional tie in to the story. A preamble of sorts. The story was indeed about a Border Collie and the picture was brought up on a separate webpage. You, "my dear", did not listen to the whole story.
Bordie collies are sheep dogs. They are work dogs. I have one myself he is a hassle to keep exercised lol but he is well trained didnt even have to do much. They are the smartest dogs, even more so then labs or any other as i said Work dogs. Only way a bordie collie would of done this was if the kid enticed or upset the dog.
And even your post is soooo much beyond any relation, to what might have happened.
"The Rottweiler Hanna Cannon fed with a bottle when the canine was the only puppy in its litter to survive was to go to a new home Wednesday. The 9-year-old girl no longer wants the dog, Trixie, around."
Well, the dog you pictured is not a "Rottweiler".
Stay to the facts, give reliable sources, my dear !
Yes, some Border Collies simply do not like children that much. My Layla who is 11 years old growled at some children and I have never allowed kids (any kids) to pet her. I must say that she was growing up with teens and adults only. It is up to the owners to be aware what their dog is capable of. Not dog's fault I'd say...
This dog should be put down, if the dog didn't protect itself, it should be put down dogs that seriously injure humans should die. dog on dog attack is something else though.
Border Collies are my favorite breed, BUT THIS IS SHIT!!! If that dog looked even close to a pit, it would have been killed. I'm sick of this ignorant bullshit, that dog should be put down, a border collie can be just as dangerous as people make pits out to be.
@StefyStuff Every dog can be dangerous. More owners should learn about socialization training. I think that there should be a law passed that EVERY DOG OWNER not matter what the breed, big or small. Should get their dog to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen before their dog is allowed off leash ANYWHERE. I have a border collie, even though he was attacked by a dog as a puppy, I did socialization training and now he is great with other dogs and kids. Bad owners result in aggressive dogs.
@Supercucu123 thats what I'm saying, but border collies become even more aggressive because they are so smart, without proper training and socialization, they could become the most aggressive breed of all, believe me, I've seen my share of aggressive dogs because their owners don't know how to handle tham, my neighbors cocker spaniels got loose and attacked my sister when we were little, had that been any of the bully breeds, it would have been put down.
@Supercucu123 and then, another neighbors akita got loose and didn't hurt anyone, but everyone was ready to say how dangerous the dog was, and how it should be put down, but the dog had never been a problem before.
@Supercucu123 No dog should be off leash, and its really dangerous to take your dog to a off leash dog park. especially if its a dog people view as ''vicious'' my dogs border collie pitbull mix and a GSD never go there or anywhere else they could get the blame.
Dude there is so much insanity on here. Discussion about whatever happened is not berating the girl. I'd bet the little girl ain't reading this. What is the point of posting a video showing a picture of a fucking border collie while reading this anyway? Screw all of you, we know there are bad owners, it means nothing about the breed. Children get all bent out of shape about dogs. If parents had any sense they would teach their children that they should not go up to any dog on the street.
Border collies don't normally bite hard enough (even when provoked) to cause stitches, it's abnormal and can't be blamed on "herding behaviour" since nips inflicted while herding are not meant to be hard enough to damage livestock. If a border collie bites too hard, a farmer considers it a fault, won't use him to herd and most probably won't breed from him either.
This is CLEARLY an unbalanced dog, a normal dog would have moved away from the child. I love Border collies but this one ain't right.
As a owner of five wonderful Border Collies myself, this kid "had it coming." Border Collies were bred to be working dogs and children can look like small creatures to herd. Though any dog in general, can be provoked to attack, especially if a child swats at them. This kid should have been taught dog bite prevention and not making the dog so frustrated. I'm glad this dog didn't get put down and this child will just have to live with what she brought on herself. I'm sure Kujo is a great dog.
@TeamMuseik brought what upon herself? just swinging her arms? seriously? she had a dog of her own, and i'm sure her parents taught her how to behave properly. this girl is physically and psychologically scarred, and you're berating her!
@PhantomWerewolf You'd be surprised the about what parents don't teach their children. Some kids just don't realize that all dogs aren't the same. This is my view on the case between this kid and Kujo.
@wy0c0wb0y I'm certain that when she got her dog, she was trying to be rough with it, but was disciplined by her parents into properly behaving with a dog. This dog, if I'm interpreting the story right, was not purposely provoked by the girl.
@TeamMuseik I've owned nine Border Collies and never once have I seen any indication of aggression. Every single one of my Border Collies was raised around children and learned to respect human beings. This particular case doesn't prove that Border Collies are aggressive. Every single breed of dog has bitten someone or some thing in their life. That is a proven fact. Accidents happen and animals can be provoked. Life sucks, doesn't it?
@lineba20 because he can? Notice his name is FUzupf. There is a person with the name Zupf and all he posts is videos of pitbull attacks he has hundreds of videos trying to show people they are bad dogs. No such thing as a bad dog just a bad owner or bad upbringing. FUzupf is showing people that all dogs are capable of attacking not just pitbulls any dog can attack and any dog can be sweet.
@citygirl5705 I have owned 9 dogs & foster(not all at once) i know pitbulls are more likely to become DOG aggressive. They are powerful dogs but people think because they look smaller than gsd & rotties that they arent strong. Pitbulls attacking people are just poorly bred and very untrained. Gsd are more likely to attack people but they are so well rounded/used for almost everything that people over look the attacks. Any dog can be aggressive but its the power of a pit thats scary to most.
@citygirl5705 I would never let anyone touch a dog of mine or a foster dog without me fully trusting the dog myself. I hate when there is obviouse signs of a dog attack and no one does anything because they think their dog is just too sweet to do anything like that. I have had feral dogs and a wolf dog and they never once bit or showed signs of attacking someone because i get them out of uncomfortable & stressful situations.
@citygirl5705 I have yelled at people before for provoking my dogs an they say things like "Oh he wont bite me i do this to my dogs all of the time" Thats when people get bit acting like they know all dogs. They think because they love dogs that all dogs love them. Or not asking to pet a dog then jumping/hugging some random dog, getting bit then blaming the owner. Just ask before they pet a dog OR if the owner knew the dog bites and goes out in public and doesnt muzzle it.
i agree the animal should have been put down regardless of breed. once u know an animal will maul another animal or child they shud be put down. i love border collies but they can be vicious against others. they are still animals and need to be trained properly. if they are not they will follow animal instincts.
Aww...poor kid. :( I feel bad for her. I really hope things are better for her now. As for the dog, well, it's one of three things: 1) The dog was badly bred. Yes, if you breed two dogs that are bad tempered, usually you're gonna get bad tempered puppies. 2) Bad ownership. If you treat a dog badly, it's going to eventually respond in turn. 3) It had something wrong with it such as an injury or illness. If a dog is injured or ill, messing with it is a bad idea. But, I hope the girl is doing okay.
It's important to know that this dog is NOT responsible - it is the owner of the dog who is responsible for raising a dog this way and the dog is just as much a victim as the child. I seriously hope the dog OWNER recived punishment. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE NOT A RESPONSIBLE OWNER
@Court22132 border collies are normally very nice dogs but alot are owned by people who should not own them, and the point of the video is that if it were a pitbull/rottweiler/german shepard or a cross breed dog of the breeds i mentioned earlier it woud have been killed instantly.
ok, just a message to anyone who thinks that this dog should have been put down on the spot. Have you ever heard of the bill passed by the ontario government about pit bull "type" dogs? the only reason that bill was passed was because of people like you. It's not the breed, it's the deed, and this is living proof. That dog needed to be a hell of alot more socialized, and trained. An hour long bike ride, as well as mentally stimulating activities such as agility, or guessing where the treat is.
Just goes to show some of these people that its not just certain breeds that can do this stuff. I have a Rottwieler and she is a big baby, she would lick you to death if thats possible. My nephew plays with her all the time, if he cries for any reason she goes over to him and wont let anyone near him until I call her back.
Border collies are strictly working dogs that should NEVER be kept as pets. Being kept as pets drives them literally insane! As for this case; so I guess humans have to mind their manners around dogs now? WTF? That dog should have been executed on the spot. And I'm saying this as a dog owner.
@RTWUROTTS I see you like rottweilers. Many, many years ago I used to own a sibling pair. They were wonderful dogs. I love rotts and think they are the best breed in the world. However, honestly, as much I love the breed I don't think they should ever be kept as pets. They are powerful, completely fearless and strictly one man dogs and this makes them dangerous around strangers. They should only be used for police, security and miltary work. I presently own a clumber spaniel. She's a sweety.
No, you just should not own a rottweiler if you dont know what you are doing. I got 2 lovley rottweiler, who would never hurt a fly. But thats because they are in the right hands. Rottweiler are one of the best family dogs you can own, IF you know what your doing. Sadly thouse dogs are "cool" sotime and time again they go into wrong hands. and that does not always end well.
@RAIDERS58th I have a Border Collie and she is NOT strictly a working dog. She is 100% a city pet, and she is NOT insane. She lives in a big city home, and she is HAPPY as hell. Some Collie's are hyper and are strictly working, but not all. I am saying this, as a BORDER COLLIE owner.
Muzzling, neutering banning, -if it includes other breeds so-be-it. Stats prove pit bull breeds cause far more death and medical emergencies than any other breed.Good luck trying to find as many border collie attacks as pit bulls. They attack ,but far less. A trick pit lovers use is calling minor scratches ect. attacks. But attacks causing DEATH and SERIOUS injuries are led by pits. If you convince someone pits are safe and a kid gets hurt because of it you should be ashamed.
@pitmeister100 There are only 2 things I'm going to respond to. The other stuff you mentioned, well, good point. 1st thing, whenever there are facts and statistics showing bsl is not working....why always start saying, "it must be lobbyist with those numbers." The 2 countries I mentioned. The UK and New Zealand. Look them up. I tired to copy a link to this comment but can't. The DDA of '91 IS FAILING. Period. The New Zealand numbers...those were included in the news article.
2nd point. "Stats prove pit bull breeds cause far more death and medical emergencies than any other breed." as a Hater would say... SHOW ME. Show me the proof.
1. CDC doesn't correlate numbers anymore.
2. Dogsbite.org......Not an EXPERT. Period. Doesn't have scientific numbers, graphs, statistics from every single community in the US to combine and come to a conclusion that APBTs and AmStaffs attack more.
And THAT my friend.....is just taking into consideration the attacks that require reconstructive sugery.
It does NOT include the other 855,000 dog bite victims that require medical attention.
Here's something that puts it into perspective.... Let's say the 885,000 attacks were all done by Pit Bulls. We would hear 2,425 Pit Bull attacks every single day!!
And that is STILL only 20% of the 4,500,000 dog bites per year in the USA
@FUzupf Do you want to share the source of the compiled numbers? Particularly the 4.5 million figure and the 31000 serious attack figure. ( The 2000 you are attributing to pit bulls +29000 "other serious attacks). I'd be interested in reading what the agency had to say .
@FUzupf I'm very interested in your figure of a total of 2000 total pit bull attacks annually. Can you give me a reference so I can read this as well. Thanks
@FUzupf The key word here in the groups you mention is" TRACK."The ones they TRACK does not mean they TRACK them ALL. There is no reason to believe that many more pit attacks don't reach these groups attention.Odds are the 2000 figure is low for that reason. In that case if not all pit bull attacks are reported ( you admitted you don't know what breed the other 29,000 attacks were made by -"What are the other breeds?") Hundreds are probably pit bull attacks not TRACKED by those groups.
@FUzupf The Morbidity&Mortality Weekly Report, a Publication of THE CDC pointed out of the 333,700 patients treated in Emergcency Rooms only 1.8% were hospitalized, 0r approximately 6000 people. In this 6000 is undoubtably where you will find an unusually high % numbers for pit bulls. Why do I say this? Out of space here, but read my next post and I'll give you just one example that anyone with common sense should understand-next post-
@FUzupf The editor of ANIMAL PEOPLE investigated dog attack deaths and maimings -09/1982 thru11/2006. He created a table of what appears to be 80 to100 breeds. The table covered only CLEARLY IDENTIFIED BREEDS ASDESIGNATEDBY ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS OR OTHERS WITH EXPERTISE. Results show pit bulls attack so much more often with so much more harm to the point of being astounding. The reports are everywhere-the damage is everywhere.Hopefully in time they will stopped.
@FUzupf There you go again-I didn't say" MUST be those lobbyist with those numbers"--I said POSSIBLY a numbers game. There is a difference in the words. Then I mentioned other possible factors that could cause an increase in attacks. Again you misquoted. How do you know that without the bans and/or restrictions that the attack increases would not have been higher? Get your crystal ball out. If indeed those numbers (40% and 15%) have any merit.
I said have you read about countries ,ONE STATE, and hundreds of communities banning or RESTRICTING pit bulls. It's true nutters are fighting against and sometimes defeating breed specific legislation. If these figures (40% increase and 15% increase) are correct in these 2 instances ( it's possibly a numbers game by pit bull lobbyists) There could be other reasons. Poor enforcement, poor definition of an attack, jerks going to a different breed, whatever. Ban ,neuter, restrict, whatever it takes.
@FUzup My posts got deleted.Anyway. Since you said" ALL<<<< countries ,states and communities are lifting and modifying bans to where they are not breed specific".unless you have checked" ALL"<< to see this is true your word lacks merit. Read more carefully--I didn't say states ,I said one state. I'll be back after bit. If you notice I said " in the TWO<<< instances mentioned both dogs ". That should tell you I read what you mentioned. Read more carefully .
@FUzup If you read more closely you wouldn't have to ask . I mentioned the 2 attacks you talked about. how could I mention them if I hadn't read what you wrote about? come on.
@FUzupf -Look at the pro pit bullers in here. And you criticize me?! Any sympathy for the girl from them? They are all concerned about pits . And you jump me? You must be a pit bull person.
@FUzupf- The sarcasm in my post was in response to an individual trying to capitalize on this incident by a border collie in an attempt to make a case in favor of pit bulls. Perhaps you should write something to him about his insensitivity toward the girl . The sarcasm was not about the attack and you know it.Comparing the number of vicious attacks between the two breeds will give one insight about pit bull dangers. The dog should be put down ,MY prayers to the child ,of course.
The dog was "provoked" because she was swinging her arms? If this was a bully breed/rottie/etc the dog would have been shot, it would have been on national television, and the owner would have received some sort of fine. Yet this dog is returned to the owner without even a slap on the wrist?
and people say pit bulls are the only vicious dogs, i know for a fact border collies who are well cared for and trained but can still bite my friends border i knew for over a year attacked me when iwas coming up to the house, at first i thought he was running to say hi but no he jumped and lached onto my arm, my friends gsd actually came running and attacked her and got her off of me.
@ObscurelyNyappy probilly but that is very sad that because the rep. the have any pitbull pitbull mix is dangerous and that crap but most pitbulls are sweet as long as theyve had th right training
A border collie attacked a child and left her with 163 stitches and was returned to it's owner. I GUARANFUCKINGTEE YOU that if the dog was a Rottweiler/Pitbull/GSD/Doberman/Presa Canario or anything close to these breeds, it would have been put down on the spot by officers. Some people/animals just have it too good. Some are simply guilty by REPUTATION. Ain't this some bullshit.
@sehoujay I KNOW ,RIGHT!!! It is a shame . these ferocious Border Collies are everywhere. ATTACKING ATTACKING ATTACKING!!! Good gravy, the same with chiuahuas. When's the last time you heard about a chiuahua being put down by the cops? I tell you it's a conspiracy!!!
@FUzupf Read about the entire countries, one state, hundreds of communities banning or restricting pit bulls because they consistenly attack kids/people/strangers/owners? ? Is your point other dogs attack ? We know that. In the two instances mentioned both dogs are vicious, animals should be put down. I'm not going to defend them with, "it's just bad owners" or the" news media makes them look bad" or " they got the breed mixed up". Know a group that does that? I do-pit bull lovers.
1st of all....did you read what I mentioned? 2nd of all. All of these countries, states, communities banning Pit Bulls. They are also lifting bans, modifying the bans to where its not breed specific, and others are just all out banning everything else like denmark, with the 12 different breeds that are banned. Why not just ban them all.
Then, we have statisical proof that bans don't work. UK has 40% increase in attacks. New Zealand has 14% increase in just 3 months.
@joeynem NO the fact is that 75% of dog owners who choose breeds like Pitt Bulls, Rottweillers and Presa Canarios are MORONS who know nothing about dog ownership. The breeds you mention here are victims of uneducated uncivillized members of human population who if you ask me should all be put down and the dogs lives should be saved. If this is how you think, visit a sanctuary for these breeds who have been rescued and learn the horrid crap they go through just because they're not a poodle.
@sehoujay x2 this is exactly the truth. If my dogs a bordercolie pitbull mix or my GSD hurt a child they would be killled on the spot. sick world we live in.
@Court22132 Oh really? You think this is ridiculous?? My 9-yr old gentle, loving, dog-lover daughter was rushed to the ER after being attacked tonight by her grandparents' border collie who usually greets her with a wagging tail, warm nudges, and wet kisses. Her crime? She was swinging on her swing when, suddenly, from behind, Sparky grabbed onto her right hand, began thrashing, pulled her down from the swing to the
@Court22132 --cntd-- ground and started viciously attacking her futher along her ribs and back as she screamed, moaned, cried, and begged for someone to help her while she tried to curl up in a ball. You're effin' ridiculous to think THIS is ridiculous! We ARE LIFELONG ANIMAL LOVERS and OWNERS!!! THEY ARE LIKE FAMILY!!
@Court22132 --cntd-- HOWEVER-- they ARE ANIMALS who, REGARDLESS of DOMESTICATION and GENTLE, yet firm, upbringing ARE CAPABLE of SNAPPING and returning to their instincts!! ALL DOGS ARE DESCENDED FROM WOLVES. Don't be a moron.
oh well. biting is common to untrained herding dogs. i have one who bit me a few times. he has learned since. border collies are wonderful and loving but do have very strong wild instincts and thats what makes them awesome. respect them and they will respect you for life.

I saw your video on Pit Bulls, and I think I know what you may be trying to do here.
While there may be some dangerous Pit Bulls out there, most are not.
We should not condemn a breed for a few bad apples that are probably more of a reflection on the owners than the dogs themselves.

I have a hard time believing this also. Especially from a Collie. I've had several and they were all good with children. In fact they would take abuse from young children without reacting except to move away.
I am also volunteering at an animal shelter, and you would think these would be the misfits and aggressive dogs, but I have not found one yet.
Maybe tomorrow?
gjsterp 2 months ago
@gjsterp That´s probably because you cared about the dogs and put in the effort to raise them properly. And shelter dogs are obviously fine while they are around people who can handle them. Many dogs transform into totally different dogs, depending on the people they are with.
animalobsessed1 2 months ago
@animalobsessed1 Shelter dogs don't just appear, they are brought in after having been affected by their owners. I agree, a dog, no matter what the breed can be made into a monster, but who does that really reflect?
Who's to blame? The dog breed or the owner?

Bordie collies are sheep dogs. They are work dogs. I have one myself he is a hassle to keep exercised lol but he is well trained didnt even have to do much. They are the smartest dogs, even more so then labs or any other as i said Work dogs. Only way a bordie collie would of done this was if the kid enticed or upset the dog.

most dog bites are due to bad owners who dont exercise their dogs or correct their bad behavior!

Border Collies are my favorite breed, BUT THIS IS SHIT!!! If that dog looked even close to a pit, it would have been killed. I'm sick of this ignorant bullshit, that dog should be put down, a border collie can be just as dangerous as people make pits out to be.
StefyStuff 5 months ago
@StefyStuff Every dog can be dangerous. More owners should learn about socialization training. I think that there should be a law passed that EVERY DOG OWNER not matter what the breed, big or small. Should get their dog to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen before their dog is allowed off leash ANYWHERE. I have a border collie, even though he was attacked by a dog as a puppy, I did socialization training and now he is great with other dogs and kids. Bad owners result in aggressive dogs.
Supercucu123 5 months ago
@Supercucu123 thats what I'm saying, but border collies become even more aggressive because they are so smart, without proper training and socialization, they could become the most aggressive breed of all, believe me, I've seen my share of aggressive dogs because their owners don't know how to handle tham, my neighbors cocker spaniels got loose and attacked my sister when we were little, had that been any of the bully breeds, it would have been put down.
StefyStuff 5 months ago
@Supercucu123 and then, another neighbors akita got loose and didn't hurt anyone, but everyone was ready to say how dangerous the dog was, and how it should be put down, but the dog had never been a problem before.
StefyStuff 5 months ago

If parents had any sense they would teach their children that they should not go up to any dog on the street.
profssor 6 months ago 14
Border collies don't normally bite hard enough (even when provoked) to cause stitches, it's abnormal and can't be blamed on "herding behaviour" since nips inflicted while herding are not meant to be hard enough to damage livestock. If a border collie bites too hard, a farmer considers it a fault, won't use him to herd and most probably won't breed from him either.
This is CLEARLY an unbalanced dog, a normal dog would have moved away from the child. I love Border collies but this one ain't right.
Luculencia 6 months ago
As a owner of five wonderful Border Collies myself, this kid "had it coming." Border Collies were bred to be working dogs and children can look like small creatures to herd. Though any dog in general, can be provoked to attack, especially if a child swats at them. This kid should have been taught dog bite prevention and not making the dog so frustrated. I'm glad this dog didn't get put down and this child will just have to live with what she brought on herself. I'm sure Kujo is a great dog.
TeamMuseik 7 months ago
@TeamMuseik brought what upon herself? just swinging her arms? seriously? she had a dog of her own, and i'm sure her parents taught her how to behave properly. this girl is physically and psychologically scarred, and you're berating her!
PhantomWerewolf 6 months ago
@PhantomWerewolf You'd be surprised the about what parents don't teach their children. Some kids just don't realize that all dogs aren't the same. This is my view on the case between this kid and Kujo.
TeamMuseik 6 months ago
@PhantomWerewolf your sure??? how are you sure???
wy0c0wb0y 1 month ago
@wy0c0wb0y I'm certain that when she got her dog, she was trying to be rough with it, but was disciplined by her parents into properly behaving with a dog. This dog, if I'm interpreting the story right, was not purposely provoked by the girl.
PhantomWerewolf 1 month ago
@TeamMuseik I've owned nine Border Collies and never once have I seen any indication of aggression. Every single one of my Border Collies was raised around children and learned to respect human beings. This particular case doesn't prove that Border Collies are aggressive. Every single breed of dog has bitten someone or some thing in their life. That is a proven fact. Accidents happen and animals can be provoked. Life sucks, doesn't it?

1NecroSpawn 5 months ago
@1NecroSpawn All pitbulls are far, far more likely to attack than other dogs. The owner doesn't necessarily matter with them.
If you don't believe that, I hope you never have a kid around one.
citygirl5705 5 months ago
@citygirl5705 I have owned 9 dogs & foster(not all at once) i know pitbulls are more likely to become DOG aggressive. They are powerful dogs but people think because they look smaller than gsd & rotties that they arent strong. Pitbulls attacking people are just poorly bred and very untrained. Gsd are more likely to attack people but they are so well rounded/used for almost everything that people over look the attacks. Any dog can be aggressive but its the power of a pit thats scary to most.
1NecroSpawn 5 months ago
@citygirl5705 I would never let anyone touch a dog of mine or a foster dog without me fully trusting the dog myself. I hate when there is obviouse signs of a dog attack and no one does anything because they think their dog is just too sweet to do anything like that. I have had feral dogs and a wolf dog and they never once bit or showed signs of attacking someone because i get them out of uncomfortable & stressful situations.
1NecroSpawn 5 months ago
@citygirl5705 I have yelled at people before for provoking my dogs an they say things like "Oh he wont bite me i do this to my dogs all of the time" Thats when people get bit acting like they know all dogs. They think because they love dogs that all dogs love them. Or not asking to pet a dog then jumping/hugging some random dog, getting bit then blaming the owner. Just ask before they pet a dog OR if the owner knew the dog bites and goes out in public and doesnt muzzle it.

wy0c0wb0y 1 month ago
Aww...poor kid. :( I feel bad for her. I really hope things are better for her now. As for the dog, well, it's one of three things: 1) The dog was badly bred. Yes, if you breed two dogs that are bad tempered, usually you're gonna get bad tempered puppies. 2) Bad ownership. If you treat a dog badly, it's going to eventually respond in turn. 3) It had something wrong with it such as an injury or illness. If a dog is injured or ill, messing with it is a bad idea. But, I hope the girl is doing okay.
imabipolarbear 8 months ago
It's important to know that this dog is NOT responsible - it is the owner of the dog who is responsible for raising a dog this way and the dog is just as much a victim as the child. I seriously hope the dog OWNER recived punishment. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE NOT A RESPONSIBLE OWNER

ok, just a message to anyone who thinks that this dog should have been put down on the spot.

RAIDERS58th 1 year ago
@RAIDERS58th

If you convince someone pits are safe and a kid gets hurt because of it you should be ashamed.
pitmeister100 1 year ago
@pitmeister100 There are only 2 things I'm going to respond to. The other stuff you mentioned, well, good point. 1st thing, whenever there are facts and statistics showing bsl is not working....why always start saying, "it must be lobbyist with those numbers." The 2 countries I mentioned. The UK and New Zealand. Look them up. I tired to copy a link to this comment but can't. The DDA of '91 IS FAILING. Period. The New Zealand numbers...those were included in the news article.
FUzupf 1 year ago
2nd point. "Stats prove pit bull breeds cause far more death and medical emergencies than any other breed." as a Hater would say... SHOW ME. Show me the proof.
1. CDC doesn't correlate numbers anymore.
2. Dogsbite.org......Not an EXPERT. Period. Doesn't have scientific numbers, graphs, statistics from every single community in the US to combine and come to a conclusion that APBTs and AmStaffs attack more.
cont'd...
FUzupf 1 year ago
3. 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year . 885,000 require medical attention for dog bite injuries.
368,000 victims are sent to the ER.
31,000 people underwent reconstructive surgery as a result of being bitten by dogs.
FUzupf 1 year ago
Dogsbite.org tracks, what, over 1,000 pit bull attacks per year...(a safe estimate)
CravenDesires or Honesty Helps might track an additional 1,000 for a total of 2,000 pit bull attacks in the country.
Mind you.....this is just all estimated...but very generous in the numbers.
If there are 2,000 Pit Bull attacks and every single one requires reconstructive sugery............Where are the other 29,000 dog attacks??
What breed are they?
WHERE ARE THE OTHER 29,000 SERIOUS ATTACKS
FUzupf 1 year ago
And THAT my friend.....is just taking into consideration the attacks that require reconstructive sugery.
It does NOT include the other 855,000 dog bite victims that require medical attention.
Here's something that puts it into perspective.... Let's say the 885,000 attacks were all done by Pit Bulls. We would hear 2,425 Pit Bull attacks every single day!!
And that is STILL only 20% of the 4,500,000 dog bites per year in the USA
It's not a Pit Bull problem, that's simple math.
FUzupf 1 year ago
@FUzupf Do you want to share the source of the compiled numbers? Particularly the 4.5 million figure and the 31000 serious attack figure. ( The 2000 you are attributing to pit bulls +29000 "other serious attacks). I'd be interested in reading what the agency had to say .

@pitmeister100 Like I said....this is a generous assumption using DBO and CravenDesires as pit bull attack stats
FUzupf 1 year ago
@FUzupf The key word here in the groups you mention is" TRACK."The ones they TRACK does not mean they TRACK them ALL. There is no reason to believe that many more pit attacks don't reach these groups attention.Odds are the 2000 figure is low for that reason. In that case if not all pit bull attacks are reported ( you admitted you don't know what breed the other 29,000 attacks were made by -"What are the other breeds?") Hundreds are probably pit bull attacks not TRACKED by those groups.

If indeed those numbers (40% and 15%) have any merit.
pitmeister100 1 year ago
I said have you read about countries ,ONE STATE, and hundreds of communities banning or RESTRICTING pit bulls. It's true nutters are fighting against and sometimes defeating breed specific legislation. If these figures (40% increase and 15% increase) are correct in these 2 instances ( it's possibly a numbers game by pit bull lobbyists) There could be other reasons. Poor enforcement, poor definition of an attack, jerks going to a different breed, whatever. Ban ,neuter, restrict, whatever it takes.

@joeynem Where did you get these facts from and what defines an "attack'?
FUzupf 10 months ago
@FUzupf Real life. Everyday when I enter my house. Do you want me to record it too?
PlaguedMan 10 months ago
@PlaguedMan Sure. But I can't promise I'd watch it.
FUzupf 10 months ago
@joeynem NO the fact is that 75% of dog owners who choose breeds like Pitt Bulls, Rottweillers and Presa Canarios are MORONS who know nothing about dog ownership. The breeds you mention here are victims of uneducated uncivillized members of human population who if you ask me should all be put down and the dogs lives should be saved. If this is how you think, visit a sanctuary for these breeds who have been rescued and learn the horrid crap they go through just because they're not a poodle.

Would the reaction have been the same if the dog had been of "another" breed?

@shaybrew I think it's terrible how this happens, not ridiculous...
Court22132 11 months ago
@Court22132 --cntd-- ground and started viciously attacking her futher along her ribs and back as she screamed, moaned, cried, and begged for someone to help her while she tried to curl up in a ball. You're effin' ridiculous to think THIS is ridiculous! We ARE LIFELONG ANIMAL LOVERS and OWNERS!!! THEY ARE LIKE FAMILY!!
shaybrew 11 months ago
@Court22132 --cntd-- HOWEVER-- they ARE ANIMALS who, REGARDLESS of DOMESTICATION and GENTLE, yet firm, upbringing ARE CAPABLE of SNAPPING and returning to their instincts!! ALL DOGS ARE DESCENDED FROM WOLVES. Don't be a moron.
