That was embarrassing for Douglas! A Caesar Gracie student and he struggled to control Malaipet who didn't really have a clue what he was doing on the ground. He got kicked to pieces on the feet and was made to look really silly.
To make a fight look exciting ji jutsu,judo or any kind of groud fight should be banned in MMA else all we get to watch is 2 guys on the ground all the time...
These pure strikers should do more prep work before entering these competitions. That being said hats off to Maliaipet for being so brave and for being respectful when his opponent was on the ground...even though he did not have to. Tarzan had the reach advantage when the fight was standing up and the grappling skills when the fight went down. All said Malaipet still did a phenominal job.

For me Malaipet won this fight!! The way I see it is that basically Malaipet fought under Douglas Rules because it seems that they didn't allow knees to the face when they were in the ground... If the fight was a full rules muay thai fight then, douglas would be dead now...

These pure strikers should do more prep work before entering these competitions. That being said hats off to Maliaipet for being so brave and for being respectful when his opponent was on the ground...even though he did not have to. Tarzan had the reach advantage when the fight was standing up and the grappling skills when the fight went down. All said Malaipet still did a phenominal job.

For Thai fighters, we were taught that don't fight when adversaries be on the ground to respect them. So we are not used to the ground fight.

Muay Thai is too gentle? You're a fucking idiot. You've obviously never had any sort of fighting experience, and/or never been in an actual match. You don't know what the fighters are thinking during the fight, a lot of things go through your mind. Malaipet knows that if he would have gotten on top of him and ground/pound he may have got caught by one of Tarzans submissions (arm bar, etc). Malaipet doesnt have much experience in MMA.
