  • Fair tribute band.

  • Wonder where Chuck is now??

  • I just think it's funny that Danny and Cory are doing this song..they laughed at it when Hoyt Axton pitched it to them and Chuck jumped on it! NOW they are singing it with out Chuck. Granted, Chuck is a piece of work but it' still kinda lame.

  • You people are NUTS!!! There is a reason Danny doesn't sing the second line of this song - it is because he CAN'T!! It comes off as a 'let the fans sing along' but they are just covering for his inability to sing that line. I love TDN, but man, I call it like I see it. The FACT is, Chuck CAN still sing this song - spot on. This is an embarrassing moment for TDN and they sound like crap on this particular song. If you can't hear it - then you need a hearing aid.

  • @bodaciousd They just had an off night here ...I just saw them Sept 2011 -sitting front row and they were GREAT !!!!

Chuck & his recent band can't compare , they sound like some karaoke bar singing .

  • Wasn't that announcer dude on American Idol?

  • there still great i recently saw them at the NYS fair, Chuck has an ego problem. these guys are doing so much better with out him

  • @TheSgtpeppers13 Really? Doing better without him? Do you know Chuck personally? It wasn't an ego problem as much as a drug addiction. He's clean and sober these days and admits to not being the greatest guy when he was heavily into his addiction. He is and still is the main ingredient to TDN. They are all amazing guys. Chuck included.

  • Seems to me they all need each other, because They all need to harmonize with each other to pull off those songs. They were perfect for those songs together! Just like Lennon and McCartney needed each other. Apart, it just wasn't the same. There just wasn't the same magic.

As for this video, I think they must have been having an off night. Sounds like they had already overdone it and sang themselves hoarse in recent nights past.

  • I saw TDN this past summer (July 2011), and they were fantastic! Did'nt miss Chuck, they did just fine without him. Saw them back in 1970, and when I saw them recently I was just AMAZED! GREAT PERFORMANCE! Don't cut down Cory and Danny just because Chuck blew it!

  • SOUNDS LIKE THE FROG HAS GOTTEN INTO THEIR VOICES SOMEWHAT!

  • Ohh don't let this one video convince you that they sound "bad" all the time. Cory and Danny definitely still got the vocal chops.I just saw them today, July 28th 2011, and they sounded amazing. They put on great show and they have a great sense of humor! LOVE these guys! Much love and respect :D

  • Hate to say it, they need to hang it up, they're tarnishing their greatness

  • just saw chuck tonight and, i must say, he sounds better than these two combined........this is awful.

  • Screw Chuck. Big ego gone crazy wild. I like him a lot but Cory's my favorite. Still, Cory and Danny shouldn't do Chuck's songs, and Chuck shouldn't do theirs (not that Danny had too many of his own). I'd love to see the full Three Dog Night but if Two Dog Night is all I can get, I'll take it.

  • I wouldn't go as far to say that the band is nothing without Chuck Negron. However, neither Cory nor Danny have the vocal range of Chuck, as evident here in a song where Chuck sings in his higher range. I wish Chuck would join up with Three Dog Night and they could work together again.

  • I've just seen them Cory & Danny about 4 years ago 2008 and they still sounded great ! this was a year later 2009.... they must have had an off night or something , can't be that bad that fast !!!

  • may all of you with the negative comments be blessed with an addict that makes your life hell for years and years...then you too can know what its like~

  • I see Chuck's little videos all the time, as they pop up on my Facebook page (Chuck and I are FB friends, and I was fortunate enough to actually meet him 5 weeks ago; what a kind, charismatic man he is!). He told me that "Two Dog Night" is content to be an "oldies" act now and are in this strictly for the money, and have no interest whatsoever in reuniting with Chuck, which is sad. BTW, he is co-writing the screenplay for "Three Dog Nightmare", which will eventually be a film!

  • this is funny they suck w/o chuck..lol

  • Chuck has no right to be bitter about anything he choose the drugs and the addiction which really hurt everyone involved and killed off the band run to even greater heights!

Chuck choose his path and I doubt very much Cory, and Danny needed to wait around for him to get sober which didn't happen til the 1990's! Danny and Cory have a ton of talent and so does Chuck when he's sober, and by the way Chucks addiction cost him his family also has well has the band! His choice and he choose wrong!

  • @Mr2505federal 1st off they are nothing w/o chuck's soaring tenor voice why do you think he sang must of the hits.. btw he did not lose his family, he has a very good relationship w/ them .

  • @MOSKII58 Bullshit when Chuck was using his whole family walked away and he had to earn his way back in which is how it should be! They also don't suck without Chuck all the band members were highly talented it's just that the other band members choose not to use herion, and cocaine! Chuck lost it all because he loved the drugs, he couldn't even get on a commercial airline because of his antics! Sorry but I wouldn't put up with it and noone else was willing to put up with it, chuck fucked chuck

  • my sister had Chuck at a convention her company had and she said he was rude, cursed in front of young kids and trashed Cory and Danny, Very bitter.

  • @kbencsik1 your sister was upset at Chuck Negron because she wanted to give Chuck a blowjob, and Negron told her that he doesnt fornacate with Hermaferdikes.

  • Cory looks like hell...too bad.

  • Chuck was the one hooked on drugs and has now recovered..and he looks ten times better then Cory and Danny...lol

  • 1974 3 Dog Night, worth the price of admission, 2010 3 dog night just a fair tribute band.

  • You have a good point there. Chuck was great, no doubt. And his legacy lives on.

  • I'm sorry, saw them in the 70's and just saw Chuck Negron last week and Chuck "WAS IS and ALWAYS WILL BE 3 DOG NIGHT", with out him you just have a fair Tribute Band on stage.

  • Oooof...........man this is bad. Without Chuck, they're 1/2 the band. Why? Because Danny never sang anything worth mention and even then was mediodre.

Oh dear me......how can I say this? Well, I'm a musician who emulates both Cory and Chuck when I do 3 Dog Night tunes (which ain't often enough as I'm usually playing a solo act).........I am one of 3 Dog's biggest fans from the beginning.... but this broke my heart.

  • Why in the world would they pick this song to sing? I have watched some of the other videos and they are not too bad, but they absolutely suck compared to Chuck singing this. They should have chosen their own songs. This is bad......really bad.

  • @poundsand you are right they sound awful Cory should have sang "Shambala"..w/o Chuck they are nothing.

  • IMO, this "performance" is an absolute TRAVESTY!! Neither Danny nor Cory (who, after reading Chuck's book, I can say is a total PRICK!), can even come CLOSE to Chuck's vocal ability, even NOW! They need to remove EVERY song on which Chuck originally sang the lead vocals from their repertoire, because NEITHER of these two do those songs any justice!!!!!!!!! JMO

  • these guys are so bad, especially having just seen Chuck perform with his band. There was a time where Chuck reached out and wanted to make some new music together, but Danny and mostly Cory wanted to remain an oldies show. How sad, when a alot their contempories had career resurgence in the late 80's and into the 90's.

  • They can't possibly think they sound good.

  • Those cats need chuck BADLY !!!!(floyd too)

  • Terrible lead in. The band shows how irrelevant this dud is.

  • Comment removed

  • Cory was just getting over a bout of laryngitis, but didn't want to not show up for such a special event.

  • MrLen1955: Don't let these "jerks" get the best of you. It's obvious they're just young bloods... stupid and ignorant, with no sense of direction. LISTEN EVERYONE... we all get old sometime, you know. Why not pipe down and simply enjoy the moment and the song for crying out loud!

  • Oh my, it´s really bad, but this band deserves our respect. Long live and prosper!

  • And the people watching this were saying "What the fuck happened to that guys voice?"

Danny, Cory, you are great in your moments....but you fucked this song up, big time.

Cory, YOU have a fantastic voice...use it to your best....do not try to be Chuck.

Danny, you can sing....do not try to be Chuck or Cory.

  • This group is nothing without Chuck Negron! Enough Said! But must admit your singing for a great cause. It would have been much better with Chuck Negron! God Bless You guys!

  • @wordofadvice1 : AMEN!!!

  • @wordofadvice1 How could you say such a thing , Cory and Danny are just as good as Chuck ! hitting higher notes doesn't mean you're a better singer !!! they all are just getting OLD now and can't sound like they used to anymore , have you heard Chuck's singing lately ?.... geez !

I still love them though , looking forward to see Cory and Danny in August !

  • OMG! Danny sounds horrible singing this.! Ugh!

  • These guys may be in their 60s yet still can Harmonize , maybe not sing exactly like 1970. but better than most groups today and so called SINGERS they wont even go near harmonies or a real singing voice -Did you hear intro: 21 TOP TEN SONGS , worldwide FORGETTA ABOUT IT ....

  • I saw Three Dog Night back in the 70's live on three different venues....one where I was only several feet away. They voices were amazing with their soulful harmonies...they were truly electrifying....didn't know then about the drugs...guess its taken a toll on them..but Cory Wells had one of the greatest soul voices in the business...I will always love them and Chuck Negron needs to get over himself and buddy up with the others after all they've been thru together. Scully

  • @Scully019

It's actually the other way around. They need to get over themselves and buddy up with Chuck. They don't want to sing with Chuck.

  • I've seen them several times over the past few years and this video, with the terrible audio mix, did them absolutely no justice. They can still really light up an audience! I've seen it many, many times before, live and in person. Yes, it is a shame that Chuck isn't there with them... that would truly be awesome to see all of them together again and doing it right. None of them were exempt from the pitfalls of drug abuse at one time or another, but thankfully they all are now clean & going on!!

  • wow, this is sad.

  • @roojunk

    It is indeed sad.

  • have the highest admiration for these guys..

had their own sound and hit after hit early 70's..

the great voices and harmonies are gone but they are one of the few acts that stayed sane and together.. so us older guys are grateful to have them around... one of the last of the pre MTV breed... miss Chuck up there to.

  • They need to stop and go into a home. It sounds horrible.

  • You know they sound hoarse in their speaking voices.... I saw them a year before and they sounded somewhat better. Danny still sang well for how rough his speaking was...I know they still generally sound great, for their age or otherwise

  • The gentlemen are stii a great act. Hutton and Wells are incredible singers. Yes, they are up in age, but you jerks that criticize will be old too, if you make as far as these living legends have in life.

  • @MrLen1955 Sorry, but TDN SUCKS without Chuck Negron! BTW, Chuck is the same age as these two clowns (to whom age has NOT been kind), and despite his 25-year heroin addiction (he has been clean & sober for nearly 20 years now), he looks and sounds a MILLION times better than these two! In fact, he recently recorded several new, original songs, and they're wonderful, and Chuck's voice is even better NOW than in his TDN days! Karma's a bitch, ain't it?! LOL

  • @broncolady4ever yes it is Chuck uploads you tube videos on his everyday happenings, they aren't anythg too exciting but its great to see him and his family at peace and healthy, even his son Chucky is sober i believe.

  • Chuck Negron was the original lead singer on this song. It's a shame they don't reunite. Maybe they should call themselves Two Dog Night. Goodnight!

  • These guys have been rockin' for 40 years--I'd say they're doing something right. The high notes? Hit 'em fine--some of these men are nearing 70--give them a break! Their hearts are, and have always been in the right place--for the fans, and for the cause. Thank you for posting this video.

  • way too cool...really awesome ending on this one too...rock on!!

  • Time to quit

  • I was there... these guys ROCK... you can't really tell from this vid, but they LIT IT UP!

  • WOW!! this is a damn shame...Danny unfortunately can not hit those notes! They are for the original singer only..

It is too tough to watch...just listen to the record..i am cringing watching this.

  • @sanastos Yeah, too bad Chuck couldn't lay off the drugs. 3DN was great as a trio and still pretty good as a duo. Such is life.

  • @yerboyfloyd ... Yes, a very honest and reasonable comment. I also wish that Chuck and Joe (he passed away) had been able to avoid "the stuff." I heard that Jimmy Greenspoon, their keyboard man, was deeply involved too, but I pray that he and Chuck are doing better now. I miss Floyd, but I think he's been doing well Yes, "such is life," and that's why I'm thanking you for your measured and decent comment. Thanks again, "BoyFloyd."

  • @yerboyfloyd ... Oh, and I overlooked one of the other originals, Mile Allsup. He's put on some pounds, but I have too ... plenty! "God bless our troops ... God bless America!" What a great, great message to end with. Love live Three Dog Night!!!

  • "We love you"- OMG Cory's so SWEET & screw you assholes that wrote nasty things about them above

  • I bet they rock at the old folks home

  • OMG that's sad.

    Thanks for posting, though.
