  • You can buy a ton of these cheep on ebay right now.

  • One word sums it up: Crap. I think Starbucks has further discredited their brand by pushing this instant coffee.

  • starbucks via is good stuff for camping..but this commercial sucks. They use words like "super" and "premium" and bright colors to make theirs seem better and black/red backgrounds for the other coffees with a violent hammer to make them seem worse subconsciously. I see right though you. Love starbucks though.

  • starbucks coffee is to expensive i only go to starbucks to drink a frappochino

  • so this is better than the instant Nescafe that i usually drink, right???

if so why dont they sell in bulk (a can, not per serving) and internationally...??

  • It doesn't cost more than a regular cup of coffee. Its way cheaper. 50 sticks for 35 bucks, that's about 1,42 $. I don't know where you live but in Montréal, a tall is about 2 bucks.. For people who don't have a Starbucks close to where they live/work, the Via sticks are a good option.

  • This video is stupid! How the hell are we supposed to believe that their process is any better than another companies process? And why don't we just brew regular coffee, it doesn't take a lot of time, and brewed coffee is dank shit!

  • Gosh I love Starbucks videos. They're so creative :)

  • it still doesnt taste as great as ur cup of freshly brewed coffee! i tried them both and notice a great difference

  • why dont u sell it in Australia?

  • How are the prices expensive? You get a 12 pack for 10-12 bucks.... a buck a cup...

  • I just tasted a sample and it's the best instant coffee i have ever tasted.

  • Love the animation.

  • VIDEO OF STARBUCKS DEFECTIVE VIA INSTANT COFFEE

View this video so you can be educated about a Starbucks Via Instant Coffee defective sample.

TO VIEW THE VIDEO GO TO YOUTUBE AND ENTER "starbucks via coffee defective" in the search field

  • Sounds great, but the prices are just insanely ridiculous! :(

  • So you grind the coffee so small it doesn't dissolve, but rather remains as a dust.

  • Dang! thats soO co0L!!! gotta have one!

  • I agree with Coffenate1 .. the instant coffee is definitely better than the generic store bought instant coffee.. however.. it doesn't compare to brewed starbucks coffee, even though it costs the same, or even more...

instead..buy a drip coffee machine.. and brew starbucks at home/work - that's what i would do!

  • So, the consensus is that if you just 'like' coffee, then you will 'like' VIA...but pay premium coffee prices for it. As it is $1 per 8 oz, so a tall would be $2..for instant coffee. If you are a lover of coffees, and have tasted fine coffee, then you will be disappointed with VIA.

The fact is that "Micro grinding" coffee beans creates a bitter, over-extracted flavor, there is no way around it. I'm not being a hater, just a realist.

  • And yes! You can use cold water! :-)

  • The VIA is better than I expected! I'm not really a coffee drinker, but the barista at my local Starbucks recommended that I try substituting the VIA for the espresso in my cinnamon dolce latte. It tasted BETTER (more flavorful) than the drink made with espresso. Oh yeah, and it has more caffeine! Perfect!

  • can you use cold water? for iced coffee?!

  • The VIA coffee is amazingly good.

Alas, this means that Starbucks visitations will ironically no longer be part of my diurnal cycle, other than for lattes.

  • Uh - one more thing. SO if they are microgrinding the soluble crystals, whatever. If they are actually adding superfine ground coffee that has NOT gone through a soluble process, then there is something people should know: drinking ground unfiltered coffee has bad implications for those with cholesterol issues. be aware of that...

  • This explains NOTHING about Via coffee. I went to a store and had no trouble telling the difference, but then I taste coffee all day long, every day. I knew based on smell only. But a woman next to me got it right away too. Anyway, the guy serving did not really KNOW what Via is either, and with videos like this, it's no wonder. He said it is not instant coffee, meaning soluble coffee, and it IS soluble coffee. But they are extracting less % of solubles so it tastes better than folgers.

  • I like coffee. I don't love it. I don't buy starbucks and I occasionally drink instant coffee. But anyways we're not here to argue about which is better. Still, I don't find this video any convincing that "this" instant coffee is better than any other "instant coffee". Basically they just made a nice vid and say they added some secret stuffs. Im just talking about the ad, not the coffee, cuz I haven't tried, so I'm not acting like I know.

  • Yes, you are.

  • GUESS MY COMMENT HIT HOME

  • Got the Pikes tall plus they gave me a 8 oz. cup of the instant Colombian. Two different coffees but I definitely liked the flavor of the instant better than the real stuff. Too bad I didn't get brewed Colombian to compare to the instant. Anyway, it was very good, unlike any instant I have ever had. The problem is that at $1.00 per 8 oz. cup. That is the same price per oz. as a 12 oz. tall at Starbucks prepared for you. Instant that you prepare yourself at home should be MUCH cheaper.

  • I was actually pretty impressed by VIA. I tried the Italian Roast. While I normally avoid Starbucks brewed coffee, I actually enjoyed this stuff. Certainly way better than regular instant coffee.

  • I am a coffee snob and never drink instant. My wife got a free sample at our local Starbucks and we tried it this evening. I will say that it is a perfectly acceptable cup of coffee. It is definitely not as good as a cup of fresh ground and brewed coffee, but I think it is a success as far as making an instant coffee an acceptable substitute.

  • I agree, it's pretty good for instant though not a substitute for brewed.

  • How can an American be a coffee snob. Hahaha.

  • The coffee is very good, it is patented for 12 years, so many people spout off on Sbux without any real knowledge of what's going on. Why are there so many haters? Most companies are always coming out with new products, why do we tear Sbux down so much??

  • I plan to try it tomorrow. I will hit at least 3 stores for free product. I am not a fan of starbucks but I like me some coffee and I like me something free. I also plan to enter all the sweepstakes...... I need a life.

  • LOVE V.I.A! its the best instant coffee i have ever had! I even think it tastes better than Pike Place roast!

  • actually its 100% chemically free...unlike all other instants

  • instant coffe is not necessarily a chemical process, so there is no reason to assume other brands result from some contact with chemicals. They just taste bad because they over extract the coffee during the process

  • @cupycake7 "chemically free" is not English. "chemical free" maybe. Even then its an absurd sentence, since caffeine is a chemical and all the other ingredients in any coffee. Water is a chemical. So your statement doesn't make any sense, sorry.

  • Instant coffee at Starbucks? I wonder if it has mountain grown crystals like Flogers? What a joke... ALL instant coffee is nasty, now you can pay more for it! yay!

  • Have you tried it ? it's actually pretty good, and I got mine for free (sample)

  • yeah because 80 cents a cup (at the 12 pack price) is just WAYY to expensive, and I can guarantee you you are making that assumption without having tasted it...jackass

  • Yeah, tasted it today...taste just as nasty as I thought. You cannot get quality coffee from a powder..it's impossible. 80 cents a cup is the price of Kona coffee when you brew it at home...I'll take the Kona over any instant.

  • Such passion you have for this instant drink that you feel the need to resort to name calling. I admire your love of the VIA!

  • you went into it with a negative attitude, and of course your opinion wouldnt change. that would be rediculous. and I admire your dedication to completely missing the point and thinking that me calling you a jackass has everything to do with me liking via, and nothing do do with you being...a jackass

  • I love coffee. There is no 'secret process' to make freeze dried coffee excellent. We all go into things with preconceived notions, some are right, some not. If this would have tasted as good as Starbucks proclaims, then I would gladly state that I was wrong...I've done it before....buy you don't know me so you wouldn't know that. You just like to call me a jackass, and that's cool. I also work in a prison and I really don't give to shakes about what anyone calls me. Have a good night!

  • "super secret process" sigh... it means we add chemicals in to our coffee to taste like a real brew...

  • I live in Melbourne, Fl, how do I get my free sample?

  • how bout try it first before you make your judgment!

  • I'm with you Hunhaar. If it was 'all natural' then why the secret..there such things as patents you know. Also, 'micro' grind coffee...fine ground coffee mixed in water and not filtered = bitter flavor.
