Tony Martin is still living. Can you believe it? Yes, he was born in 1913 and is currently 96 years of age. I love his duet of the Jerome Kern song, "Why do I love You" with Frances Langford back in the '40's. He and Cyd Charisse were married for 60 years until her death in 2008.
my how the times have changed, I can recall when this record was considered to subjective for radio. well listen to whats on now. this was one of my alltime favorites
Tony Martin is one of the best singing stars in know. This is a one of his finest songs! I found his GREAT - I saw Angels in the sky - also on YouTube! I love YouTube.
What a great voice......he is probably the best in the business..........he lost his wonderful wife Cyd Charyse last year and that must have been the saddest day in his life...she was a great dancer!!!!!
I just returned from seeing Tony sing in NYC. Astounding, Christmas was his 96th Birthday. his complete set list: Let's Face the Music and Dance To Each His Own You Stepped out of a Dream There's No Tomorrow The Very Thought of You People Will Say We're in Love La Vie en Rose The Music Never Ends I Don't Know Why I Surrender Dear Unforgettable Begin the Beguine I'll See You in my Dreams Moon River
@jayseah1932 Yes, he did. The hit record in 51-52 of this song was made by Georgia Gibbs, but Martin's recording was much better. He was at the top of his form in that recording. and of course he also did a kind of bel canto in songs like Over a Bottle of Wine and I get Ideas.l --Lloyd Kropp.
He did record "Kiss of Fire" I belive he had the second most popular recording of this song with Georgia Gibbs version being the most popular, but I'm not 100% sure.
I was there too! Great show. He is one of the best of all time. Trying to see if he is returning to Feinstein's this year. Haven't heard anything about him since Cyd's passing.

This is a famous argentinian tango, titled (Adios Muchachos)
the lirics in spanish are very sad, it's about a person that has
a limited time to live, and is giving his farewell to all his friends;
personally, i like the meaning of the lirics in english better,
tony martin is a great singer,

Tony Martin has one of the great voices ever. And there are actually people who claim to be sane that would call old one glove a legend.

So smooooooth! This melody was featured in the Jean Arthur/Charles Boyer film HISTORY IS MADE AT NIGHT (1937)
and it was magical.
Used to hear Tony's rendition on our Easy listening station in SF in the 60's, Nice to hear again. Beautiful music like this never dates!
Thanks!
