The reporter misses the point. The "Humanitarian" ship had no supplies of relief. Israel allows trucks to deliver supplies and the reason this do is so that the supply trucks can be inspected so that everything on those trucks will not be terrorists related. No such inspection existed on the "Humanitarian" ship. When Israeli commando's tried to enforce those inspections of the ship, they were killed as they bordered the ship. Well the boat raids, from what I've heard, were illegal because it was in international waters (however, I'm happy to leave that argument aside).
My point is, which I was trying to illustrate, that if they hadn't raided the boat in the first place (which was apparently illegal), then they wouldn't have been 'attacked' with poles, and wouldn't have had to 'defend' themselves with guns (assuming that is what happened).
Again, your missing the whole point of my analogy. The ships were aid ships, going to gaza that has been blockaded for 3years. The problem is, virtually any time a blockade is set up anywhere, it's the civilians that suffer (look at N.Korea and the US).
Regardless, the ship was still in Int. waters. That means the Israeli's had no right to board (it's important this distinction). This is where the problem arises. Deaths wouldn't have happened is they didn't board.
2: Should have had better intel to realise it was aid ships
3: The people on the ship shouldn't have retaliated

The reporter misses the point. The "Humanitarian" ship had no supplies of relief. Israel allows trucks to deliver supplies and the reason this do is so that the supply trucks can be inspected so that everything on those trucks will not be terrorists related. No such inspection existed on the "Humanitarian" ship. When Israeli commando's tried to enforce those inspections of the ship, they were killed as they bordered the ship. What did they have to hide on that ship?

Finally, and most importantly, whether or not the blockade is good or bad, legal or not, that doesn't excuse the actions of a group of Israeli soldiers from landing on an aid ship and then using lethal force against no lethal attackers (or defenders).
1: The Israeli intelligence should be examined
2: The actions of the soldiers (why did they use lethal force)?
3: Could they have used non lethal (IE, tasers, or the 'paintball' guns).
I would ask no different from my own country.

My point is, which I was trying to illustrate, that if they hadn't raided the boat in the first place (which was apparently illegal), then they wouldn't have been 'attacked' with poles, and wouldn't have had to 'defend' themselves with guns (assuming that is what happened).
This is why everyones up in arms about it.

Regardless, the ship was still in Int. waters. That means the Israeli's had no right to board (it's important this distinction). This is where the problem arises. Deaths wouldn't have happened is they didn't board.

To avoid deaths:
1: Israel shouldn't have boarded.
2: Should have had better intel to realise it was aid ships
3: The people on the ship shouldn't have retaliated
4: The solderiers should have used non lethal force (the paintball rounds? tazers, bean bag rounds).
So whilst yes, the people on the ship 'contributed', their actions were reactive to being 'invaded' in the first place. Even if you say they shouldn't reacted, that's still 3 things (all proactive) Israel could have done.

1. israel had no choice, as the flotilla people clearly stated their aim was to break the blockade.
2. the insistence was to have the cargo checked by israel, which would pass the aid to gaza once inspected.
4. the soldiers used paintball rounds to start with, and only used live ammo when soldiers were kidnapped and their life was at stake.
what would have happened if the soldiers didnt have live ammo?

Because of the road blockade that is preventing aid going into gaza. That's why they went by boat. Israel is also stopping much of the shipping in and from gaza (including fishing). It's effectivly trying to starve them out.
Much like the US did to Korea (during which time many civilians died from famine).
