Could be from "pushing" back in the day and doing permanent damage to his voice. All of that screaming can't be good on the vocal chords. He had vocal coaching from a very young age though so I doubt that is the cause.

He was only in his early 20s during the days of Skid Row, thus I think the change could be due to natural maturing and aging of the voice.

It should be clear Baz has let himself go over the years. That said he still has amazing vocal range even if it is very rigid sounding.
