  • Hearing this is great but in person, the experience is almost overwhelming. There is NOTHING like a live performance.

  • i think this recording sounds fine. the slower tempo it nice sometimes.

  • What a wonderful organ!!!

  • I think that the version of Odile Pierre is better. This is too slow!!

  • Widor himself played most of his works far slower than is now popular... uses the acoustics of the building better. We are fortunate that he was recorded on a number of occasions.

  • A tad slow but still very nice! Gorgeous organ as well, I've played it and there are so many stops... it's overwhelming !

  • Trop lent, vraiment trop lent!!!! On a le temps de mourir 15 fois en l'écoutant!!!!!!

  • And where is it performed?

  • @iAlexxxey As listed in the comments (!) First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston MA, from the CD The Boston Years

  • Quite slow, and the organ doesn't sound that French .-(

  • Impressive! Very nicely recorded - the building acoustics don't smear the organ notes. In defense slower tempo, that is often desirable for listeners in a big cathedral; a little extra time allows the reverberations to dissipate, improving the definition of the notes.

  • i think Ben van Oosten's version is perfect as far as tempo is concerned.

  • I like this sound, and also the slower tempo is OK with me. I can hear the notes more clearly.

  • A bit slow, it's some of lethargic.
