@theckstyles Yep of course it does... oh I mean I'm also running a Phenom II x4 with this ;) but really any PSU will work with any CPU as long as you have enough power to run the entire system (video card, hard drives etc) all adds up. This PSU is enough to run any mainstream system as long as it's not got a pair of high end video cards or something crazy like that.
@TH0RAXXE Umm yeah I think it could but it only has 2x 6-pin PCI-e connectors IIRC and each of those cards has 2 right? But even with adapters I think this PSU could handle it. But wouldn't hurt to go a little bigger just to be safe.
@TheOnlyHero91 Maybe CX is Corsairs sort of entry level line. There's two main versions of the CX600 there's a CX600 V2 with 80+ certification the original wasn't 80+ certified. Plus those aren't modular either so it depends if you want the modular or not.
@DanFSD Well okay I guess the OCP kicks in at 50A as the 25A x2 ratings on the chart imply and everyone goes by that. I suppose it can do 42A continuous and the OCP trips at 50A?
@armorfid Shows how much you know about power supplies. I replaced a cheaper 550W Peak PSU that put out only 32A on +12V rails for a 600W continuous that puts out a much higher 50A on +12V rails so it's actually much more powerful. Oh and it's 80+ certified so it's more efficient, it has Active PFC so it has more accurate voltage regulation under load oh and it has much lower output ripple so it won't kill my video card and CPU VRM capacitors as quickly. This PSU is many times better.
@MN12BIRD It all depends on the reasons why you are replacing your PSU. I saw a guy who had a perfectly working 500W and decided to upgrade to a 550W of the same series just because his system "would run better". I didn't listen to what you said in the video because it's not the reason that brought me here and that's why I thought you were like that guy, but the detailed explanation of the reasons behind your upgrade makes much more sense.
I am about to build my 2nd build wich will contain one 6970 with this psu but in the near future i will get another one and xfire them will this psu hold them?i hve been told that for xfire 6970 u need at least 650w
@Lordkingxz Yeah it might be "okay" with two 6970's but I probably wouldn't feel comfortable with them! I'd upgrade to a Corsair TX750 v2 or something else bigger to be safe.
@CarolinaCountryGuy Oh yeah you'll have plenty of power and those CX600's aren't bad. They aren't as good as the TX or HX series but they're still really good and have a 2 or 3 year warranty and are about %80 efficient (V2 revisions are 80+ cert originals aren't but they're so close to spec anyway) and have APFC and all that stuff you want in a decent PSU. Anyway don't worry you got more than enough power there!
@king123421 It reached in my Antec Three Hundred but it didn't leave much extra length to get around things neatly and could have done with a little more.
@HybridPineapple Yeah it's true on most of their models. But that can be said for most PSU's even many so called good name brands. Truth is I bought this PSU cause it was a deal when I needed a PSU that weekend and they didn't have Corsairs otherwise I would have bought a Corsair TX650 hands down it's got better efficiency, all Japanese caps and a longer 5 year warranty too. This ones good and mines still going but it's no TX650 in my opinion get the Corsair even if it's a few bucks more.
the 690 ii is the best case ive had, and ive had over 30 different cases so far and still using the 690 ii advanced with window side panel and easily fits the "radeon 5870" in tri crossfireX! looking foreward to get a new case to fit the EVGA sr-2
I have a quick question about this power supply, If you don't mind. It has a fan at the top, so is that fan in-taking air? As in it is sucking it in, and going out through the back? Or is it exhausting air into the computer case. Thanks
@PolishGuy89 Yeah the fan intakes and the pressure is just exhausted out the back. Depending on your case that fan could be top or bottom (facing up or down) in mine with the PSU in the top it's facing down of course but many cases now have bottom mount PSU and they sometimes can face either up or down depending on how you mount it.
Nice review I think im gonna buy this psu can you please tell me how long the main power cables are? I want to know if I can use the cable management on my Antec 902.
2x 9800GTX+ cards in SLi? Hrm. It "should" be okay but it only has 2x 6-pin PCi-e power jacks, enough for 1 card so you'll have to use adapters. I don't think you'll have much overhead. Also a 4400+ is a slight bottleneck for those 2 GPU's IMHO.
i have the 700w version. On idle it make 33db of noise. Not that loud, but noticable. I was looking to make a quiet computer, so wish i went slightly quieter. But this is great b/c it's modular.
Well from what I heard a single 12V Rail PSU is better but I don't know in which cases. Im looking into a budget build so im not getting something from the other world in computer wise.
I don't know that a tough choice! The CM might have longer cables? This on is pretty darn quite too but I don't know if its as "silent" as the CM. Single rail is often considered better too.
Well most experts will tell you a powerful single rail is best. Look at the Corsair TX600 with its single 50A rail. So is 2x 25A rails really better than 1x 50A rail?
I've used this PSU in a Three Hundred, Tt V9 and a Lancool K7 and its never been a problem. I've seen shorter cables but I've definitely seen longer ones too. This could be an issue on a larger case I suppose.
I'm gonna make my first build in a few weeks and just wanted to check the quality of the OCZ modXstream psus, since I've only really heard of corsair's
I'm getting the 700w model of this, just in case
thanks again for reviewing this product, you did it very professionally, subscribed! :D
Corsairs are also very good power supplies and they are almost always single rail witch is a bit better. Both are good but the Corsairs are usually a bit more money too.

Very nice explanation man. You should get sponsored and make more of these legit reviews. Your words are very selected and concise. I honestly doubt that the differences are that significant.. If the change in performance was that bad, then I'd say that people would stop putting modular psus in their gaming rigs.
Hey man, Can i ask a question. Im planning on build my system very soon and it's going to be... Core i7 920 EVGA X58 mobo DD3 1800Mhz Nvidia GTX 275 But would a 700W version of this satisfy my system or should i go get a more expendsive 850W Corsair ??? I plan to upgrade in the future to 2 GTX 275's Is 700W enough?? Thanks if you help. - Ryan x
Great video. Although you're absolutely right that peak wattage doesn't mean shit, I just want to correct you on one small thing. The PSU doesn't actually output 50A on the 12v rails. If you look underneath the section where it states the amperage, you'll see a box where it says 504W. 1A is equivalent to 12W so the total combined output really comes out to 42A.
Okay, now I need to correct myself since I was only half right. 1A is not equivalent to 12W. The formula goes like this: Current (Amperage) X Voltage = Watt (Power). So 1A x 1V would be 1W and 1A x 12V would be 12W.
Fan died, I changed it. Then it died. Kinda. It works sometimes. Other times it makes a weird noise (not the fan) and sometimes it wont POST the machine. It was a POS from day one!
True if OCZ has one main problem that can be it. Cables and lenght. We sell cheaper Cooler Masters at work and they don't have APFC or 80+ but they have more cables! One thing I like on the new CM boxes is they put a chart on there showing all the cables, jacks and the length of each even the length between jacks on the cable!
Oh sorry as for this one. The 4 pin CPU could be longer. I don't know exactly how long it is. Its long enough for me to reach but it would be nice if it was longer and I could route it cleaner.
Zee, Zed.... whatever! No its not single rail but its 25A on two rails. I mentioned this in the video and stated that its more than I needed. I understand that a single rail is usually better.
lol, it still takes me surprise when an non-American english-speaker calls the letter z "zed." I still don't know why we Americans ever started calling it "zee."
Because its apparantly "easier for them to say" o_O tbh i don't know what was wrong with most of the words etc that have been changed by the americans, i mean what was wrong with spelling it colour and terrorise? :D
But I'm just kidding. Every since you got angry at a comment asking if you smoke weed. Just thought it was kinda funny you got so offended over an innocent question...
Pretty cool that it will automatically change the voltage depending on the area. My last power supply had something called 'InActive POS" in it and well, that fu#ing thing wouldn't regulate shit :D Great vid man

I'd like to know which of the following power supplies is better:
-OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W
-COOLER MASTER Silent Pro 600 RS-600-AMBA-D3 600W
A notisable thing is that the OCZ has 2 12V Rails while the Cooler Master PSU has a Single Rail setup.
What do you all think?
JorgeHGPR 2 years ago
I don't know that a tough choice! The CM might have longer cables? This on is pretty darn quite too but I don't know if its as "silent" as the CM. Single rail is often considered better too.
MN12BIRD 2 years ago
obviously go with the OCZ PSU because it has more 12v rails.
killerclown789 2 years ago
Well most experts will tell you a powerful single rail is best. Look at the Corsair TX600 with its single 50A rail. So is 2x 25A rails really better than 1x 50A rail?
MN12BIRD 2 years ago
He was comparing it to the Cooler Master silent pro and I said that the OCZ is better.

Okay, now I need to correct myself since I was only half right. 1A is not equivalent to 12W. The formula goes like this: Current (Amperage) X Voltage = Watt (Power). So 1A x 1V would be 1W and 1A x 12V would be 12W.
decyx2 2 years ago
The 700 W can output a combined total of 46A (552/12) on the 12v rails while the 600 W can output 42A (504/12) on the 12v rails.

Hi,
i have two 9800GT i plan to SLI them with this PSU. But when i watch your video there was no 6 pins. Or is there some but you just didnt show?
scvs2 2 years ago
It comes with two, a 6 pin and an 6/8 pin PCI-e connector.
MN12BIRD 2 years ago
Phew, thanks~
scvs2 2 years ago
this is good psu, you have some problem with it? i want to buy it because it is very cheap 600W psu
neoonik16 2 years ago
so what happened to your 550? the fan died or something?
Romulus47plus1 2 years ago
Fan died, I changed it. Then it died. Kinda. It works sometimes. Other times it makes a weird noise (not the fan) and sometimes it wont POST the machine. It was a POS from day one!

OCZ or Corsair is the way to go.
Mineav 2 years ago
I love Corsairs but I got a good deal on this one at the time. Generally I would have gone Corsair for sure!

Excellent Review 5 Stars
Although I'm looking for the length of the cable as well :D
Some forum/people say the cable are not long enough for computer cases that accomodate PSU at the bottom :/
Nazzet 3 years ago
True if OCZ has one main problem that can be it. Cables and lenght. We sell cheaper Cooler Masters at work and they don't have APFC or 80+ but they have more cables! One thing I like on the new CM boxes is they put a chart on there showing all the cables, jacks and the length of each even the length between jacks on the cable!
MN12BIRD 3 years ago
Oh sorry as for this one. The 4 pin CPU could be longer. I don't know exactly how long it is. Its long enough for me to reach but it would be nice if it was longer and I could route it cleaner.
MN12BIRD 3 years ago
Nice video m8 can you tell me before I get one wether it is quiet or not as thats the main factor in me getting a new psu, thanks
airefc 3 years ago
Yeah its really quite. WAY quieter than the Cooler Master 550W it replaced!

Better man that I. I always buy the next to cheapest psu. But then again, I never build a top end pc that deserves that protection.
thebonefish 3 years ago
its oc-zeeee thats how you pronounce it
anyway whats the amps like on the rails who cares about wattage and pfc if the amperage on the rails in low, is it multi rail or single rail?
kieranfletch 3 years ago
Zee, Zed.... whatever! No its not single rail but its 25A on two rails. I mentioned this in the video and stated that its more than I needed. I understand that a single rail is usually better.
MN12BIRD 3 years ago
sorry man i just jumped in and commented without watching the full video
yeah dual rails can be good because it can supply your graphics card and cpu seperately
a lot of people about 2 years ago maybe 3 wanted to get multi rail psu now they all want single rail
kieranfletch 3 years ago
i love ocz stuff
i dunno why
i should really build a better pc
but im to young to have a job :(

lol, it still takes me surprise when an non-American english-speaker calls the letter z "zed." I still don't know why we Americans ever started calling it "zee."
agwellin 3 years ago
Your aunty started it!
curmos 3 years ago
Because its apparantly "easier for them to say" o_O tbh i don't know what was wrong with most of the words etc that have been changed by the americans, i mean what was wrong with spelling it colour and terrorise? :D

Do you bug your other subs (like TKE) with stupid posts like that? I doubt they would put up with your shit.

I don't give a flying fuck what that loser who plays with toys thinks.
KidDynamite85 3 years ago
But I'm just kidding. Every since you got angry at a comment asking if you smoke weed. Just thought it was kinda funny you got so offended over an innocent question...
KidDynamite85 3 years ago
you again!? we get it, you like weed, now leave us be.

Pretty cool that it will automatically change the voltage depending on the area. My last power supply had something called 'InActive POS" in it and well, that fu#ing thing wouldn't regulate shit :D Great vid man
