However, some past departures would have been nice to see as well. The older episodes may not have been as emotional, but think about when Susan, Jo, Sarah Jane, or Leela left.

Just as The Next Doctor acknowledged all past Doctors, it's always nice to see the entire series acknowledged - reminding us that this is a revival and it's all part of the same TV show. ...a show that has had 30 seasons, 203 stories, and 752 episodes.

I loved this line so so very much and was honestly just waiting for someone to use the obvious references to his very recent experiences with companions. It does work for all of them but obviously strikes the hearts of the last 3. I am impossibly in love with how RTD gave us a truly honest, no hiding behind smiles and "i'm always alright" ideas.This was the Doctor, alone, and explaining why, he is choosing to be that way.always alone and somehow he has not alternative even when he tries. 5/5!
