Don't know whether to laugh or cry. At least we haven't had the pump in the toilet. We do know the Animas pump is water proof beacuse he went swimming in the ocean for 15 minutes before I realized!
I was diagnosed as a T1 at age 34. I thank God my mom didn't have to live through a life of having a child with T1. She already did enough for my family. I can't imagine having been that big of a burden on her time.
Excellent! Being a mother to a son with diabetics type 1 this is so recognisable. Good luck to all kids, mums, dads, brothers and sisters who have to live with type 1 diabetics on a daily basis. May the force be with you all. One day we'll beat the bugger disease!
Ah, that sounds like me asking my little sister that! It's certianly difficult to live with a diabetic, but it's even more difficult to live WITH diabetes (especially type 1) all your life. *goes to donate money*
I am constantly doing this during my day and as funny as the song is I started crying when the girl was going to pass out .. Scary stuff save video to favorites to spread awareness ..
this is a mom showing the life of her 2 diabetic daughters. She may have copied the song, but im sure that the lyrics are very original. But I'm sure you have NO idea what it is to live with diabetes. I should know. Its a year hat i have it. Wow, if your calling them copy caters youmaybe didnt notice that the other ladys is about a NORMAL life, NOT a diabetic life. Get your facts straight beforeyou accuse someone.
I am 18 and I have type 2 diabetes. I am a healthy teen. I didnt develope it because of weight because I am healthy but because my father has diabetes. I dont know what its like to have type1. We have to find a cure, but we have to get funding for the new technologies out to every type 1 diabetic and education about this time-consuming and probably still deadly disease. I'd like the lyrics posted, too.
Oh wow this is great!! I wish my mom was internet savvy because she would so relate to this! I got diabetes when I was 5 and put that poor woman through some stuff!!! Genious!!!
My sister has diabetes. I am writing this comment as my mom changes her pump. Great video, it still makes my mom cry, but it makes me and my sister (I'm 9 and she is 7) laugh.
Boy.... do you have it right. This is my life day in and day out.My daughter was dignosed 2 months ago. She is nine years old.My life has sure changed and very crazy. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding. So positive and upbeat yet sends a strong message to stay on top and in control of your illness. I am a nurse and if I were teaching newly diagnosed kids, I would use this video.
that is my life except i'm the kid its funny seeing it through a mom's life hehehe i got a problem w/ going low and my mom does the same thing at 2:10-2:15. hehehe. i like the fact that someone actually did a vid. cool man!
So far, only one of my 3 has type I but boy does this look familiar: the calorie king, the measuring cup of cereal, the empty strips box and run to walgreens. Thanks for posting! I too am laughing and crying!
I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 9 yrs old -in 1975! My poor mom had so many worries, and yet none of the technology we have today. I have to say we went through some very tough times, but I am now 42 years old, on the pump, surprisingly healthy, married and very happy. And my wonderful mom and I just went to France for 3 weeks. Where she didn't have to worry for one moment. We can do it, but not without you getting us there. Thanks DM Type 1 Moms!!!!!!!
I just went from balling my eyes out to laughing. (endo visit today) STRESSEDDDDDD OUT!!!!! Our kids must think we are crazy as hell! If I could take it from her...I would. I love you CC!!!!!! Mom-
My favorite part "NAIL THAT 504 TO THE SCHOOL HOUSE DOOR" MWAH HA HA HA!!! I don't have diabetes, but I have another life threatening disease, and I can relate to this still...finally they told us I was not to come to school when I needed my walker or wheelchair...then there was the abusive teachers...needless to say I'm now homeschooled! But this sounds just like my mom...I can't wait to show her...only a few more hours before she wakes up...LOL, I can't sleep yet again. THANK YOU!
"Raw for 30-Days will document the journey of five Americans suffering from Adult Onset Type II Diabetes..." KEYWORDS- ADULT ONSET TYPE II DIABETES. This video is about TYPE 1 DIABETES. HUGE DIFFERENCE..."Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that results in the permanent destruction of insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas." (wikipedia) Your intentions may be good, but your video has nothing to do with Type 1...it is in no way these children's fault!
Mother's unite! Nail that 504 to the school house door!!! Demand a R.N. in every school. Lay people can not provide the assessment or care for a Type 1 child at school. Please remember it is the school's responsibility to provide care for your child on field trips and outings. Demand that Nurses be available and trained to care for your diabetic child. I am a R.N. and a school nurse. I am not afraid of pumps or diabetes. Dear Mother, you do deserve a life! Trust me, I can do it.
This is amazing! my youngest brother is 13 and has had it for 5 years now, and this video perfectly reflects our family's typical day! Great Work!
I was wondering if there was any way i could get a copy of the lyrics for my mom. She wasn't able to understand the whole thing. I'd really appreciate it.
Just watched your video and it is right on!!! I especially liked the laminating the 504 and nailing it to the teachers door!!! I am going to e-mail this to all the nurses at our schools.
My husband and I have a daughter who is 15 and was diagnosed 4 years ago. He is still rolling on the floor laughing. Thanks for sharing our lives in such a humorous fashion.
I agree hands down, our son 3 has been diabetic since he was 12 months and I needed this today! I am going to e-mail this as well to everyone we know they will relate.. Thank you !!
Would It be possible to get a downloadable version of this song?
I could use it in the car espcecillay on Endo days. My second son was just diagnosed, so I can relate very well.
My boys are 4 and 8, although My 8 yr old only gets midnight checks when we do basal changes or if his bedtime BG is off, my little one gets midnight and 3 am checks.
I was just thinking how tierd i am and decided maybe I should listen to this song again, it made me like I wasn't alone.
My husband was a type I diabetic (diagnosed at age 5). After 39 years of life as described in this beautiful song, he received a kidney/pancreas transplant. No more insulin!
Good onya from NZ. My daughter is 12 and was diagnosed 7th Feb this year. Already, I can appreciate your humour! We wrote a funny poem to make light of our situation! I hope a cure is found SOON!
Wow, I am parent of a 13 year old boy with type 1 diabetes and am impressed with your talent and skill to recreate my day. How did you do that? Thanks for adding a little humor and laughter, and a few tears to my day. From, another mom, who knows what it is like.
We are so proud of our three girls for making this video. Thanks to Dad for the filming editing. It is truly difficult but they all do so well. We will be there with you to find the cure. Love Grandma and Grampa
I am a mom of a 14 year old type 1 --your video is ACTUALLY what happens at our home..thank you so much for putting this together--I am laughing so hard I 'm crying:>
We want to say thank you to everyone that has taken the time to view, share and respond to our crazy video. We did use the Momsense song as a jumping off point. Our bright idea was to simply change the lyrics to reflect what all diabetic families go through. As with all of our ideas, it morphed into something bigger. We wrote the new lyrics, recorded the song, and felt it needed something more. Of course, a music video
We had never taken on a project like this before, and halfway through we thought, "What did we get ourselves into?" However, once we started the editing process we could see our vision emerging. We had no idea that our little video would connect with so many. We are truly humbled. Thanks again for all of your supportive comments. We wish each of you a light heart and excellent blood sugars! Tricia & Melissa
i can just sit here and watch this over and over and over again and just get a kick out of it everytime! .. man it really hits a chord too...*pun*, -especially at 1:55.. the hell of passing out.. just really is disparaging.! i hate it when that happens!!!!
I'm CaelynTek's big brother, and I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years, since I was 2 years old. This video just simply rocked! I'm sharing it with everyone I know!
I'm a 37 year old type 1 Diabetic of 25 years. I sometimes get upset when I see how Diabetes "rolls off" some people. Too many think type 1 is no big deal, especially now with the massive rise in Type 2, interest and knowledge of Type 1 is being diverted to the "epidemic" of Type 2. Reseaerch and interest is being diverted towards 30+ something who JUST got Type 2. While we who have been Type 1 since childhood are left out in the cold. Ooops.. Sorry for the rant. I loved your video.
Love love love this! Thank you for making it ;)

THANK YOU!
ENCORE!!!!!

Thank You!

My husband was a type I diabetic (diagnosed at age 5). After 39 years of life as described in this beautiful song, he received a kidney/pancreas transplant. No more insulin!

Part I
We want to say thank you to everyone that has taken the time to view, share and respond to our crazy video. We did use the Momsense song as a jumping off point. Our bright idea was to simply change the lyrics to reflect what all diabetic families go through. As with all of our ideas, it morphed into something bigger. We wrote the new lyrics, recorded the song, and felt it needed something more. Of course, a music video

Part II
We had never taken on a project like this before, and halfway through we thought, "What did we get ourselves into?" However, once we started the editing process we could see our vision emerging. We had no idea that our little video would connect with so many. We are truly humbled. Thanks again for all of your supportive comments. We wish each of you a light heart and excellent blood sugars! Tricia & Melissa

I'm CaelynTek's big brother, and I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years, since I was 2 years old. This video just simply rocked! I'm sharing it with everyone I know!
getthecrave 3 years ago
I'm a 37 year old type 1 Diabetic of 25 years. I sometimes get upset when I see how Diabetes "rolls off" some people. Too many think type 1 is no big deal, especially now with the massive rise in Type 2, interest and knowledge of Type 1 is being diverted to the "epidemic" of Type 2. Reseaerch and interest is being diverted towards 30+ something who JUST got Type 2. While we who have been Type 1 since childhood are left out in the cold. Ooops.. Sorry for the rant. I loved your video.

Amazing work! Thanks for sharing this and helping raise awareness about life with diabetes and the need for a cure.
I invite you and all those watching the video to join TuDiabetes dot com -a social network for people touched by diabetes. See you there!
