  • how i can sound like that? i need advice! i have ibanez RG prestige+ line 6 amp+ chorus pedal? THANKS

  • @lanatureestbelle

get rid of all that crappy equipment, especially the chorus pedal,.....you just need an acoustic, older preferable

  • You said it a 1:40 "First get into tune" ;)

  • Do you know where Marblehead is ?

  • awesome video, very well done!

  • thinking this is an excellent lesson..been listening to this via spotify..this spot on...In this the guitar is tuned down half a step though - C# G# C# F G# C# - low to high.

  • Mmmmm its so dirty

    Dirty dirty

  • Correct me if im wrong, but Fred Mcdowell was North Mississippi Hills Blues,,, A World of differense from Delta Blues,, maybe thats why it dont sound right

But Mcdowell was defenatly NOT DELTA ............

  • thanks for the lesson, seeing as i do not play guitar, it was a wee bit hard to follow, but it helped in my kazoo playing, lol.

  • @fubar50cat ,

When you make a North Mississippi Hills Blues Kazoo video, I have got to see it !

    I been wanting a Kazoo anyway,, Make a video & I will follow ......

  • Thanks for the lesson. Nevermind the ungratefuls. Your arrangement sounds great!

  • @adamajah it sounds shit ...never mind its only a lesson .. everybody will play it like this if the take this for an example .... bad lesson sorry

  • Sorry dude.

The melody is not played correctly !

You ´d better listen to the original again.

  • @PeteBehnson ,,,"correctly"?

  • @PeluMaad Sorry dude. I made a mistake.

  • @PeteBehnson ....written music should be played "correctly"......but this is the blues. Are we on the same page?

  • @PeluMaad Exactly my opinion. But don´t call it "lesson".

    Happy Xmas Dude !

  • I am gonna take lessons from a man who can barely play the song he is teaching....no thanks buddy....probably been playing longer then this fool anyways

  • nice guitar, oh yeah!

  • A lot of Come On In My Kitchen in that......

  • @MILWAUKEEThriller08 - you're retarded. I live in the Delta and there are a ton of white guys here who play the shit out of the blues. Get your head out of your ass and step outta Wisconsin once in a while.

  • Very great!!

    What guitar model is?

  • i swear anybody who teaches somebody how to play delta blues guitar is retarded. you have to go by feel and ear. the guy playing the song is good but he has no soul. white people cant play like the delta guys could and never will

  • I don`t agree it`s not in the color ..but yeah this has no soul I agree

  • Why would a guitar lesson have "soul" in it? You can't teach soul, you can only teach the notes/technique.

  • @MILWAUKEEthriller08 i agree with you, but i don't think its a white or black thing. have you heard of dan auerbach? he is one of the few artists today who can channel the playing of rl burnside, fred mcdowell and junior kimbrough. and second of all, fred mcdowell is from the Hill Country, not the delta. there's a big difference.

  • @MILWAUKEEthriller08

    Lol......sad life for you

  • to all the people saying it's not open D, blues is rarely concert pitch.

  • Yes! I don't understand this Open D thing! It's a C#.....even when I listen to Fred McDowell stuff, none of it goes with my open D tuning.....

What should it be... Open C#....Open D...

Maybe if you're REALLY blue, it's Open C#....

  • @BoaRepublic Don't stress too much about being in A=440. When McDowell was playing there were no portable guitar tuners as we know now. Even the standard of A=440 was really only adopted in the 1950's. In Europe most orchestras tune to A=442 or somewhere a bit higher.

  • pdf at deltaguitar dot ning dotcom

  • nice teaching, nice song, but not a open D.

  • Its a open D tuning DADF#AD I dont want to confuse anyone,

  • Are the tabs available? Enjoyed the lesson. Thanks

  • @ocbob92720 pdf at deltaguitar dot ning dotcom

  • @kelvis97 No, it's NOT "open D tuning"!!! socratesbhz is correct (so don't piss him off, please!): your "D" is a kind of C#, but a little off. This "lesson" can followed if tuned by ear to "a kind of" C#-G#-C#-F-G#-C#. Please tune your guitar to an electronic tuner next time (or tune the A to a tuning fork at 440 Hz). In other words: make sure your "D" is a REAL D.

  • @socratesbhz think its a fret down so open C#

  • Nice slow lesson, thank you....I make it a half step down so:

    C# Ab C# F Ab C#

  • 1:55--open D??

  • Thanx for another great lesson.

  • Hi Kevin.I only just found this.Excellent piece and your guitar is a beaut.

  • Excellent lesson!!! I wanna thankyou for this video. I´m from Mexico city and I´m a big fan of Blues. I play guitar since I'm 13 (nowadays I'm 28) and the blues musicans are always my masters, but this videos improve my knowledge about the blues. Thankyou Kelvis97, my best wishes from Mexico!!

(P.S. sorry about my english, but you know what I mean)

  • Is that McTell at the start in an ATlanta hotla room ? what a picker

  • Excellent teacher, very informative. Are your tabs available to download please? Can`t wait for your next video!

  • Can't find PDF on that website. Help?! Still a great lesson. Thanks.

  • Look here put dots were the comma is and no spaces:

    deltaguitar,ning,com

  • In this address there are not the letters that stand for World Wide Web, but all addresses start w/ the HyperTextTransferProtocal, then the 2 forward slashes

  • I found it ... thanks so much!

  • Great guitar lesson. Just want to mention, though, that the original the clip opens with is in open E tuning, not the open D the instructor comes in with later.

  • FUUUCKIN/ AWESOME.

  • Awesome lesson :O!

trying to keep up with you

    but its working!

    :P

  • Fantastic instruction! The best part is the beginning where he actually plays the note that each string is tuned to. Most instructional videos I've seen don't make a point of this and it's critical for a newb.

  • this guys vids can be downloaded as podcasts. good teacher. omg the intro picture of blind willie is so cool

  • Does anyone know what Martin he's playing on the Good Morning Little School Girl album cover?

  • Your tuning is actually ½ step down.

  • sounds good....sounds good

  • Man you bet i going to practice this !

i have been learning Delta since well ,like 2 days now , i have some basics that need to be skilled but i have been playing since some years before :)

I let you know when the time has come how i sound by then :)

  • that sounds really good thank so very much for the lesson!

  • great, is that a old national triolian? i have a 1932 one

  • Hi;

No just bought it last summer

in Cambridge, MA. I have always wanted one

& saw this one, had to get it.

    Its my baby I guess.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • Do you do Delta Blues lessons in the Boston area?

    Thanks

    Howard

  • Hi Howard; I live North of Boston in Merrimack Valley, very close to New Hampshire. I am not too sure how far away you are?

    Thanks

    Kevin
