Very good interpretation, I think, MAYBE, there's too much echo in the sound, like an oversustain effect. It's a good arrangement, though. What a pity that chord at 3:44.
@Smileater thanks! Yeah, I was gutted but decided to keep leave it there. I'm going to post another version in the next week or 2 and hopefully there won't be that tragic minor/major 3rd clash this time!
I can't believe you played this with a pick! Truly masterful! Not sure I'm wild about the steel string sound, but the musicianship is amazing--lightyears beyond anything I could ever hoped to do. Kudos!
I wonder why acoustic steel-string guitar is not more often used on music composed for classical guitar... I love this sound ! I prefer it to nylon-string guitar sound !
Dude! You're awesome!!! I love the hybrid picking. But, man, you gotta go FULL MONTY!!! Come on.... your playing will achieve new levels when you're completely in the buff.
Seriously though, you're an excellent guitar player. Keep going! Love it!!!
you pick like I do, flat pick 2 fingers and no pinky. It gives me hope considering how well you play. I figured I'd have to master using all of my fingers to do any good.
I'm learning this at the minute, but from the violin partita and on electric guitar. It's a bloody difficult piece, but I find it helps improve your technique hugely.
Can't stop smiling ... that just kicks so hard! So fluid ... and I especially appreciate how the steel strings lend a harpsichord-like tone. OK, must post this now so I can hit "replay" ...
i'm impressed. didn't think it could be done with such class on a steel string. and don't ever go as low as to tab anything for "that guy" make em read music its important to know how to do
FYI, there's nothing wrong with tablature. BWV1006 is from a Bach lute suite. Traditionally lute music is transcribed in tablature form. It's been that way since the 14th century.
Bach never wrote music for the lute utilizing tablature. All of the surviving manuscripts in his hand are written in standard notation on a double staves.
I didn't say that Bach wrote in tablature. I said that there is a tradition of transcribing lute music in tab form that dates back to the 14th century.
is there any chance of possibly getting a tab from you ? if there is one; not sure if you learned it from ear and didn't transcribe it. sorry to be "that guy" haha.
I clicked on this video expecting to be horrified. But then I realized who was playing. I have enjoyed your other Bach videos immensely (esp. bwv996 prelude). I was pleasantly surprised with how listenable this is on a steel string...
Where else can you see Bach being perfomed by a man with no trousers?
Seriously though, I like the sound of the steel string much more than I thought I would. It adds an brightness and openness to the sound that you get with a lute but which is absent on a regular classical guitar.

Not the most fantastic performance I've heard of the piece. You block a lot of the notes, and it sounds unnatural. Nevertheless, your technique is superb, so the bottom line is: I suggest you try working on the sound you produce rather than the speed. Good luck.
Sorry. I don't see your point. I don't think that playing Bach on stell strings and not even on a clasical guitar could be easy. Try next time to listen to the music rather than pointing out the inperfections. I consider the technique and the sound to be more than good.
I never said it was easy, or even bad. I just said that I've heard better, and pointed out where I think he should work more. And uh, "Try to listen to the music rather than pointing out the imperfections" - what? You mean like, criticism? Yeah that's right: " Shut up you idiot, what is it with all that 'expressing your own opinion'- there should be a law against that. Some people, meh, I just can't believe it. "
this song has haunted me forever after learning, giving up and relearning then giving up again. i like the flat pick approach though i wouldnt try it myself. either way an awesome performance of an awesome song and composer. keep it coming
Very nice I enjoyed that a lot.Well done.

Even though it's got the bright sound of the harpsichord, it still sound less impressive than on a classical Guitar.
