  • I had been a fan for years, and never knew her real story. I feel honored to have her share this story with the world. As sad as it is to have Phoebe leave us,We should all rejoice knowing she is reunited with her daughter.

  • We were so honored to have be able to see her at the Lancater Performing Arts Center with my brother and sister in-law, she took our breat away and brought us to tears, she is one of the gifted artist who made us so passionate about music, a passion that our family( especially my brother Dennis and me) share deeply. Her love for her daughter is so moving and deeply felt, it jsut can't help but move your soul! Bless you Phoebe for ALL you shared with US, Good Journies! Lar, Den,Jeff & Dar

  • a super talent wow I hope she is reunited with her daughter

  • Beautiful woman, beautiful soul...THANK YOU for sharing your gift with us...

  • Touched my heart,I always sing the Stoufers commercial ,and Poetry Man, such a heartbreaking story.Rest in peace little girl, with Jesus....

  • I loved Phoebe Snow back in the 70s. A friend shared a video about her on Facebook with me today. I went to YouTube to put the video on my favorites list and found out that she died on Tuesday! A Beautiful Woman. A Beautiful Singer. A Beautiful Mother. The Heavenly Choir has a new bright star!

  • I had no Idea about Phoebe's blessing with such a child as I have. I know her dedication and determination as I feel the same about my blessing in a son. He is also my love and my life. I am fortunate to still have my 31 year old, and I know she is with her daughter today. My life experience has been on exactly the same as Phoebe's. May she rest in peace and enjoy being reunited with her love.

  • Only a mother can understand this kind of Love, God bless you Phoebe

  • I feel so lucky and honored to have seen Phoebe sing outdoors in NYC at Washington Square Park 2 years ago. It was one of the most touching and impressive performances I have ever seen. And man could she rock out. Amazing.

  • Goodbye, Phoebe. You were one of the best, both as an artist and a human being.

  • Very moving...

  • RIP Phoebe. I saw this amazing talent in Miami years ago at a music festival and was blown away. This was shortly her daughter was born. She ,as this video showed, spoke of her with such love in her voice. There are no words that can truly express the sorrow I'm feeling in her passing. There is happiness though in knowing she'll be singing in Heaven to the love of her life...........

  • So sad to hear we've lost a real diamond... her absence is even more profound when we learn she sacrificed her career to care for and raise a daughter with special needs so severe that, even by today's standards, I wonder how many parents would do the same (as opposed to surrendering the child - and 'burden' - to an institution). I am gob-smacked, because I never knew this (until now). Thank you, for sharing the details (above).

  • R.I.P. Love and sacrifice.

  • The untold story...Wow

  • Phoebe helped me navigate my way through the turbulence of adolescence. I am saddened about her passing.

  • RIP Sweet Phoebe. May you and Valerie enjoy eternity together. You will be missed here.

  • Rest in peace, sweet Phoebe.

  • Damn!!

Just heard Phoebe died this morning of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 58.

    RIP

  • My shero, and I will always be the fan that will absoulutely adore and respect her as a woman and artist. Let It Snow, Let It Snow

  • This is tragic. I remember as a college student in Pittsburgh, I saw her concert during a blizzard. Probably only 100 people could get to the hall but it was the best concert I've ever attended. Much love Phoebe and I hope you are in Atlanta soon.

  • All I know, all I know is that 'Love will save the day'. Much love to you Phoebe Snow.

  • I heard her recordings for the first time its amazing disposition is a nice tune I like the song alot. I also like the song I'm going down down for the first time,Get well phoebe snow ur in my collection of records we need to link up and record something.

  • Now Phoebe snow is suffereing from her own brain hemorhage - get well Phoebe!

  • INSPIRING name from history, beautiful voice

  • amazing!

  • You are without a doubt my HERO!!!

  • We are all weeping in love and admiration, and most of all-humility. Thank you, Phoebe.

  • Doesn't Valerie have the most beautiful smile? We mothers understand your devotion. We only hope we could ever be as wonderful to our own daughers as you were and are to yours. You're an inspiration, Phoebe.

    But then, you always were.

    snif, snif, snif.....thank you

  • Heart wrenching. May God bless and plesr heal our beloved Phoebe.

  • All the stuff Phoebe Snow has been though...and can you believe this? She recently had a brain aneurysm! I hear she's recovering, but oh my God, this woman has had it so tough. My thoughts and prayers go out to her.

  • God Bless you Phoebe Snow..

  • A devoted Mom, a wonderful woman of song and strength! Keep her lifted up in prayer.

  • What a story!

  • I remember during the period when she wasn't recording how I heard her singing in a TV commercial (GE?) doing some godawful Seals & Croft song that I hated the original of, but she made even that sound beautiful. Going to see her perform on New Years Eve!!

  • I also did not know Valerie had died. I remember Phoebe saying or writing on an album jacket that her daughter had spoken her first word and I thought her daughter was at least 5 years old by that time. That is when I knew her daughter was had a disability. There was a picture of the daughter on the album cover.

Valerie must have had the best Mom in the world to be there for her. Phoebe's songs have inspired me till this very day. Greatly!

  • This is so sad. You can tell she really loved her daughter. It is nice to know that she stayed strong and continues to give the world her talent and beauty with her remarkable singing style. God Bless Her. Thanks for the post.

  • Thank God for Linda Ronstadt.

She's absolutely right. We are on your side Phoebe. I remember when I was 8 years old and first saw Valerie's cute little face on the back of the IT FEELS LIKE SNOW LP. We will help you keep her alive by always being there when you tell her story in song.

  • I listened intently to Phoebe Snow on the Howard Stern birthday shows in the late 80s early 90s.

That woman was the most powerful and soulful singer of them all.

Best way I could describe her voice?: Try Ethel Merman and Mohammad Ali and about six Stevie Wonders.

She sung to the heavens... one of the FEW all time greats.

  • What a wonderful woman, so talented. And talk about grace under pressure! Raising a handicapped child on your own is no easy task, but Phoebe did it masterfully, with all the love and patience and dedication of a truly selfless, committed mother. It must have been hard, but the enduring love between Phoebe and Valerie was well worth it, a thousands times over. Well done, Phoebe. You did yourself, and Valerie, proud. Bless you. And Valerie.

  • Oh my gosh, not only can she sing like some escapee from heaven ..she is such a wonderful person she must have came from there. Her daughter was beautiful just like her Mom. : )

  • So glad CBS Sunday Morning did a story on Phoebe! I discovered her back when she released Poetry Man and have been hooked ever since! Phoebe is dynamite in concert! Also glad the interview explained the situation about her daughter. What an unselfish mother she was....

  • sad story-I never knew- love Phoebe's voice! wish her the best!

  • I've always loved her singing, but I had no idea about this sad story of her personal life. I am bawling my eyes out now. Thank you for sharing this touching video.

  • I watched Phoebe Snow perform in London, England when she came over to promote her 'Something Real' album. She sounded like one of the greatest singers ever. A real vocal original. Mass commercial success should have been hers for the taking. God Bless Phoebe!

  • I have loved Phoebe for all my Life! I am crying to hear of her daughter's death.

  • Phoebe Snow is simply the best.

  • touching story of a tragic medical mistake that changed Phoebe's life and the loyalty of her friend Linda Ronstadt whom anyone would be proud to have in her corner. a long and happy life to both of these women.
