GaiKing's most powerful ability is Face Open, which increases its power output dramatically. When combined into GaiKing The Great, Face Open has two stages, with the second, more powerful stage being Face Open The Great.
Here, Daiya uses Face Open The Great to parry King Darius' finishing move and break through his defenses. But the force of the impact is so great that it destroys the option parts from RaiKing and VulKing. So he has no choice but to Closed Face, canceling the powerup, but he is still able to recombine into regular GaiKing and finish off King Darius with Hydro Blazer at point-blank range.
It looked to me like he separated to break the grip he was in and then opened fire point blank like you said. But, I could be wrong. Either way it was pretty cool. ^^
Big O's arm piston attack (actually, the arm pistons themselves as well) is called Sudden Impact. The beam that fires from its forehead is called Chrome Buster - which I believe he fires a bit before this clip.
Realy i, could have sworn that it was chrome buster i'll cheek my sources just to verifi, cause i've heard the pistons themself called sudden impact oddly, but the overall manuver known as cromioum buster. i'll cheek in on that.
You can see it in episode three against the 'thunder god' he says "I cant fire my chromium buster with him there" and in the console it was a different button than his sudden impact

But, that was Sudden impact.
Chrome Buster is the forehead beam-thing.
...Big Thunder and Final Stage are aslo his finishers.
