When Bourque lifts the cup, that's the best announcing I've ever heard from Mike Haynes. I love Sakic and Bourque and the rest of the Avs, but to be honest I have no idea how Mike Haynes ever managed to get paid to do what he does. Worst announcer in the NHL. Listen to Kevin Quinn for the Oilers or Joe Beninati for the Caps and for Versus. Then listen to Haynes. Those guys call every detail of the play by play - Haynes vocab consists of "shot," "save," or "score."
I watched a Avs-Wings game and this guy is the biggest homer I've ever heard. When Colorado scored it sounded like Jesus himself had come. When Detroit scored you could hear a sob in his voice XD
How could you not see the Avalanche were going to win the Cup in 1996? They added Patrick Roy to Joe Sakic and the players the Nordiques got in exchange with the Flyers for Eric Lindros...made them a super power. What sucks is the Avalanche stole Quebec City's team. Nordiques > Avalanche
imo he is one of the best all time, he does favor the avs, obviously, but he isnt completely douchey and one sided like say the Columbus blue jackets commentators.
peter mcnabb on the other hand, is a ridiculous homer.
McNab is a great color analyst. Honestly, he's an Altitude employee, so he isn't going to talk shit about Avs players. But he very knowledgeable and not afraid to say it how it is. I love that he doesn't take things too seriously.
