Simple. You move toward the beam. Why? If you remain in the same spot, the laser will activate its 'hit-box' thus killing you.

I think that's why it's called 'Honest Man's Death'.

My point was that this game really doesn't deserve such a reaction. Yeah, I've seen a lot of weird japanese games, which I won't go into <_< I mean, it's just "avoid bullets, shoot back"...there's nothing awkward about it. It's ESPECIALLY not a "WTF is this" game either.

Although I said it's "Avoid bullets, shoot back", simplifying really doesn't do the game justice, as what makes it so appealing is the difficulty and interesting bullet patterns, and the world created through these games is entertaining, which is why there is so many fan-products out there.you've seen "Galaga" or "Galaxian", right? Those are EXTREMELY SIMPLE version of this, by that, I mean you're mostly dodging the enemies and not bullets in those two. But there's nothing weird about this.

Move towards the laser right when you hear it start to fire. That will ensure that when the laser actually goes into effect, it'll be past you already.

I have a problem with Honest Man's Death because after I get past the laser I run straight into one of the tiny black bullets. D:

try to hug the side farthest away from the laser (for example, if the laser is coming from the right side, be grazing the left side of the bullets), so when the laser comes and you move against it to avoid being hit, you won't run straight into the other side

Mushihimesama is very much just chaotic, massive bullet patterns beyond what Touhou usually offers... but that's all it is. Touhou, by comparison, uses more intricate and unique patterns and bullet designs to make the game as much a beautiful thing to watch as a difficult game.

phoenix possesion is by far the coolest spell card, solely on the context of the concept that during it, you dont have anyone to shoot at to make it go faster :)

A lot of the playable characters in imperishable night were originally bosses from previous games. In fact, the primary main character (Reimu) appears as the boss of level 4 in this game. She even uses bullet pattern versions of the bombs she used in previous games.

It is hard at first, but once you memorize the places where you need to line up on the screen so you can dodge those big phoenix-trail bullets, it's pretty easy :) What I want to know is how people make beating 'Honest Man's Death' (the one with the laser and those pulsating bullets and the regular vertical-shaped bullets) seem so easy.

i did an extra stage run as well thats pretty much got the same amounts of death/bombing as you with remilia and sakuya except i suck at death bombing with other teams than reimu and yukari, you can find it in my videos if you want.

Heh, no problem man. I came up with my own tactics for the majority of these spellcards, but most of them seem to be the same as what people do anyway. I guess that for a lot of them there's only one effective strategy.
