  • Nice catch on the AC6000cw, I like the way the radiators hand over the back.

  • that AC6000 was howling such a magnificent machine

  • the fail of a skipping video. i hated when my old camera used to do that.

  • Liked this and Amtrak train was moving fast, so TU. I've recently uploaded a video Techno Music: Steam Trains At High Speed and they seem to be going faster than any of the Amtrak trains I've seen.

  • Whoa

  • 2:35 That is a Nice Horn! GOOD TIMES! ;)

  • Honk Honk Honk, isn't it 4 honks? I don't know, I'm 19 and I just started getting into trains...I like the BNSF coal trains where I'm at. I live in west Michigan (Pere Marquette/CSX rails). I'd love to be an engineer someday! Lots of money and also get to operate an indestructible thing! :)

  • @biglowgs you can make more money and work a whole lot less if you just go to school and get an education. Here on the railroad you sacrifice a nice normal life to make a mediocre salary.

  • @biglowgs Not only what novakane87 said, but you have to talk A LOT on the radio. Lets use this CSX train as an example. I'm pretty sure its Q299. Just outside of view in this video, there is a signal bridge. It is at milepost 429. When Q299 gets to that bridge, the engineer will have to say something like this:"CSX Q299, Clear(<I am assuming this was his signal indication) C.P 429, Track 1 west. CSXT Six One Six out." The next signal bridge is at the Amtrak Station. Same thing, just different

  • MP. "CSX Q299 Clear C.P. 431 Track 1 west CSXT Six One Six out. When you hear the engineer on the radio, they sound like they want to put a bullet in their head(or somebody else's). Not to discourage you, just letting you know what the deal is. :)

  • There was no speed up. Obviously there was a minor skip in the video, either due to a minor malfunction in the camera, or a minor glitch during uploading.

  • was this video taken as the cam was on a tripod or was it hand held?

  • You definitely speed up the video when Amtrak came

  • the amtrak was going fast because it probaly was express

  • yeah, no, everything is fast in high speed, 2:35-3:36 is a dead giveaway

  • Where was this at?

  • @skidguy43 Sheldon Ave., Lancaster NY

  • To see some beautifully-maintained stock and a nice clean ROW, search on "trains Japan".

  • You caught a CSX ex CR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky you!!!! I caught one which was an sd40-2 though.

  • Question: Why did you speed up the video for the Amtrak? It's not necessary to exaggerate the speed of an Amtrak train.

  • Can I give you some advice? Don't try to shoot through a telephone pole and a metal case. Move up and lean against the pole to steady your camera if you don;t have a tripod.

  • thats actually the Lake Shore Limited that passed through the railroad crossing

  • uh buddy Amtrak train #48 is the eastbound Lakeshore Limited so the title is fine.

  • what was the # on the conrail i saw 7498 in voorheesvile ny

  • Why the hell did you speed the video up to make the Amtrak train look fast on an otherwise sweet video?! sigh

  • @NismoFinder ikr!!

  • @NismoFinder The video skipped

  • This particular train was allow, and likely hit, 100 mph from Hudson to CP-169. That's fast, but by world or even NEC standards. (BTW, if the video speed is accurate, it took 6.5 seconds for 9 85' cars to pass. That's 80 mph.

  • 79mph is only a little bit faster than what you can get away with on the Thruway. Not slow, but certainly not so fast.

  • Where was this video shot?

  • Ooooh. You sped up the video as the Amtrak consist passed through. Why????

  • I HATE those electronic bells! Ugh!

But great catch and thanks for the vid!

  • well in this area trains don't really go that fast. the speed limit on the line is 76 mph or something like that.

  • Why do you people have to be so negative???!!! Why did you say the train was going fast??? Get a hobby! Since when is 80mph slow??

  • excellent shot

  • awesome

  • That's not really so fast. Only about 80 mph +/- a couple.

  • Thats not fast?

  • thats cr isnt old just mistreated by CSX

  • Very likely true. DX

  • holy shit how long do u think the freighter was?

  • sweet catch!!

  • Now thats high speed rail!

  • Hope those tracks are in good order. Great shots!

  • wheres that

  • Amtrack runs a route 3 times a week through the territory I work. There are portions that have the 79 mph speed limit and they do it to!!! I love working on an adjacent track when one goes by. They stop in the Russell Yard sometimes to refuel and when they take off it sounds like a race car!!

  • an old conrail on the back so who do u thank it was csx or ns?

  • That C40-8 was under CSX ownership. If you look closely, you can see the gold number patch on the cab.

  • Great catch on the Ex. Conrail C40-8 trailing. Thats pretty rare because almost all Ex. Conrail C40-8s and SD40-2s are repainted in CSX colors.

  • Whoops, I meant 79 mph, not 70!

  • now thats a good sight to see. very good job keep it up

  • What Amtrak line is that? Lake Shore Limited? Silver Meteor?

  • thanks for the story....I still amaze me why people try beat trains at crossing gates...I just wish people use there judgement on this. But i love u film n the Gates n bells..

  • Yes i see the new lights n gates why so many n i wonder why they not have more like it in my state in georgia....that the crossing gates be same n cover whole road so people can't go around say a reg two lane road r highway

  • CSX was forced into putting 45 million worth of new crossings and tracks and ballast and everything in New York State becuase of a series of bad accidents that hurt there P.R. The local NBC affiliate, WGRZ 2, did a story on it.

  • It looks especially fast when there's a freight train passing by at a slower speed.

  • holy shoot the boot that amtrak is goin fast. and my favorite engine... AC6000CW!!especially CSX!!

  • very good job amtk is moving on nice catch.,

  • very good job amtk is moving on nice catch.,

  • gotta love those c40-8's

  • a lot, there getting rid of some of them due to their age, I heard any CSX engine in Conrail paint is nearing the end of the line becuase they dont bother to repaint them before scrapping.

  • most of the C40-8s are already repainted

  • that mother was fast

  • you said it!

  • Nice!!

  • thanks!

  • damn that Antrack train was going fast, 90mph is my guess on how fast it was going

  • yeah, thats what i think

  • Track speed in this area is 60MPH for freights and 79MPH for Amtrak. 79MPH is the highest track speed allowed without a cab signal system. (Which the CSX waterlevel route is not equipped with.)

  • yeah, I know, I am not sure but I beleive the track can hanlde trains up to 89mph if it had cab signals. And trains do very rarely speed on that route.

  • I'm not sure what that rail would be rated at if the territory was equipped for use with cab signals, but I can't imagine it would be much faster than what it's at already now.

  • I was on #48 a few weeks ago and we hit 94MPH according to my GPS before getting to ALB. A few other times we were close to 90MPH, but 94MPH was our top speed.

  • Track speed increases for Amtrak to 110MPH past Amsterdam. This is due to a cab signal system being present and a better track infastructure.

  • Is the 70 mph speed limit mandated by Congress, or is it just a standard the railroads have developed among themselves?

  • The 79MPH limit was put in place by the FRA. Any faster without a cab signal system would become dangerous....especially during inclement weather or in bad visability areas.
