  • i oiled a bit of the back of the bat of my new incurza elite bat would that be a problem?

  • i shouldnt oil it if it's pre prepared and comes with a protective cover on the bat should i?

  • @MrJDH1111 On the edges and where the slip is

  • @MrJDH1111 I meant not where the slip is

  • @TheMike1745 thanks

  • Helpful

  • Really helpful.

  • @CameronWait1

normally oiling has no impact on how well knocking in goes, I have knocked in my bat before i oiled it,

  • i have linseed oil but is it possible to knock in the bat with just the ball mallet?

  • I just got a Gray Nicolls Kaboom and it came with a polycoat, and I applied oil on the back of it and the edges. Is that allright?

  • why did i click on this, cricket is gay..

  • that gray nicolls had massive edges

  • I have just got a brand new $179.99 bat (its a beast crazy )from rebel sport and it has a pro shield cover on the face of the bat. Do i still knock it in?

  • @MrZaccol it depends. Did it come with a tag saying "pre knocked-in" or "already knocked in"? I have one as well and it came pre knocked in but i bought it from the greg chappell cricket store.

  • @MrZaccol knock in every bat m8

  • You Aussies need to oil you bats mainly on the outside edges as that gets the most workout.

  • Massive bat edge (:

  • all you need is the bat mallet, the ball mallet is a waste of time & money...

  • Sorry i meant @sheths typo

  • @seths best to oil before adding anti scuff sheet so the linseed oil can loosen the fibres of the willow, hope this helps

  • Should I oil the bat first or put the anti scuff sheet first??

  • do not oil the bat too much and dont knock it in too hard

  • do not oil the bat too much and dont knock it in

  • Can u use a camping mallet

  • @cricho97 no, get a ball on a stick

  • awsome

  • can u tell me how much layer of oil is needed to apply

  • Comment removed

  • @SauravBV about 1 teaspoon per coat

  • should you knock in the 'sweet spot' of the bat at all or just leave it?

  • @Johnnywarren1 knock it in, create a dent in the middle and then flatten the rest around it

  • can you use cooking oil Lol but serious?

  • @Rafster2k11 nope linseed oil

  • @gee645 most of the kookabura bats are reasy to use.

  • I'm a tail ender so this doesn't help me much as I barely even get bat to ball ! Lol

  • insted of using a cricket ball mallet can't you use a cricket ball in a bat or something?

  • what bat is that ??

  • How long do you do this process for?

  • thats a meaty bat.

  • I love that bat!

  • I got a new kookaburra beast yesterday. Took it to the nets today and it is an amazing bat

  • anyone know what oil is called

  • @fawknerpolice1

    It tells you

    Linseed Oil

  • @fawknerpolice1 I don't know what type of oil that is but you can get it from any sports shop. Just ask for cricket bat oil and they'll give you one.

Shouldn't cost more than 5 bucks for a bottle!

  • @fawknerpolice1

buy some 100% raw linseed oil from a hardware shop ( I got it at bunnings), thats what i was told is the best thing to use but make sure its not boiled linseed oil

  • when i was like 6-7 i used to call the mallet a mullet lol.

  • how big is that bat!!!

  • it is a fielding bat , thats why is so FAT!

  • Do you still knock in a cricket bat if it has ready play???

  • i was stumped untill i saw this

  • thats a big arse bat

  • hey make my bats :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Navman617 you can knock in the bat wen ever u want and yes even wif a ball mallet.

  • Comment removed

  • @Navman617 100% no if it has a cover it usualy allready has been oiled. oiling it further will jst make the bat heavier.

  • dat bat fuck think!!!... dat ilegal?!?!?!?!

  • how long would you say it would take to knock in a pre papered grey nicolls cricket bat?

  • @ps3king1231 4-6 hours

  • @vikrant553 Its linseed oil

  • where is your shop

  • hey i just got the new blade 750, i was wondering i am knocking my bat in the now literaly:L and i was wondering when you are yousing the wooden bat mallet when u strike the bat is it normall when u look down the face of the bat to see kina impact spots on where u have been hitting it ?? NOT SEEM MARKS!

  • @baillie2k9 yes its ok to see dents on the bat. its means ur making progress

  • @baillie2k9 yousing lol

  • @simzy71 ano !lol thanks for correcting me and i can spell am not a dumbass !lol

    using =)

  • @baillie2k9 Yeah the dents are normal :p

  • @simzy71 yeah it sounds really good now great middle :D

  • yar wats the oil

  • @vikrant553 raw linseed oil or a specialist cricket bat oil.

  • MASSIVE!

  • is grade 3 english willow good?

  • @kurikev no

  • sorry i would just like to ask, i just got my new kookaburra 750 blade, i have oiled my bat and im wondering why... does my bat go brown on one side more than the other?

  • @yerdudezipper I just purchased the CCX 700 and the back of the blade went darker too. Honestly no idea why, it isn't anything to worry about i can assure you

  • ive been told u can do it with a corkie in a sock, i just bought new woodworm megabite and have no hammer, does the sock technique work the same?

  • can anyone tell me knocking in does, because my dad says it doesn't do anything all you need to do is just hit around in the nets

  • @iChAoS1 Protects it from cracking and breaking. When you knock in you are hardening the wood, especially the edges. This will give the bat a longer life

  • @iChAoS1 you need to knock in a bat so that the fibres in the willow compress. this kinda forms a barrier, making the bat stronger. it gets the bat ready for the impact of a cricket ball. if u just play with it without knocking it in, chances are seam marks will appear and cracks will starts appearing.

  • i got CA PLUS 1200 check it out guys its a sick bat got i from pakistan same bat used by Afridi Imran Nazir Dilshan

  • will you need to do the same with a junior bat

  • Did he say don't oil the blade? Isn't that the bit where the ball hits the bat? :L I play but i think i relise why my bat has massive marks on the blade :L

  • @SimplyNoobGaming He said dont OVER-oil the blade! (Y)

  • @aloowq Yeaaa, thats why there's big marks in ma bat :L

  • @aloowq MAkes the bat weak and suspect to rotting

  • sapnin

sick video i just wanna kno what tha bat is called

  • @SameedAhmed Gray Nicolls 1000 Viper mate.

  • n'ah that tune is the funky shizzle!

  • Hi, just wondering if you can start hitting the bat with a mallet as soon as oiling or do you have to wait for a while and if so, how long? Thanks!

  • @MrFriday6 U usually wait 24 hours

  • @MrFriday6 It is best if you wait for 24 Hours

  • @MrFriday6 leave 24 hours for last coat to soak in then begin knocking in :)

  • @MrFriday6 yes u can as soon as u done oiling the bat if it dries oil it again but dont oil the bat toom much and dont knock the bat in too long

  • i want to steal those beautiful bats . :-)

  • @ayaazcyclops me too

  • Hi guys ... I just bought a new Adidas bath , actually I bought 2 ... One English and One kashmir... whats the different, i¨m new in cricket... I¨m from india so I bought it from there.... But i bought it right from the fabric

  • @MiniRossin use the kashmir one for rough or easy use..use english for match use..oil the english one and knock it in..make sure its knocked in well..and take good care of it

  • thank you for the video :)

  • f%^k that is fattt

  • man that edge is f***ing huge, and i thought mine was big

  • THat Tune get irratating

  • i just baught a bat, and the guy said to only oil the back because there is extract on the front, but iv u arnt supposed to why would a greg chappel shop keeper tell you tooo???

  • He didnt mention if you dont knock in your bat properly over time you will get horizontal cracks across your bat grains.

If the ball strikes these cracks in a game it will fly off the bat, but is still doing damage.

If you have horizontal cracks its best to put fibreglass sheeting across the cracks and mostly the edge.

  • lol, you dont oil if you have a exteract sheet.

  • yes you do. you just dont put oil on the extratec. you oil ever other area of wood tht is exposed.

  • do u need to oil then put the xtratec or the other way

  • is there a specific sound you want to get when knocking in?

  • wheres ur shop?

  • I have a question. I have just got this new bat, the season does not until April. Do i knock it in now or near to when the season starts?

  • i would knock now like in the vid and then maybe for 30min-1h near season

  • that is one huge bat!

  • Good helpful video thanks:)

  • sick vid grea bat

  • kookaburra fukin owenes the shittly gn!!!!

  • ss owns them both!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you just use a ball mallet??

  • Yes you can, bu the the seam on the ball mallet can sometimes do more harm than good....my recommendation would be to use a specially designed wooden mallet, they only cost about $10

  • use wooden at 1st then either use ball mallet or an old ball in a sock

  • theres so many bats in the screen

  • I always thought you never oil the splice or back of the bat. what is this rubbish?

  • lol, whats the point in that? your sposed to oil the whole bat to make it last..

  • no you never oil the back of the bat. it makes that very clear, b.c it can loosen the glue and destroy the bat

  • there are labels over the splice....

  • can u use every type of oils like oliv oil

  • @MMRR1996 Nah mate, as he said in the video, other oils will only damage the bat. Linseed oil is made just for wood.

  • the handle on this bat is fucking immense

also i would advise you to not buy a gray nicolls bat as both my brother and i have had major problems with them

    good video though

and after you oil your bat leave it lying down horizontally because otherwise the toe will get oil rot

iCaRRBiiNe you are fucking correct man

    GN sucks

  • i would be in paradise if i was in that shop now

  • if the bats had pre knock in would u still need to give it more?

  • how do you knock in a bat with extratec on?????

  • to knock a bat in with extra tec you oil the part of the bat which does not have extra tec on and then knock it in the exact same way

  • i hate the adult grey niccols bats and the juniors they are planks of wood apart from the willow dont just by a bat because of the stickers by bats because of the pick up big edges dosent make it a better bat

  • look how big that bats edges are!

    wow... thats emence

  • linseed oil is not that necessary for an english willow bat.. it might increase the weight of your bat. if possible jus avoid using the oil and knocking with a wooden mallet is good instead of ball mallet.

  • Can anyone let me know where i find Cricket bat in Oklahoma ... please

  • Oiling first will prevent possible cracking when knocking the bat in so i recoment oiling first.

  • hey guys, i'm playing my first season of cricket this year (although i have been practising for many years) and i just bought a slazenger air blade. I'm wondering how long i should knock the bat for in each area and also does oiling or knocking in come first... or does it not matter?

  • you should knock it in for at least 6 hours

  • holly shit... long process.

  • are u suppose to knock in the sides??

  • well the edges but like your hitting a cricket ball so straight on not right on the sides

  • Hi just purchased a gray niccolls nitro kashmir willow though i know its not as good as english willow but just started so dont want to go for the expanseive bats right away will i still need to oil and knock it in even if its kasmir thanks dudes

  • nah you dont not for kasmir

  • i bought a kookaburra bat a few months back in the uk for around £300 as i do play cricket at a high level but im not sure if the bat was previously knocked in and oiled but when i do bat with it there is no seam marks

  • if i bought an english willow bat that had 'ready play' on it, do i need to oil it? im pretty sure that you dont need to knock it in though if it says 'ready play'.

  • no you dont

  • are there alternatives to the mallet becuse I dont have one?

  • a decent quality,old cricket ball

  • Use a semi-new ball, put it in a sock and start knocking the bat. that is what i have been doing. its easier and produces the same results as a mallet

  • got my new bat this morning.. weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces and only cost 60 quid!

  • I just got a slazenger masterclass limited edition custom made cricket bat for $750

  • Just bought a new stick...Kookaburra Kahuna Players for $725.

Used Gray Nicolls for 17 years straight but my Matrix is falling apart and the Fusion I bought last season broke unfortunately. Decided to give Kookaburra a go.

Doing the damn knocking in process now.

  • Hey is this shop called GREG CHAPPELL cricket centre

  • what country ??

  • the one in north sydney mayb....

  • gray nivolls are shit

  • im getting new bat soon prob grey nick xxx3 custom maybe a best or ballistic

  • Is it okay to use Sesame seed oil??

  • no! who gave u dat dum idea

  • I dunno! Just wondering! =P

  • needs to be linseed oil lol

  • lin seed oil is best becuase it protects it from water damege

ps if you need to buy it dont get the oil from grey nick its good and a better furmiler but if your a seriuose cricket then buy lineseed oil from bunings or hard were stole cheaper and you get shit lode more

  • Most Bats Generally Need 4-8 Hours Of Knocking In But the more you do the greater the bat and Im Not sure about the oil process sorry

  • iv just bought a kookaburra kahuna and it isnt pre knocked in or oiled so how many coats of oil do i need and how long does it need to be knocked in 4. thnx 4 ur help dudes!

  • kashmiri willow one are rubbish i admint but wen it comes to bats like CA and MB MAlik which are made from GRADE A english Willow, they are the best i have had my MB MALIK bat for 4 years now its still in perfect condition :)

  • i knocked in my first cricket bat which was a kashmir willow(i know its crap) by just playing with it with a freind down the field it knoked it in perfectly and it got some nice cherries aswell

  • gray nicolls bats are shit best bats i have come across are english willow MB MALIK SHER AMIN, CA 8000 AND CA 12000 top bats!!!

  • ive got a kookaburra ice sub 40 would i have to use kookaburra oil

  • no, you can use any linseed oil on your bat. bat makers have it as they say 'theirs is the best for the bat' whereas it's no different to any other. It's just a way to make money. I have a GM and i used normal B&Q linseed oil and it worked fine.

    Hope it helps

  • that has got such a fat middle!

  • Pakis thik that kashmir is actually good and reckon tendulkar uses kashmir... because its hard lol... truth is tendulkars bat maker is english and uses english willow.

  • BEASTY BAT MATE!

  • can i use cokkin oil?

  • No LOLLL! You have to use Raw Linseed Oil!

  • can u use it on a Kashmir willow bat ?
