Calypso is the dance that goes with the Calypso music. It is African influenced, as the slaves created Calypso inspired by political and oppressive protests.
There are a few good videos here on youtube, check out the "Mighty Sparrow"

Look up "Calypso Dance" on ehow.com there's a little info.
We've had endless requests over the years for live percussion recordings of the traditional folkloric drumming from Trinidad. There's been a strange problem with the inside of the recording equipment rattling from the vibrations. We're working on a clear recording and I'll post when we have it. Thank you for the encouragement!
this is soo cool, I took a dance class last semester for my pe credits and the last 7 or 8 classes, they invited teachers of different art forms to teach us, I remember doing this and just being soo happy :)
We are using a basic Calypso rhythm from Trinidad. I've heard African and Brazilian rhythms that can sound similar. It's hard to find recordings of the traditional Trinidadian rhythms. Sorry, I don't have a recommendation.
Yes, thanks for your interest. We are in the USA, California actually. I'll try to put more up on our channel, Caribbeandrumdance. Technologically challenged, may take some time.
P.S.
But how come the students are all fat?
