cool vid bro. is this a century or interarms build? the added gun sounds arent terrible but maybe if you slowed the sound or stretched it it would sound more realistic?
@coolbuddykermit- I'm not sure who built this one (it's not mine), mine was at home during this shoot (I built mine), and this shoot was just to shoot a video on the new rifle he purchased. (I'm far easier being behind the camera when shooting video)
@THEKINGOFMETROPOLIS - It's always the guys with no videos telling people how to produce videos. you have a mute button. if you use it you will end up with the same video without sound. High speed video does not capture sound, and people expect to hear a rifle shoot, otherwise it does not seem right, so they complain that the music is too loud and you cannot hear the rifle shoot. watch TV where they show high speed video, and you normally hear sound for that reason.
As can be seen near the end of the video, I am shooting with both eyes open. Since I am new to rifles I am not sure if that is the proper technique for rifles? It was difficult with those AK sights.
I always shoot handguns with both eyes open to reduce the risk of being blind-sided by a second attacker in a defensive shoot.
I am really liking these slowmo videos... its beautiful to watch the metal dance an intricate ballet that we normally would never think about... The amount of timing needed for these firearms to perform as flawless as they do is simply amazing..
@Skragg101 - The amount of editing that go's into making these videos is enormous, yet I still get two dislikes, and you can bet I will never get many votes for best production in the 2012 Tactical Viewer Choice Awards despit getting nominated. the super channels will win the award not because they have better production, but because they have more fans to vote for them...
@DESERTHAWKIN - it was sold through Century, but it's not from the lot that had the incorrect twist rate causing the bullets to keyhole. I have one as well (this one is not mine) but I built mine from a parts kit with the original barrel.
That was enjoyable to watch. Good music and good visuals. It is hard to imagine such a solid object such as the rifle barrel flexing and bending until you see it from a high speed camera. It is also hard to imagine most firearms even work since they are normally rather simple until you see it like that, even if you understand the design.
@999sharif - Russia has been using the AK74 in 5.45x39 far longer than they did the 7.62x39 in the AKM due to field testing and wound results from the vietnam war, and dropped the 7.62x39 for the 5.45x39 even before the end of the War. The results were staggering enough to field the all new 5.45 right away. AK lasted 10 years, AKM lasted 16 yrs (7.62x39 was fielded for 27 yrs), and the AK74 has been in service for the last 37 yrs. Russia just announced the AK is now Obsolete. makes you think...
@MosinDragunov1891 - they make 7.62x39 models for outside sales. 5.45x39 has much greater range than 7.62x39, and likely greater penetration as well. both of which are special forces requirements, it's unlikely special forces would be using a less capable round, especially when the special forces are calling for a better, more modern rifle. (spec ops is another thing. in that case you use the same ammo as enemy to mask operations)

Wow, this is the BEST video I have ever seen on Youtube, not only in the category of AK but in the category of weapons. Great work!

@weaponeer I thought they still make AK-series rifles in 7.62x39mm for special forces upon request.

@MosinDragunov1891 Only for CQB (urban warfare) situations, only situations where the 7.62 has advantages over the small calibre 5.45.
