Can you do "Back in the USSR" It's really difficult to pick out what the bass plays on that since I think there is also a guitar playing bass lines on that as well. But most people on YouTube seem to have it wrong.

This has got to be one of the most minimal bass lines ever. Incredible, perfect! Any more notes would have diminished the effect. The bass part on the isn't very easy to hear, so I was never sure if I was hearing what I though was hearing. Thank you for presented it so clearly - it makes me appreciate it all the more. Get back, indeed!

you painted with white edge side of the fingerboard?

@patrii9100 Yes, I painted it. But it tends to peel off. I should have sanded the edge side of the fingerboard first. I hear HCT (or CT) had no binding till 2006 and "JAPAN LIMITED HCT-500/1J-SB" in 2011. But mine was made in 2008, it has binding.

@kocuhu hello, I have a problem with my nylon strings on my bass. I have the same with you, but they seem to be unable to stay in tune, they always go1/2 step down.. Can you pleaaasee reply to me and tell me if you have had that or something?? Thanks!!!

@rvgilder I don't have such a kind of problem. Do you talk about the Hofner? Everybody knows the Hofner bass tends to be out of tune. More than that? I think if you continue using them to stretch enough, they may be stable.

A1:I don't know exactly. Maybe yes. I think you have to at least cut nut grooves because of the thickness of the strings.

A2:I used an acrylic resin paint "Creative Color Spray" by Asahipen Corporation. But it tends to peel off. This paint doesn't suit this purpose or I should have sanded binding first.

Do the rotosound 88s fit in the nut of the hofner? I am thinking of getting some for my hofner ct.

The distance between tailpiece and bridge of Hofner bass is longer than other short scale basses.

Even if you cut silk off, rotosound 88s are slightly short.

But thanks to the zero fret, it might be worth trying.

@AmigoFiell Have to disagree. there's actually a lot going on in Paul's playing. Little ghost notes, hammer ons and hammer offs.  all kinds of nice littel embellishments that make it even cooler to play. BUT I do see your point. If a beginner wanted to play it he certainly could just by playing the 3 notes BUT to play it laike Paul , NO WAY.

@AmigoFiell **I hear ya. But Music doesn't have to be "complicated" to be good. Personaly I think the Bass part in this song serves it's purpose and it being a Number 1 backs me up on that. I've heard some seriously omplicated progressive Rock that sounded like SHITE. The degree of difficulity doesn't make a song good or bad and jsut because a beginner can play this isn't a knock on it's value either. But I get what you're saying. It's not Hard but I still like.

@jsteelman1000 Do you mention the chord progression? The Key is A. All chords are a major chord often with an added minor seventh. C7 appears in two sections, but previous chords are different.

Did McCartney use the regular strings that his höfner came with or did he use the ones you have because I've noticed in the rooftop concert pictures that his bass strings are black?

I heard it said that McCartney used black nylon strings in the rooftop concert.

But manufacturer of strings is unknown.

Anyway, Rotosound RS88M have same yellow cloths as his strings.

@animepwn3r man paul changes his hofner strings for the black ones because with black ones there in no finger sound, and you can play a bass with pelctro (it was easier for him to play with it because he was left handed and he was guitarrist) today these strings are manufactured by hofner and called "Beatle strings"
