  • if a pair of oscars live in a 30 us gallon/120 litre tank , they will both grow 8-10inches

thats with weekly 1/4 water change, and you will have to take decorations out while they grow.

some people say its inhumane,if the fish are healthy looking/acting then your doing nothing inhumane

these fish get better diets and care then 1/6 of the human world population

hek,jab the fish with growth hormones and get underground oscar fighting matches going

OFC - oscar fighting championships lol

  • im not here to bag on anyone or troll but I am here to ask how the fish are doing now I see comments from a year back so how are the fish..? If the fish are good Id have to say 55 gallon is plenty of room. PPL are always gonna bitch and those out there that have the money to throw away will be housing there single Oscars in 100gallon or more like dumbass's and monitoring their ph every morning after that first cup of coffee

  • your camera sucks

  • wow!you have 4 tanks!

  • that s not a 55 gallon i think that s rly bigger

  • which pixel is the fish?

  • People need to realize, screw ph levels, water temps, nitrates, ammonia, ect. Go back to basics. These fish are from the amazon and lakes in africa. These fish are very hardy, they're not some lab expirament. Sure the bio load will become bigger when the fish get bigger in a 55, but its not that big a deal. These "experts" need to stop trolling on everyones videos and just enjoy the god damn fish.

  • @slereosh if anyone needs proof of this i had a convict and pleco in 10g for a year with only topping off water and changing the filter like 3 times with no problems and yes they are still alive and in a 20 gallon now lol

  • @slereosh my fish were a little crowded in my tank wich is 55 gal i have 10 chiclids at 6" 2 baby cat fish and 3 oscars that will get around 15" the water was getting dirty realy fast so i added a second filter system one is a fluval 305 and the other i added is a fluval u2 everything in my tank is fine again

  • how do you get your bubbles like that

  • Did you record this with a stick?

  • mine camera

  • ignore my comment below, i wouldn't try this unless my africans were from lake malawi or else the ph wont overlap

  • there ph tolerance and temp overlap so as long as they dont kill each other i dont see a problem

  • @BigolePappy2 exactly man, im only 15 but i know alot more about fish than most people having 5 tanks, 55 gallon african mumba cichlid, 37 gallon sps reef, 34 gallon red sea max softie tank, 26 gallon endler colony, and a 10 gallon mixed reef. sure a oscar CAN live with cichlids, but it shouldnt be that way. african cichlids need hard high ph water around 8, and oscars, which are south americans prefer ph around 6.5

  • haha i wish my oscar and cichlids got along like yours but that didnt happen so i just bought a new tank and now have 1 oscar tank ad 1 for just cichlids nice tank tho p.s. 9 inch tiger oscar in 55 gallon tank had him since i was 8 and im now 18 and his still alive its not about tank size its about how u take care of ur fish but ppl always have there own opinions ;) i bought him young when he was a baby and he will let me pet him hes slimy but its pretty funny friends wont touch him=p

  • from my past experience african cichlids need that higher PH otherwise if you lower the levels along with say like a Green Texas Cichlid you're going to have issues meaning they can turn into little buttheads if the PH is too low....however if all the cichlids are bigger...go ahead and keep the PH levels up cause they can handle the higher levels with the African Cichlids...

  • i have an oscar alone in a 29g and hes fine. he isnt growing full size ether. proof to people who are like "its 11in long so you cant have it in a small tank" -if you have it in a smaller tank is whole life then it wont grow 11in

  • @FishMan329

Keeping large fish in small tanks is unhealthy for them especially a fish that grows rather quickly.

  • How do you get big bubbles like your tank?

  • beautiful set up

  • @fishguy113 so if its trial and error, somehow i can get a silver arowana to live with a saltwater yellow tang if i keep trying, lol

  • @aardvarkassualt

Yeah. whoever said animals together is trial/error is ignorant of basic biology. All animals are set biologically to interact a certain way within a habitat. It doesn't matter what kind of "personality" they have. I can have the nicest Cheetah, but I don't think trial and error is going make it coexist with a Gazelle.

  • hey im just wondering to the guy who made this vid, do you think the tank is to small? because im getting one soon for my oscar, and i think im getting a jack. just wondering how you like the setup. thanks

  • bad mix...worse gravel

  • i have a tiger oscar, albino tiger oscar, 2 convicts a pleco and a telescope goldfish, never once bothered eachother.

  • @uncletally123 thats terrible 2 oscars needs at least 125G and a goldfish is coldwater it shouldnt be in a heated tank

  • @Pararescue001 no u dont need a 125 a 55 will do fine for 2

  • @hookincatfish1 your terribly wrong go to monsterfishkeepers(.)com and see how many ppl will tell you otherwise..

  • @Pararescue001 my friend im part of monster fish keepers lol and owned alot of oscars if thier the only fish with 2 convicts trust me they will b fine

  • its fantastic ohohohoho

  • nice fish

  • dumb ass. why would u put blue gravel in a tank, and south Americans in with African chiclids

  • dont send me your electric or water bill, it would be inconsiderate of you

  • What size tank is he in now? Hopefully a larger one.

Good job with the tank however. Nice clean water and healthy fish.

  • i dont think you have enough aquariums

  • i have 3 oscar fish in a 55 gallon fish tank, is the tank too small for the oscars

  • im tired of hearing about fish needing a bigger tank shut up are u going to buy the tank mr/mizz captain planet??

  • oscar vs yellow lab, wait for it mate.

  • Way over stocked. Other then that looks nice.

  • i have 2 angelfish, an oscar, a red tailed black shark and 3 clown loaches in a 4ft tank. im about to go away to europe for a month and my pop is going to take care of it for me. will he have 2 vacuum the gravel or can he justtake some of the water out and replace it without vacuuming the gravel. note that i have an oscar and he is usually messy. can some one help me if so i would greatly appreciate it.

  • i don't think you have enough tanks! haha love your aquariums

  • your fish are fine and there is enough room for them if you keep ur oscar he will need a bigger tank or to be alone in that one . plus the ph difference the fish require is not to far apart , if u keep it in middle ull be just fine

  • That has to be one of the most unnatural looking tanks I've ever seen. Between the blue gravel and mixing africans with south american fish. Just a mess of a tank.

  • @LESTATAK fuck off

  • @123FIREball200 okay....but your tank is still unnatural looking. When i look at it I just get sick to my stomach. You just seem to be completely ignorant to the types of fish you have. I'm hoping you come up with a bit more of a intelligent response but I'm not surprised by looking at your tank.

  • @LESTATAK ya and your fucking tank with the plastic pipe isnt unatural if i anted a natural looking tank i would go uot side and lookinto the river what is the point in keeping fish if you dont costumize it

  • @123FIREball200 you're a cholster!

  • That's alot of fish for a 55 gallon. I only keep one oscar and one plec in the same with a penguin 350. Still, looks great so keep it up.

  • i like the bubbles makes the tank look better

  • The bubbles look good and they are essential. Especially for the smaller tank, rather large amount of fish, and if and when meds are needed.

  • how old is that oscar m8 and is that tank 4 ft long just wondering coz id like an oscar like your 1 lol .

  • plz have a look at my new 55g cichlid tank and tell me if there is anything i can do to make it better thx

  • i have an albino oscar and birchir eel in the same tank with 2 filter 60 gallon and 20 gallon its 55 gallons can i add a eletric cichlid or jackdempsey

  • A penguin 350 biowheel powerfilter. Would it fit on a marineland 46 gallon tank with a full hood? I'm starting a saltwater tank and I'm going to have jawfish so there has to be a hood.

  • so by him haveing that powerful filter he can keep all of those fish

  • PLECO fans UNITE!!!

  • Nice

  • pllease tell me if i buy a baby oscar its my 1st time buying oscar i dont knoe wat size baby oscar but will te oscar eat my cichlid my size is just ike urs i have 4 cichlid

  • oscars will eat anything that fits in there mouth. oscars have BIG mouths.

  • how big can oscars mouth be

  • it depends, some oscars grow bigger than others. but, if you look at the vid at :05 you can see an electric yellow cichlid, i have seen many oscars eat fish the same size as that elec. yellow.

but, it also depends on the oscar. i have a friend whose 10" oscar never eats any small fish. however, my old oscar, use to eat everything that swam by.

  • @ cichlidkeeper89 All oscars should be able to get to at least 14" given the correct conditions. The most variation in adult sizes should only be about a 2-3" difference.

  • i feed my oscars tiger barbs

  • expensive food

  • @JustMe31598

Yeahh why wud u feed africans to an oscar

  • Ask your fishstore instead of in the youtube comments.

  • learn how to spell/write and then maybe i can help you out

  • Wow, spelling nazis on youtube. Maybe someone cant spell as good as you that dosent mean you have to make fun of them. Only if you could use proper punctuation you need to capitilize the L in "learn' and a period at the end of the sentence.

  • this is true lol

  • lol

  • can someone subscribe me, I'll subscribe u back. I just want tog et to 50 subscribers I have 2 now xD.

  • when you first put up your tank were there a lot of bubbles?

  • well every tank cause it's oxygen

  • Yes, new tank syndrome

  • can i keep an oscar in a 55 gal for life?

  • Well yes if its by its self but I would not recommend it. Try and upgrade if you can.

  • dont let anoyone tell you this tank is over crowded and ur fish our missed matched there is no miss match in fishkeeping its all trial and error every fish has its own personality and some fish can tolerate others more but like people might say o u have a cichlids and sa cichlids ur dumb tell them to fuck off becuase ur fish just have the personality to handle each other i personally have 3 yellow labs with my oscar and they do just fine my whole tank is a so called impossible tank but it works

  • You must really be a newb. It isn't all about the personality of the fish, there are multiple problems with this tank. For one thing, Oscars and African cichlids have opposite pH and water hardness requirements. Also, this tank is WAY overstocked. Do you not realize that Oscars can easily get to well over a foot in length? The jack dempsey will also outgrow the tank, as they can grow to about 10"-12".

  • @fishguy113

you idiot, this isn't even about personality, the fish need different ph requirements. You are shortening the lifespan of your fish by putting them in inproper conditions. Ever seen central american cichlids in an african tank? They turn BLACK and live 1/3 of their lifespan. You fucking idiot.

  • say that to my tank ive had up for 2 years with basically the same fish have only lost one fish ever

  • @djfsolo really because i have had green terrors oscars and jack dasempseys in an african tank and they all lived a 10 -13 years and where just as coulerfull and livly as the africans and even looked better than my freinds south american tank

  • @fishguy113 True there are no set rules in fish keeping.

  • @ninjagambit there are def rules you should go by in fishkeeping in order to get the full potential out of your fish.

  • @fishguy113 So true. I get tired of being told "don't put an Asian, South American, and African fish together!" when really it's all about who gets along with who. Some Oscars tolerate Gouramis, some don't. Some Yoyo Loaches will harass all the fish in the tank, some will be peaceful as ever. I once had Corys with a Red Tailed Shark and he would not tolerate them at all. The other Red Tail I had in a different tank had absolutely no problem with them.

  • @fishguy113 this tank set up is all I've ever owned ;-) Oscars, JD's,&cichlid's.

  • i took a bad risk today. i tried to put my 1 inch oscar wit my 5 inch jack dempsey and 1 inch flower horn to see if they would be fine together but my oscar was sooo beat up..(i was out for a while, so wasnt supervising them) by the cichlids, i had to take it out and put it in my holding tank..its like about to die =[...pleasee do u have any tips or comments on how i should treat my oscar and get him healed up? THNX

  • just isolate him in another tank, keep the water quality clean, and wait.

i bought a jack dempsey and managuense cichlid at like 0.75", and my main tank has a 4" oscar and 5 1/2" bichir so they're currently living with two otocinclus and angelfish xD

  • Oscars tend to get beaten up in tanks with aggressive CA cichlids like those, try and keep him on his own.

  • bullcrap dude , the oscar will tear it up because when i tryed to keep my elec. yellow and bumblebee cichlid in wit it they got eatin

  • Erm, they got eaten, as they could fit in the oscar's mouth, not because the oscar was aggressive. All fish will eat other fish if they can fit in their mouths. Glass catfish will eat neon tetras, even though glass catfish are peaceful fish.

  • probably because oscars are south American i think and those other 2 you said are probably African

i could be totally off tho

  • Now looking at it more closely I can see it's a Jack Dempsey. Funny the oscar knew to back away when it came out. LOL. A big dempsey like that will terrorize an oscar. Very aggresive. The Managuense was smaller than the oscar when I got him. Due to their more aggressive nature, I planned it that way. Gives the Oscar a chance. Well, the Oscar bullied the hell outta the Guense until one day, the Guense grabbed hold of the Oscars bottom lip and locked down. Then the tables turned, LOL!

  • I really love that tank setup. Very nicely done. Have a question. at :48 is that a Managuense? I used to have one along with an Albino Tiger Oscar. The video is a bit blurry, so I couldn't tell for sure. Thanks...

  • how do you keep the tank so clean? where did you find a big pleco? my flowerhorn will kill any pleco goes into my tank. so much algae

  • Nice tank, however your camera made everything look censored.

  • "pixelated"

  • What was the fish in the tank on the left of the oscar/cichlid tank

  • Ah I love your tank setup! It's beautiful! I can't have many decorations in my oscar/cichlid tank because we're getting a stingray in there next week..........but it's worth the loss of decoration for that guy. lol.

  • hella fish tanks

  • what are the dimensions on your 55g? It looks longer than mine lol!

  • Nice

  • Nice

  • I agree , the tank is fine , just need good filtration with oscars, my 2 young oscars are housed in a 30 gallon for now, 2 hob filters and 1 sponge filter, with weekly water changes , it is crystal clear, come winter are going either in a 80 g or 130 g.

  • anyone who says 55 gallon is too small for those fish should take a some hot sauce and squirt it into their dick/vagina and then squirt it up their fat ass

  • theres a lot of dumb comments on this vid like the tank is too small.. obviously its not too small the fish are swimming in the open and the water is damn near the cleanest thing.. nice tank man

  • thanks

  • yeah bro you dont know shit about fish keeping dumbass

  • u only need a 100 gal tank if ur fukin breeding the oscar u only need the least a 70 gallon just to keep it so u dumasses just stfu

  • @hockeyguyrs ye good point it makes me mad when ppl bitch about that shit.

  • @hockeyguyrs

Oscars can grow to 17 inches. It my be ok for now but it will out grow that tank.

  • @hockeyguyrs tank is too small. you can tell he just filled this tank up. theres no algae from those bright lights. a pleco isnt that good. and a 55 is just barely big enough for an oscar alone.

  • @hockeyguyrs

Do you realize that none of those fish are fully grown? Oscars can get 17 inches. That is wider than a 55 gallon. I had to move my South American Cichlids to a 150 gallon due to there size.

  • who knows if i could put a jag with an oscar?

  • depends on the temp requirements

  • Ho dude, U've gotta U're resolution right. Lighting looks cool but can't really see the fish!

And watch out for the hungry Molly LOL :) FM

  • this tank makes no sense dumbfuck!!!!

  • You do know oscars eat chilids, i had both in my tank 2 oscars, and 1 chilid, and the girl ate the child, goldfishes are food for oscars. So if i were you i would think about if you should keep chlids in that tank,

  • Actually if you buy an oscar when its very young about an inch or 2 inches and feed it pelets and flake food, and keep him around fish of his size, when he starts getting bigger he wont attack the other fish he grew up with. Maybe you should do some research. Oscars are made out to look like a monster but they're not. Thats why you have these assholes that have vids on here of their punk bitch Paranhas eating Oscars. I guess they think its supposed to impress people.

  • Well both oscars AND cichlids will eat anything small enough to fit in there mouth. They're fine together as long as they're around the same size...and if they're in odd numbers. I have 3 oscars and 2 cichlids and they get along wonderfully. ^_^

  • but some cichlids will be over aggressive on the oscars so you have to watch them

  • i'm afraid the mollie might kill the oscar lol

  • oscars need more then a 55g how you gunna put a 12" fish in a tank thats 12" wide... HUH!?

and most african cichlids need to be overcrowded and cleaned OFTEN to reduce aggression.

    oscars are S. American cichlids

  • Where did you get the fish from, i have a 55 gallon tank all set up but cant find a prize fish to put it in. Where should i get one from?

  • isn't it a little crowded for a 55 gallon? i thought it was a minimum tank size for 1 oscar

  • you have a lot of very nice fish

  • yea wtf is that african cichlid doing in there

  • wow .. what size of tank ?? pls reply,,

  • look at the title dimwit

  • 55 gallon

  • I currently have a 55 gal with African (yellow labs + pseud.demasoni) a blue gourami and some brilliant rasboras. Been together for over a year with no problems - gourami is about 3rd in pecking order. Demasoni spawned once during that time. They are aggressive but only to each other, even tho blue gourami has similar colors to a subordinate.

  • Nice tank. I love fish. I like your setups. I see that you have 4 aquariums1

  • do u ever get any problems with the oscer and the pleco

  • once in a while

  • so dose it ever harm the oscer or dose it just chase the oscer

  • IT would be the other way around.

  • dude you cant put south americans with africans

  • what the heck? africans and south americans? they cant be in the same tank..

  • LOL. Yeah they can if there managed properly.

  • Oh and nice tank dude!

  • You're stocking is less than desirable. Africans, which are hard water high ph fish, with a South American, which is a softer water lower ph fish. That Oscar should have that tank to himself. Period. And even then, its still on the small side. Please do some research before you go out and buy fish and throw them all together.

  • Remember that even though it is less desirable, the O's will adapt to a wide range of water chemistry. The thing to be worried about in this situation is if they show aggression to different species. I have a similar set up and all the fish are fine. And I have done all the research you could think of. And yes all the research says "Do Not Keep These Fish Together" however there is always exceptions to the rule.

  • Ive always kept my oscars In 8.0 Ph. I guess growing to 13 inches means they didint like the hard water...

  • wish the quality of the video was a little better so we could see it better :)

  • wish the quality of the video was a little better so we could see it better :)

  • me too, crappy webcam

  • that's so funny. i have the same size tank with the same filter also being broken in with a very similar assortment of fish! weird...

  • hey do oscar and chichlid eat same food like they both eat chichlid sticks

  • oscars are cichlids.

  • Hi, I know fishkeeping is a great hobby and I need some advice. I'm getting a 55g tank but I don't know if these fish will kill eachother, if I should lose one, if i just need a bigger tank, or if I don't need either the catfish or pleco. I was wondering about getting a GT, JD, Convict, Texas, a catfish and a pleco. I will provide adequate caves/shelters Etc... Thanks for the help

  • I would leave the Pleco out, gets too big and cause more waste than it cleans, would also leave either the JD, GT, or texas, or maybe leave all 3 and get a Severum!

  • Hahaha, I've had a Green Severum very nice fish, it grew to about 10 inches. (She was a female) Yeah you're kinda right about the Pleco, i'll just clean the sides with a sponge.

  • If it were me id go with a group of convicts, maybe like 6 small ones, and some catfish(pictus cats would work well) convicts are easy to breed, and you would get some enjoyment out of breeding them.

  • I would but I'd rather have a JD or GT, Convicts are nice but I'm not looking to breed anything. Are Convicts good by themselves or do they need a mate to be happy?

  • convicts are fine by thereselves, between the JD and GT i would go with the GT there generaly less agressive and IMO much better looking.

  • Haha, alright. Convicts and GT are nice fish.

  • oscarfishlover. com

  • that is a gay tank,he needs black rocks with drift wood

  • how do you make the bubbles in the back come out slowly? please answer back

  • they are just bigger. if you have a airstone thats maybe like a 6 inch bar stone, then alge will grow on it and create bigger bubbles due to blocking some of the stones surface completly. also you can find decor that lets out bigger, slower moving bubbles as well.

  • just cover up the air stone-bubble bar/wall with some of the gravel.

  • The easiest way is to cover it with gravel, not too deep because it will look like one giant bubble.

  • thats a lil small

  • nice to see clean tanks!

  • 75 gallons should be fine for 2 oscars.

  • hursty002, you should only put 1 oscar in a 55 gallon NO OTHER FISH. they get HUGE and produce a ton of waste. i suggest that you research on oscars before you buy one. and you should have one hell of a good filter for that oscar. you would need a H.O.B filter capable of filtering your tank 10X over. or a canister filter that filters 4X over. i have a red oscar in a 55 gallon with a canister filter that filters 350 gallons per hour.

  • hey should i get anouther oscar and put it in a 75 gallon?that will make it 2 oscars in a 75 gallon tank:)i already have one...

  • depends how big is ur current oscar because if its more then a year old its gonna beat the crap out of any new tankmates cause its "his home" lol

  • yah i just got the other oscar a week ago!so i dont think it will beat it up!they will be the same size unless he grew in a week!i will b getting anouther oscar SOON!albino tiger or a common red oscar

  • hursty002, you should only put 1 oscar in a 55 gallon NO OTHER FISH. they get HUGE and produce a ton of waste. i suggest that you do some research on oscars before you buy one. and you should have one hell of a good filter for that oscar. you would need a H.O.B filter capable capable of filtering your tank 10X over. or a canister filter that filters 4X over. i have a red oscar in a 55 gallon with a canister filter that filters 350 gallons per hour.

  • What kind of bulb do you have??? And what size air pump???? Tank looks cool!!!
