On another note 5 years ago i would have maybe said Tony Morgan...But the last few years or so he's been a common SOB....I think he plays alot of games it's almost like he doesn't wanna win..I know he's got loads of talent but never does anything
Shelly Goudreau was the greatest driver I ever saw bar none. He always gave the the horse he was driving the best chance it had to run its race and the horses responded by improving their race times. Sadly he died in a racing accident when he was only 34 back in the fall of 1982.
Of course, this is all opinion. And of course this is 2011. Times change, people and horse's (all athletes) get better. BUT - most of these guys were'nt there when Harness Racing was at it's peak in the late 60's and the 70's at the GREATEST TRACK OF ALL - Roosevelt Raceway !!!!!!!!!! I remember when the older Meadowlands drivers started out there. You would love them and hate them at the same time. Ron Pierce got it right ! O'Donnell - NOT !!! It has nothing to do with the amount of money won.
The 5 Best of all time: 1-john campbell 2- herve Filion 3-stanley dancer 4-dave palone 5-Cat Manzi...............The future is Tim tetrick and brian sears............................and shame on all of you for leaving out "the Standard" stanley dancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a half mile track no one could beat Walter Case jr....They all use to go to Yonkers and try....And they all failed.......Best small track driver ever hands down....
Campbell blamed Ron for a bad accident he had a number of years ago during the Breeders Crown at Mohawk.
Than when Pierce had Donato Hanover and John drove and owned Flirtin Man they went at it again. John tried parking Ron in one of the big fall finals and cost himself 2nd place. Ron bashed him for it. Campbell replied with a letter to one of the industry magazines bashing Ron.
Walter Case gets mentioned 3 times! I think he was by far the best. He was insane. I remember him driving those single hitch sulkies at Yonkers all over the track! First time Case at Yonkers would subtract 5 seconds from a horses time. He wasnt just driving good horses. He was winning with garbage. Mike Lachance couldnt drive a nail through a piece of balsa wood.
Ronny Pierce fails to mention Campbell. I realize he doesn't care for him on the race track, but give some respect where it is due. I believe he was the only one not to mention JC.
And Brennan mentions himself! Which I believe deserves to be mentioned with this crowd, but he is the only one to mention himself lol
Don't be so modest Georgie!!!

Pierce and Campbell don't get along at all.
Campbell blamed Ron for a bad accident he had a number of years ago during the Breeders Crown at Mohawk.

Never realized how much Ronnie hates John. Should be Campbell, Herve, Haughton, Dancer and O'Brien. Then LaChance, and Case.

Hats off to the young and knowledgeable Yannick Gingras for naming Stanley Dancer as one of the best drivers of all time.
I am sure that touched Holly's heart in a way that is hard to explain.
Great job, Yannick!
