  • perfect bass line.....

  • The Blues always sound good to me reminds me of my Mother.

  • This is "the" version - even more so than T-Bone Walker's original. The Allman Brothers mistakenly credited the song to Bobby Bland on their Filmore East album.

I was in the car and "Merry Christmas Baby" by Charles Brown came on. I told my wife that sounds like Wayne Bennett on guitar because I was familiar with his work with Bobby Bland.

If Wayne's daughter sees this - was I right ?

  • THIS IS THE FIRST VERSION I EVER HEARD AND I STILL THINK ITS THE BEST

    FANTASTIC BIGJAMESRAY

  • This one defines classy, classic blues! Yeah, Honey, your Daddy could play that ax!. Used to listen to this one and others on WLAC (ohMan, yeah, Randy's Record Room !) with ole Hoss Allen late at night, studying for test at USM in early sixties.

  • one of my very favorites! thank God for your Daddy! Mr. Bennet!

  • Just like yesterday, loving this song yet!

  • That's MY DAD plsying those classic licks!!!

  • My absolute favorite version of Stormy Monday! What a voice and love the guitar licks.

  • THE FIRST RECORD I EVER HEARD BY B4"MAGIC" BIGJAMESRAY

  • There are a lot of great versions of this song, but this is THE classic version, if you ask me. Bobby Bland's voice and Wayne Bennett's guitar are so classic, so beautiful and expressive. Simply the best.

  • can someone please help me find kiss me to the music by bobby bland

  • True Classic!!!!!

  • Super version! Thanks for the posting! LUVVVVV IT. Woweeee.

  • BEST STORMY MONDAY EVER. #1

  • Amazing! There is no one, NO ONE like Bobby "Blue" Bland!!

  • you should try the Allman Brothers Band's version. It is amazing!

  • I love Bobby!! thanks for real music!

  • I came home from school one day and my mother was listening to this song and drinking beer. She had lost her job and she was crying. My first time hearing this song and it fit the mood that day. It was 1963 and we were in the shit then. I still love this song. It got us through one stormy Monday. And a lot of days that followed.

  • NOBODY sings stormy monday like bobby...ive listened to his version at least 1000 times

  • @adevalldaylong: Wayne Bennett plays the definitive version of this song and makes it his own. It is so soulful, beautiful and inspiring. He's one of the greats! And Bobby's singing is great right along with it.

  • Church take you home!

  • some beautiful guitar work buy Wayne Bennett

  • Man, this is an All Time Classic. I had the pleasure of first hearin' B-O-B-B-Y in '69

out at The Hillside Town Club in Wichita, Ks. Man, it was great. Wayne Bennett sure

    steps this tune up too.

  • will walk miles for this

  • @JulieOmama it is so rare and magic !!!!!!!!!

  • just the amount of raw soul he pours into each word is almost too much to bear.

  • It's monday......it's how I feel.

  • It's the best Stormy Monday that you will ever hear. It cannot be done any better! Amazing track all around, even the recording and mix are timeless.

  • blues in raw form..best 1960's blues ..I used to hear this song from this great musician on the old Rock-O-Ola kukeboxes as a kid..pickuped some of the guitar licks and still play them today...

  • T- BONE WALKER WAS ONE OF THE FATHERS OF THE ROCK GENERATION AND HIS UNIQUE POSITIONING OF HIS ELECTRIC GUITAR WAS PIONEERING ALONG WITH LES PAUL. AS FOR BBB WHAT CAN ONE SAY ANN ALL TIME GREAT BLUES SINGER

  • Many have sung this classic blues but few sing it like this. Am I right?

  • Without a doubt, my absolute favorite vocal version of the highly over done as wellas highly butchered T-Bone Walker classic. Wayne Bennett's guitar is sweet.

  • This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest examples of blues guitar accompaniment and a lesson to all budding blues musicians. It's not about volume or showboating; simply total empathy with the singer. A classic recording which has given me great pleasure for almost fifty years.

  • Fantastic guitar playing and such a clear recording, especially if it's from '62. Thanks for posting.

  • bobby bland and wayne bennet-don't get any better than that! this's been my favorite blues song for 35 years!

  • man when i was in japan didnt have any friends or family i was sure missing chicago but had this song on cd an had it in my rotation which played everyday. help me out the first few weeks..this is def brown liquor music.

  • wayne bennett is amazing!!!!

  • I really love the version of this song by Lou Rawls and Les McCann - blues/jazz - you know. Both versions take me to different nostalgic levels. However, this version was the first I heard when I was 13 going on 14 - listened to it, constantly, for almost 7 years before I heard Lou-Lou's version. So, of course, BBB's version is REALLY special. Thanks for posting.

  • This is without a doubt my all time favorite version of this song! I love the intro, the sparse arrangement that alloes you to really hear what ever instrument is playing but I especially enjoy Bobby's "smokey" yet velvet vocal delivery and of course Wayne Bennitt's fabulous guitar playing. The quinessential version!!!

  • Bobby Blue Bland is one of the best when it comes to the 1960s Blues scene

  • the best!

  • LAWD HAVE MERCY!

  • I heard Bobby sing this at the very first concert (non-religious) that I was ever allowed to go to. 1963 February

  • excellent version Bobby is King, but I still like T-Bone Walker original version better(allman bros band version not too shabby)

  • This is the track featuring my late Father!! Play it Daddy! Wayne T. Bennett rest in peace...we miss you!!!

  • I love this. It's the very best stormy monday I found here so far.

  • The reason that this is the best that you have found is becuase this is the original.. I heard him sing this live and he is the best at it... Jonny Taylor tried to sing this one as well and he just doesn't compare.. He is the best at this song because he sang it first.. This song never gets old

  • @Delicate20 T Bone walker did it first, but this is my favorite version

  • @Delicate20 T Bone walker did it firstn1947 than in 1955 He is also the writer of this song, but this is my favorite version

  • @Delicate20 T Bone walker did it first in 1947 than in 1955 He is also the writer of this song, but this is my favorite version 1962

  • @Delicate20 T Bone walker did it first in 1947 than in 1955 He is also the writer of this song, but this is my favorite version 1962.

  • @simonpuremusic that's because this IS the best stormy monday! :) Much love!

  • There's an article in Rolling Stone last week where Billy Gibbons says that the solo during this song is his all time favorite guitar solo.

  • I agree.. This was the soul of a people. I hope in this season where we have a black president in office that we remember the cries of music like this that helped us to cope from what we called the Blues.

  • It's a shame there isn't more views for this. We'll never get it this good again. Thanks for posting and hopefully more people will discover Bobby"Blue"Bland and this wonderful song.
