  • Lol I have to revise Hobbes and Mill for an exam tomorrow, I can't be bothered!!

  • You clearly don't know what ANARCHY means.

  • That would make one good Dairy Milk advert.

  • Hobbes is a JOKE! The ruling elite love him because his philosophy seems to lend legitimacy to those who claim to "protect" others WITHOUT a contract.

I NEVER SIGNED ANY SOCIAL CONTRACT. Hobbes knew this, the jerk.

  • One may find it interesting the work of: John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Thomas Jefferson, etc, is incomplete when using the language of science to prove our unalienable Rights are part of the Laws of Nature. These unalienable Rights apply to all Life, from bacteria to humans, and Social systems, including Charles Darwin’s research. These Rights are a Grand Unification principle for all Living-systems (see my channel video).

  • whats that song?

  • @BipolarPuffin O Fortuna from the opera Carmina Burana

  • like it cool video!!!

  • How can the world be 'reduced' to anything in a state of nature, as this state exists prior to others? Furthermore, how can it be 'reduced' to anarchy, which simply means the absence of government? Anarchy does not mean chaos, at least in any accurate articulation of the word.

  • @s2586201

"reduced" - You say it yourself that it is the State of Nature is the earliest state of man, therefore it is less advanced then the society Hobbes proposes and so If we were to step back to the original state of nature we would be going backwards and our society would be reduced to a more primitive way of existing. The second part of your question can be answered the same way. Due to the lack of government in society life would be nasty, brutish and short.

  • there is no social contract in afghanistan because they can't read or write

  • @tubebellator Who cannot read or write? Afghans? Where'd you get that assumption?

  • I never signed an actual contract like these guys did. I was just born here.

  • If the people of the world are really that evil, then what good is putting those people into power going to accomplish?

  • Interesting that the violence you showed in Somalia that you referred to as "anarchy" all depicted government sponsored violence?

Ben Powell & Stefan Molynuex have done some work showing a very different picture of Somalia ... well worth looking into.

  • opinion...

  • It was very propagandish to show people actually signing the social contract. Instead the person in charge should have been shown signing all of their names and then taking money from them.

  • The Camina Burana (Fortuna)

  • what song IS this?

  • BE A NATURAL PERSON

  • great Scottish accent!

  • I am writing an essay on Hobbes and Rousseau, critically comparing the two's ideas on obligation in the social contract - this video has been a help, cheers.

  • Question. What is the name of this song?

  • @CoolDude8675309 O Fortuna from the opera Carmina Burana

  • Port Talbot on a Saturday night has a lot of people who are "nasty brutish and short" Thursday, Friday and Saturday night is a constant "State of Nature"

  • cool video of this great concept

just wonder if these two should differ each other:

    human-government contract (vs)

    human-human contract?

  • Great vid, great song. Should help come midterms.

  • I think calton hill is pretty... It was a good place to shoot for stereodykes as it is pretty central to the gay scene.. hobbes social contract because I thought it would look good, and knew for sure there was a bit on the hill that would be usable. Maybe it is favouritism, I've filmed up there lots.. but I love it!

  • Where's the rest of it........ Lovin the paggers. No offence or anything but is there anywhere else in edinburgh to film, other than calton hill?? Just watched your Stereodykes film as well, which was all nice and goody good good. But come on Edinburgh's got seven hills, lets not show favouritism here lol (whispered - it looks a tad bit lazy), keep up the good work though :)

  • nice
