  • Sorry, the building depicted was torn down many years ago. There's the facade of the castle like structure remaining, but that is a different building completely. There was a much larger complex there before.

    To learn more about Blackwell's Island/Charity Island/Roosevelt Island, the New York Public Library has many photos available in the digital collection & the Lib of Congress has an early Edison film showing the length of the island, shot from a boat.
