  • Really nice Ken!

  • Thanks HH.

  • Excellent job Ken, I loved the sound of the ukulele in this one; it really added to the feel of the song.

  • Thank you.

  • Great cover, Ken! I also know the Elvis version best. I could imagine the background choir singing along with you and a lap steel guitar in between... I enjoyed the fills especially.

  • Thanks very much.

  • Excellent performance, a pleasure to listen!

May I ask which uke you are playing? :)

    Regards, Wilfried

  • It's my Kanile'a K1 Tenor.

  • Really sweet voice, and bright sound of the ukulele.

    Nice done Mr, Ken !!

  • Thanks very much.

  • Well there you go... I always thought this was written by Willie Nelson. You learn something new everyday. I like this soft and contemplative version, Ken.

  • Thanks Tony.

  • I'm most familiar with the Willie Nelson version...I like your's better (sorry, Willie).

  • Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

  • Such a fantastic cover. 5.5

  • This made my day. Thanks.

  • I am pleased about that. Thanks.

  • Yeah, I've heard those other guys, but I like the Ken Middleton version best.

  • I think Elvis had a bit more stage presence than me though. Thanks Don.

  • Fantastic!!!! 5 stars and fav

    Ken G

  • Thank you, Ken.

  • Thanks K.

  • Williw Nelson's version used to be my favorite. But this tops it!

  • Wow! Thanks John.

  • really nice ken!

i saw willie nelson 2 weeks ago and he did this song.

    well done!

  • I hope I am still playing and singing at 76.

  • I have never heard anyone do this other than Willie Nelson. I thought he wrote it , anyway great song and I really like the way you did it.

  • I thought he wrote it too. Luckily I checked.

  • great, as always!!!

  • Thanks Fran.

  • Lovely video, Ken.

    I've cherished this song

from the first time I heard Willie singing it

on a scratchy, fading AM station.

    Filled with delicious KenMiddleton crunchiness.

    *****

  • Yes, I caught him singing it on a YT video recently. That prompted me to record it.

  • Nice

    5*

    All the best

    Kean

  • Thanks very much, Kean.

  • Really like this version!!

  • Thank you.

  • It is a great song. Elvis sang it gently, Willy seemed thoughtful, and almost honestly, if there is such a way to sing a song. The Pet Shop Boys version was on the CD player when I drove our truck through a rain storm in Denver. And now Ken Middleton has done it, powerfully.

  • Thanks for the detailed comment, Lynda.

  • Absolutely fabulous! Heartfelt and vulnerable, like the original. Great stuff!

  • Thank you.

  • Stunning! I like Willie's the best, too. But now with you doing it so beautifully on the ukulele Willie's got some real competition. Thank you for that one.

  • I don't know about competition. But thanks anyway.

  • Absolutely beautiful Ken! Good to hear your lovely voice is back! Excellent playing, but goes without saying really, when isn't it? :-) And I might as well just have all your videos in my favourites, half-way there already! :-) X

  • Thank you, Ruth. And yes, my voice has fully returned.

  • Beautiful choice of song. Lovely work

  • Thank you, Shane.

  • Beautiful Ken. and much much better than the Pet Shop Boys' version.

  • and I think a Kanilea is next on my list.

  • Can't wait to see and hear it, Deach.

  • I love this song and your version of it - right up there with ol' Willie!

  • Thanks R. How about a Stockholm festival next year?

  • That'd be sweet! Plus there's a good chance my wife would let me go...

  • We'll have to talk about it.

  • lol Robin, whipped! :-p X

  • You old heartbreaker you :-)

  • Absolutely.
