  • did this take place when Hong Kong was still under British control?

  • This must have taken place only days or weeks after Hong Kong was put under Chinese rule. Fascinating...

  • I am Canadian and I have a no star HK id because my parents are from HK. I can work in HK. I am really lucky.

  • @ifrit1780

    wow! bravo!

  • Even if we do not practice one child policy in hong kong, which of course we have no need for that, please do not make more than one children in hong kong, hong kong land area is not that big !!!!!!!!

  • People keep talking about how awful China is. Truth is, no country is better than another. Each has it's weak points and each has its good points.

  • The Chinese parents want a better future for their children that's why they go to hong kong or other countries illegally ...

  • Jesus! China is overruning the planet. They're flooding into Africa, with dreams of making it the wonderland communism made China into.

They've already taken over half of Japan and are now eyeing South America.

China is starting to become a problem for the whole damned world!

Making babies is supposed to happen only 2 or 3 times in your whole life , not a freaking annual event!

If the Chinesre keep this up they won't be welcome ANYWHERE! Stop making babies and stay in your own land!

  • @j1607760 shut the fuck up ..

  • 70,000 people Chinese immigrants in KOREA TOO!!!!!!!!!!

    Go back your country!!!! xDDD

  • Hong Kong basically is a different country - different passport, different customs, different government, different laws (no law in china is valid in hong kong and vice versa), different language (cantonese as opposed to mandarin), different writing (traditional chinese, Mao zedong wanted everyone on the mainland to read so he simplified the traditional form in hk). the only thing that is the same is foreign affairs, basically hong kong doesn't have a foreign ministry and an army - it uses china

  • @adeafningsilence It isn't that way anymore (unfortunately) China is making sure they make HK their own by integrating the next generation and forcing the children to think the way the government would like them to.

  • @lazypuddycat no i don't think so. i'm from hong kong so i would know. only the flags have changed and the call for democracy.

  • @adeafningsilence good, people should know that they should not be lumbing us together. Most of the success that make chinese look good come from the canton people of hong kong

  • well everything is different now tho

  • Stupid racist commentator. Philippines is a democracy, yet a freakin hell hole that people are trying to leave.

  • This video was made when Hong Kong was still a British settlement...and alot of people from mainland did want to go to Hong Kong because the economy was better there, and mainland China wasn't as developed back then

  • Stupid chinese and shame on chinese. How can the chinese called chinese is illegal immigration in china???

    You stupid chinese

  • @tungchankiet

There are lots of distinctive differences between Hong Kong and Mainland China. For your info, one of them is standard of living.

  • What a disastrous mess Imagine being an "illegal "immigrant" in your own country! It is mind-boggling that a Chinese person from outside Hong Kong has to go through a lengthy, laborious process of obtaining a permanent resident card to "legally" move in. Makes you wonder how it works the other way around.

Although it is encouraging that China as a whole is reforming, this video has really shown that the country has a LOOOONG way to go.

    One China, two systems indeed!

  • look at the info is from 1997 -___ which mean hong kong is still under British

  • The handover took place on July 1, 1997, so I'm not sure how Hong Kong could still be a British colony at that time.

Now of course, the "one China, two systems" policy would come into effect, and I can understand the reasons for it, but still, it creates this horrible situation for many Chinese trying to seek a better life in Hong Kong; and it's still not much better today.

  • My toilet paper made in china

  • Put ur dick out and fuck then, dumass, u will see what fuck means

  • another ignorant yank. indians, filipinos and tibetans dont look the same!

  • then burn all your clothes, threw all your digital products out of the window, hamer the furnitures and burn your cars, because they are ALL MADE IN CHINA.

  • throw you crappy computer out the window because it never works when I give you links

  • is this some sort of propaganda or what?

china and hong kong are both equally as great, dont just let these people symbolize what its like here

  • ever been there? u SEE the difference when you cross the border

  • i dun understand why the fuckheads think its funny to leave out the subtitles?

  • Yeah it's retarded how majority of journey man pictures have no subtitle or translation when another language is being spoken. If you want i can translate some of it for you.

  • Most people say how "good" China is.The truth of the matter is there are still lots of people there want to get away from China to Hong Kong hoping for a better life.

If there is no one country two systems in Hong Kong, those migrant may think of Taiwan or the Phillipines as another options to take.

  • Its quite different than it was 10 years ago.

  • i AGGREE

  • Subtitles would make the video more effective
