  • they're not cloning cats. These are experiments of an ape gene that prevents AIDS in mammals... turns out the cats now glow. Know what u saying people. And I don't mind hurting a cat or two if AIDS can be cured after that. Nuff said

  • thats the fucking japs for u, deserved that quake !!!

  • @JordanEvans3794 These are Koreans, you idiot!

  • Instead of cloning cat

    CLONE DINOSAURS AND MAMMOTH @@@@

  • @tonicg You dumb fucker I've heard most stupid thing of your saying. This lab is for trying to make a cloned animal where scientists learn from the Dolly sheep. You are fucking stupid. PETA can't have this. I'm a member of PETA and just knew this lab is not doing something hurt to animals. YOU DUMB ASSFACE.

  • @StonedBC Shut the fuck up! Let's calm down. Those scientists want to know only if it works or not. You fucking retard.

  • Shut the fuck up guys about to complain for those cloned cats! I love those cats and just test on cats in the experiement why between cloned cats and real cats are differences. If a cat is glowing in the darkness, and that would be as cloned cat. STFU guys. Take my 2 cents and give a respect on them!

  • @missjucylucy You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about, it’s not the UV rays that make them glow, it’s the bioflourescent chemical the cats now produce in their cells, which, by the way, doesn’t hurt them

and the light that they expose them to is nothing more than a simple black light

The cats may not like being kept in cages for a couple of hours a day, but it’s not like they are being abused, this is a great scientific achievement

  • this is just fucking wrong! Stop messing with life. We're only making it worse for ourselves. But hey I guess we'll just die off even sooner and the world can go back to what its supposed to look like.

  • @S4R4H2 JESUS SEZ ITSA SIN

  • To all the whiners who say it's cruel to experiment, and so on, how about you stop taking medication because they're all experimented on animals as well. Yeah, you're wondering what the glow in the dark is. Well, it's actually an experiment with fucking with genetic codes. If they can do this, they might be able to cure diseases through this sort of process in the future.

  • This is so wrong! There playing with the cycle! They should just let things happen the way they do. God does the sculpting around here not them! Does that even make them real animals??

  • this is based entirely on ur faith in god.

  • @Hajikero101 Did your God sculpt my friend who disabled? Or another friend who had a child with down syndrome? If so, tell him he did a shit job.....

  • @h1ara2s Why are you telling me this? Your saying something that is completely off topic. If I disrespected u in some sort of way I apologize but Idk why your telling me. Sorry abt your friends. :/

  • Those poor babies. How can pople be so cruel to these poor animals? Cramming them all into a tiny space and not showing them any love.

  • u dont know that they didnt show them love ..u also dont know that this process caused any pain whatsoever. (which it DID NOT)

  • now that just creepy

  • Those cats are miserable! That's fucked up. All that money for research, and they stuff them all in a tiny cage?

  • this is sooo sad!! their treating the cats like there some kind of toy! and it just broke my heart when tht one cat started meowing like tht!! y cant they just leave things they way they r? i mean if they were supposed to glow then we would have seen glow in the dark cats a long time ago!

  • where humans, we like to mess stuff up

  • well my qeustion is why cats why not monkeys their more with us on a genetic level then a cat is

    ya know

  • Can I get this done to me?

  • you can get a tattoo thats does that.

  • This is cruel, stupid, and yeah anything will glow if you expose it to enough ultra violet rays...duh...fuckin' asswipes.

Why can't the cats at least run around alittle? play with some toys?

  • they have no idea how to handle or care for cats! look at the way he was holding it! and the cage was for a single dog for transportation, not for three cats for living space!

  • I see they have a litter box in the tiny cage with three cats which means they have NO ROOM - this is cruel and those cats' meows are unhappy sounding. Normal cats sound different to this. Why make them glow green in the first place? Do you want your kid to glow green? What a crazy World we live in! Save lives from Cancer or diseases, not wasting research time and money turning creatures green!

  • cats dont normally meow like that. I know my cat only meows like that if hes hurt or he doesnt want to be held.they had to be squeezing him or something. jeez...

  • god did not make us to mess with animals's DNA and make them and experiment on them in a cage

  • the same deity who annually kills 2 million children with malaria alone ?

  • If u get on the point of dis vid, u will comment juz like "Stoopid asians makes cats glows". But look on ur common sense, That cat glows bcoz..... Wat do we know if THEY only focus sum low lights on cat's face to make it glow. Get on ur senses.

  • I want one!

  • dats dik

  • Shouldn't mess with mother nature! Cats multiply without help from humans, why are they doing this? Are they going exstinct over there for some reason?????

  • y r u being so racist? it's not like they're hurting the cats. what, do YOU see the cats crying and hissing in agony? I think not! besides, this is so crazy (in a good way) of how the scientists discovered to clone cats that glow in the dark. GAWD!! u guys are so racist. and this is coming from a person who IS south korean and LOVES ANIMALS!!!

  • They are just making cats. Calm down.

  • Dirty sons of bitches are probably going to start cloning these cats so that they can use them for food.

  • ahhhhhh! kinda funny how you said it...but seriously wrong!

  • cruelty to animals if you ask me.

  • this is disgusting.

  • Imagine if the Asians use this on themselves... There'd be like a billion of 'em!!! ROFLMFAO!

  • why why why? they look like big strong cats, let them outta the damn cage so can run around and play! fools. go and get a job in Boots or something

  • and this cage is too small for them and no food or water or anything

    stupid pos asians !

  • FLAGGED

as ALL vids like this are, or will be -

    Awaken !

  • This is a great advancement. The fact that they have enhanced the genetics of cats just to be creative shows that genetic mastery will bring great advancements in many other ways. Eventually, humans will be cloned to perfect defective genes and thus cure disease and suffering. And to give eternal life to those who love life. And if one wants to have violet eyes, stronger bones, or even a healthy "glow" then more power to them.

Awaken to the future. It is beautiful.

  • Awaken !

  • Awaken !

  • chrisangelo2k7 asians consider cats sacred, they eat dogs fool.

  • well since asians eat cats, It's no wonder they clone them and make them glow... What shatters me even more is, those cats look awfully sad and terrorised :( ...

  • you are sick bastards. try to be the lab cat, asshole

  • Poor babies... :( :(

Why, no really, w.h.y. would you waist your time and money on this? So you can come home and say: honeey, they glow! You're right: they can't survive in nature, so they should live in their tinytiny cage for forever? Nice.. Bastards.

  • Poor cats! Now they can't be safe at night since every else animal sees them!

  • And they dont use batteries

  • VERY funny -_-

  • one thing we should never do is play GOD

    stop messing with mother nature

    wtf

  • we allways play god when it comes to cats and dogs, thus why we have so many different breeds

  • poor kitties! they dont look very happy at

    00:11 and 00:54

  • Kickass, Peter, buy me one now. NOW.

  • what they do is for medicational advance for us morons.... not for fun or to sell those cats.... you guys are blaming them just Bcus they used "pets" for test, but later on those tests that you guys were "crying" will save your fat ass.... Moreover, be a vegeterian before blaming animal test i dont wanna hear blaming animal test from ppl who actually eats animals and dont use any of medications... most of medications that you guys are using were made through animal tests...

  • 시바 병신같은 넘들아 저 실험을 장난으로 한건줄아니

아님 저런 고양이 만들어서 판매할려고 한다고 생각하냐

    에라이~~~ 니미시발넘들아

  • I don't understand anyone who has commented on this video against the cloning. It's not hurting anyone. These cats are not in pain, they're well fed and certainly glow in the dark cats on a college campus have tons of people coming by to play with them.

If I could undergo an experiment that just made me a little abnormal (weird skin/eye color/glow in the dark), and might save millions of other people, I'd gladly do it. It makes me sick that your comments imply that many of you would not.

  • Oh come on .... do you really have such a closed view. these cats sitting in boxes not in freedom, look again its the opposite, they are sitting in front of some hite dressed poeple witch are laughing about them. image how you would feel in these situation. and please dont tell me you would suffer for others. you aint able to understand what suffing means... in case of you would shut up... anstad im so sorry for you.

  • In your response to my earlier comment, you said that the cats are not novelty items. Well, what you just said about having glow in the dark cats on a college campus to have tons of people come by and play with them - that sounds like a novely item to me. So, you've just contradicted yourself. Dumbass. I hope you do undergo an experiment that prevents you from making naive comments on YouTube - that would save millions of people the inconvenience of reading your glib.

  • watch news!! before play dumb ass!

  • Learn to speak properly fool!

  • go to school and learn to think logically

  • I have gone to school and I do think logically, which is exactly why I commented on this video in the first place! They already have glow in the dark fish, so it's not a far stretch to figure out why these scientists are making glow in the dark cats.

  • Ok, i saw the other vid like it from CNN. They are trying to transfer outside gene into a "normal" genetic cat. Hoping to find solution for diseases that affect human and cats. But still, how many cats that they'll have to sacrifice in order to find the cure???

  • So, far, none. They aren't killing the cats, in fact, messing with their genes ensures that they don't have any genetic defects, it doesn't hurt them.

  • what's the point for making something glow in a living thing? I hope it's for finding some kind of organ disorder or disease. Otherwise, this scientific studies should not be funded any further.

  • Umm, what's the harm? It furthers science, isn't that good enough for you? The cats look fine to me, aside from the glowing, the gene doesn't seem to be hurting them at all. Also, it's not like they made the gene, it came from another animal. Sometimes, things are just cool, and if they don't hurt anyone, which this doesn't seem to, then what's wrong with it?

  • do you see those cats?? clearly they are 2 or 3 years old,

so they been doing this for some time

  • 40% of people over 60 has cancer and someone throws money doing this kind of stuff. I have no words.

  • You think research on genetic disease is throwing money away. I have no words.

  • I hope those cats scratch out the scientists eyes.

  • Ughh..

    Ew.

    D;

  • now the mice will see them coming

  • they both eat dogs and cats. believe me, I've seen it at both countries.

  • cool. maybe my future kids could glow in the dark

  • I don't care how many so-called *gains* are made using animals in experimentation... it NEVER EVER justifies animal cruelty.

"Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research." - George Bernard Shaw

  • How is this an atrocity, exactly? Is this hurting the cats at all? It doesn't seem to be. You need to learn that there is a difference between experiments and cruelty. They aren't beating the cats. In fact, the only thing they did to them out of the realm of normal cat raising was before they were even born.

  • The animals are locked up and at the mercy of experimentation. That's atrocity enuf for me. It's a slippery slope. Btw asshole, why do you appear to have such a vested interest in this?? You're comments are peppered all the way through this. That's a bit suspicious, I'd say.

  • This isn't progress, its not even science, it's proof of human cruelty!

  • human cruelty your face

  • What? Go drop in on an English class, and learn something useful.

  • Cruelty and experimentation aren't the same. Don't be stupid. If I knew that I could possibly save millions of life and all I had to do was be able to glow in UV light, I'd do it. And this is progress, whether you're smart enough to know that or not.

  • whats the point of this?

  • Thats so funny, i have some funny cat videos on my channel check them out.

  • I want a CAT!!!

  • Disgusting.

  • Why are the koreans making them glow when all they'll do is eat the cats?

  • wasn't it dogs?

  • koreans dont discriminate

  • This is kinda weird I don't see how glow in the dark cats can help us in any way. To me( forgive me if I'm wrong) but these cat's just seem to have been created that way out of sher curiosity not for anything necessary. Scientist need to quit wasting all that cash and use it to find a freakin cure for the more importaint diseases and cancers were dealing with instead using all of it on cloning projects. They can mess around with that later, once thousands people aren't dyeing before there time.

  • The only reason you don't see how it helps is because you don't know anything about genetics. They're looking for a cure for genetic diseases, is that "important" enough for you?

  • were can i bye won

  • You people don't understand the real meaning on what they're doing! One day those "Mutant Cats" are going to save your life! And how come nobody has commented on Dolly, the cloned sheep??? -_-'

  • dear pearl234567!

how come you are so sure about that fluorescence saves lifes? do you think fluorescence may cure cancer or any other desease?

all what these scientists did, was to inject a fluorescence factor into the cat genome by a cloning-vector, which sets a fluorescent protein after protein-synthesis free. this protein now is part of the cat's cells, whithout any effect on other cellulare activity. thats all and nothing more. why i know this? i'm studying it.

  • Ok, ok. I'm not trying to start a war... Never mind what other people's comments but I always use fluorescent lights... :D Good luck on the study

  • disgusting!

i hate these stupid scientist without any form of conscience! theres absolutly no nescesarity in creating fluorescent cats, nature doesn't need it, thats why they don't exist!

  • I agree. I would make an operation on the scientists and make tem glow thos stupid fuckers!!!

  • Nature doesn't have a cure for genetic disease either, but I guess that's why you're against this. You obviously think we don't need that either.

  • all u retards that think this is wrong, you wont think its wrong when they r curing ur cancers in a few years

  • Curing cancer by making cats glow? Wow you're fucking stupid.

  • go read a fucking science book u retard, or atleast the article relating to this story. these scientist r able to manipulate genes, since we only maped the human genome 5 years ago, they r still experimenting what genes do what. they found this one that makes a cat glow, sure its stupid, but its progress.

  • Not realizing the potential to cure cancer as well as other genetic diseases through breakthrough genetic research like this? Wow, you're fucking stupid.

  • omg that cats cant sleep at night all the time light in there eyes

    burn u fakin scientists

  • not cool

  • For you fools who think they are cloning these cats for this "glow-in-the-dark effect." "The ability to produce cloned cats with the manipulated genes is significant as it could be used for developing treatments for genetic diseases and for reproducing model (cloned) animals suffering from the same diseases as humans," it added. "It will also help develop stemcell treatments," he said, noting that cats have some 250 kinds of genetic diseases that affect humans, too.

  • Beautiful cats. Horrible scientists!

  • Johns top tip:

Feed fluorescent paint to your dog and cat, that way you can avoid walking in their shit at night :)

  • What's with you people comparing curing cancer with genetic modifications? You act as if if we all put are heads together real tight we'll suddenly think of a cure for cancer. Breakthroughs in genetic modification could lead to practical research like preventing cancer in future generations. What do you think a wheel did before we used it for transportation? Nothing. A single wheel didn't do anything practical by itself but it leads to other things.

  • these people are nazis.

  • Really? I think that the assholes who think that experiments that don't hurt the animals at all, and may save the lives of millions of people and animals in the future are Nazis.

  • clone Adriana Lima and sell me two of them already.

  • next timt the fuckig us ppl will clone the glowing fucking ppl ..

  • how pointless

  • How incredibly important. I would suggest studying real science so you can learn the real significance of this. Me, personally, I welcome to idea that one day my kids and their kids won't even know what cancer is, or color-blindness, or any of the other genetic diseases that techniques like this will eventually cure.

  • I want one

  • SO CRUEL!! :( i feel so srry for them

    the scientists should be ASHAMED!!

  • Of? Possibly leading the way to curing genetic diseases so future people and animals don't have to suffer unnecessarily? The cats are fine. Their mortality rate is the same for non-cloned cats and it's not like glowing under fluorescent lights hurt . . . .

  • I couldn't be more thrilled, I have been waiting for this very thing..who cares about cancer, heart disease, obesity, drug addiciton, spend my money on glowing cats that's what I say!! What a load of ****.

  • Um, if you want a cure to all that . . . watch this video to see how they're going to hopefully eventually cure those GENETIC diseases . . . (well, except for obesity, although there is a genetic link between the amount of food we eat and the way we process and store the foods.)

  • I agree with everything that dannyjpage has said to you, and would like to add that no amount of research can cure drug addiction. Drug Addiction is the result of stupid choices and lack of willpower, there's no cure for the mental weakness of human beings.

  • Anything WHITE in flourescent lighting will GLOW!! Doesn't anyone know that??

    Poor cats!!! Cruel and UNintentional!!!

  • like everyone else said why dnt dey try curing cancer instead of this?!?!?! this is why the world is falling today its because everyone is wasting der money in useless things such as this....This is going to faaar

  • They need to spend money on some spelling books for you, you dumb mother fucker

  • cool...

But the small cage, please someone do something about that!

  • well that was fucking pointless...

glowing cats will never be commercially available you fucking dumb cunts

try curing cancer instead of wasting our money on something that will never come to light

what is this shit ? some kind of experiment for cops to use on us next so we can't hide in the night?

    real great :(

  • *sigh* I really wish some of you would bother finishing middle school . . . . I would suggest you watch the video and LISTEN to what's being said. Far fetched, I know, but it explains is explicit detail that this is the first successful attempt at altering the genetic code of a cloned species with the eventual goal of CURING GENETIC DISEASES. Shame you can't fix stupid though.

  • this is cruel that cage is tiny what is the purpose of this try curing cancer not making cats glow SICKOS!!!!!

  • Ironically, they are curing cancer, among other genetic diseases. That was the point of this experiment, to see if they could alter genes for genetic research. They altered a skin gene, it doesn't effect the cat at all, except that it glows in UV light, it doesn't hurt it, it was actually an incredibly humane experiment. Much more humane than the one that was used to test make-up you're probably wearing.

  • Horrible! The goverment is wasting money! We could be finding a cure for cancer and you idiots are cloning cats!!! When they put cloned things on TV shows its a joke! You guys werent really supposed to do it! Sickos...I guess you got bored one day and woke up saying ''lets clone kittens''!!! Oh joy!!! Why dont we clone food for the poor! That puts it at better use if we have to do something with it!!!

  • You do realize the purpose of this experiment is to see if they could modify genetic code so that eventually they can create a retrovirus that will insert genetic code that inhibits the growth of cancer cells this eliminating cancer? As for food, we do clone food, it's called GM food and we produce enough food to feed the planet almost twice over, but because of politics and people fighting over religion almost half that food goes to waste. Stop fighting progress and start trying to help.

  • Interesting. Guess they can't hide under the cover of night.

  • Cry about it hippies! Glow in the dark cats are awesome. And I can't wait tuntil they are commercially avalible.

  • you don't know what the fuck you're saying.

  • I know I'm gonna have me a glow in the dark cat someday, and there isn't anything you whiny hippies can do to stop it.

  • Whatever wiseguy. don't come crying to us if those mutant cats gives you unhealthly side effects.

  • look at 43 seconds how many poor cats are shoved in one cage. I'm an animal rescue volunteer and this is vey sad!!

  • just 3 cats, one is stretching over the top of the cage, 2nd one is laying down, 3rd one is in the corner standing

  • i do feel bad for those cats but u have to admit that is kinda of funny lol

  • what the hell was the damn purpose of this? Stupid people

  • I hope PETA gets these bastards!!

  • Forget PETA, I hope ALF gets these bastards!!

  • but i think this is just sick,cloning cats..just...ugh..

  • lol, its soo funny since my name is Petar...

    PETA

    PETAR

    my god...lol

  • This is so f***ing wrong!! Poor cats! I hope these people rot in hell!!!

  • You're so f***ing wrong. I hope you die of a genetic disease.

  • "You're so f***ing wrong. I hope you die of a genetic disease."

    You're a fucking idiot.

  • @lonecretin Shut the fuck up and GTFO of our comment, faggot.

  • Clones? Wowo, we humans sure are a fucking evil race.

  • What is wrong with you? All you people who think cloning is wrong are the cruel ones, you're implying that clones are viable life, which isn't true. What's the difference between an animal born from a womb and grown in a test tube. Genetically? Nothing.

Cloning is just a really expensive way of breeding an identical twin. Just because evil scientists clone animals and people in movies, doesn't mean that cloning is wrong.

What exactly is wrong with cloning? Who does it hurt?

  • Nature has planned that each being on this planet is an individual (beings with just one cell aside).

Disturbing the natural way of life by artificially producing completely identical clones is against the laws of nature. The Earth has/had (before the humans came) a perfectly balanced ecological system, interrupting this in any way could cause irreparable damage.

    *500-character limit reached*

  • *continues from above*

Though I wanted to avoid religious remarks, I also highly doubt that we humans should act like God himself, creating life and forming nature to our pleasure.

I do see the possibilities in curing illnesses like cancer, but wouldn't it be enough to simply clone single cells instead of creating a whole organism?

  • Those poor cats...

That's not an experiment or a discovery, it's torture.

  • Are they in pain? No. They seem fine. How is it torture exactly? You realize that not every experiment is torture, right? Don't be stupid. Just because it isn't "normal" doesn't mean it's bad or wrong think before you say stuff next time.

  • Oh my god those poor animals! I think its a disgrace that these kinds of "experiments" are still legal. Why would you clone an animal when there are so many that need homes already. That torture not science in my opinion. Instead of this barbaric shit why don't these scientists work on finding a cure for cancer or aids?

  • Um, that's what this is. If you're so worried about homes, why are you wasting time on youtube posting comments that illustrate just how much you don't know? But since you didn't bother watching the video, the ultimate goal is pretty simple . . . cure genetic diseases. If they can insert code to add a RFP strain then inserting code to prevent cancer and aids is just the next step.

  • Um, if they're trying to cure "genetic diseases" like you say then whats the point of trying to make the cats glow in the dark? If the ultimate goal is so simple then go do it yourself instead of wasting your time posting ignorant comments that don't make and sense. By the way, I saw the videos of you trying to sing and let me give you a word of advice, don't quit your day job. You trying to sing is the equivalent of Woody Allen trying to play the lead in Shaft.

  • Actually that's really rude and ignorant of me, I take it back, sorry. But I still dont understand why they are making them glow in the dark if they're trying to cure diseases.

  • Imagine the organism composed of ON and OFF switches that are interconnected to each other. The only way of finding out the meaning of all the connections and all the switches is to test all of them. Not only that, but many genes that code for "pointless" traits like "fluorescence", could be connected to a very important trait. Imagine a car engine, even the smallest and meaningless parts are important to the whole.

  • haha they should make babies glow in the dark too lol theyll be their own night light

  • Don't those scientists have anything better to do besides cloning glow in the dark cats? I mean, WTF? These are living animals and they're making them into novelty items. Sick. Stupid scientists.

  • They aren't novelty items, they're genetic research, you idiot. These scientists have absolutely nothing better to do than try to cure genetic diseases, do you?

  • I don't deny that these scientists are doing genetic research with these cats. But, where you're wrong is that it's not for curing genetic diseases. The title and description of this video clearly indicates they are cloning these cats to produce the glow in the dark protein RFP. So, get your facts straight before trying to rebuke my comment. Dumbass.

  • do you ever watching news kid? wow..... they are not for sale dumb ass dont act like angel as long as your not vegetarian, your worse than them

  • LOL THATS AWESOME!

  • por qué no clonáis a vuestra puta madre y la hacéis que brille en la oscuridad? que hijos de puta. Y encima dicen que es algo cientifico. estamos volviéndonos locos o que? cabrones, imagino las barbaridades que harán a escondidas

  • OMG they all look the same; wow!

  • If they're clones they're going to have identical genes

  • yea nut I absolutely DISPISE cloning animals
