I have just got a brand new $179.99 bat (its a beast crazy )from rebel sport and it has a pro shield cover on the face of the bat. Do i still knock it in?
@MrZaccol it depends. Did it come with a tag saying "pre knocked-in" or "already knocked in"? I have one as well and it came pre knocked in but i bought it from the greg chappell cricket store.

Hey guys, ok so I bought a new puma iridium bat last week and it already had extratec cover on it. I knocked it in, but when I took it to the nets to play it in, the toe cracked a bit. How do I get rid if the crack when I have the extratec cover on the bat?
hey i just got the new blade 750, i was wondering i am knocking my bat in the now literaly:L and i was wondering when you are yousing the wooden bat mallet when u strike the bat is it normall when u look down the face of the bat to see kina impact spots on where u have been hitting it ?? NOT SEEM MARKS!
sorry i would just like to ask, i just got my new kookaburra 750 blade, i have oiled my bat and im wondering why... does my bat go brown on one side more than the other?
@yerdudezipper I just purchased the CCX 700 and the back of the blade went darker too. Honestly no idea why, it isn't anything to worry about i can assure you
@iChAoS1 Protects it from cracking and breaking. When you knock in you are hardening the wood, especially the edges. This will give the bat a longer life
@iChAoS1 you need to knock in a bat so that the fibres in the willow compress. this kinda forms a barrier, making the bat stronger. it gets the bat ready for the impact of a cricket ball. if u just play with it without knocking it in, chances are seam marks will appear and cracks will starts appearing.
Did he say don't oil the blade? Isn't that the bit where the ball hits the bat? :L I play but i think i relise why my bat has massive marks on the blade :L
Hi guys ... I just bought a new Adidas bath , actually I bought 2 ... One English and One kashmir... whats the different, i¨m new in cricket... I¨m from india so I bought it from there.... But i bought it right from the fabric
@MiniRossin use the kashmir one for rough or easy use..use english for match use..oil the english one and knock it in..make sure its knocked in well..and take good care of it
i just baught a bat, and the guy said to only oil the back because there is extract on the front, but iv u arnt supposed to why would a greg chappel shop keeper tell you tooo???
Yes you can, bu the the seam on the ball mallet can sometimes do more harm than good....my recommendation would be to use a specially designed wooden mallet, they only cost about $10
i hate the adult grey niccols bats and the juniors they are planks of wood apart from the willow dont just by a bat because of the stickers by bats because of the pick up big edges dosent make it a better bat
linseed oil is not that necessary for an english willow bat.. it might increase the weight of your bat. if possible jus avoid using the oil and knocking with a wooden mallet is good instead of ball mallet.
hey guys, i'm playing my first season of cricket this year (although i have been practising for many years) and i just bought a slazenger air blade. I'm wondering how long i should knock the bat for in each area and also does oiling or knocking in come first... or does it not matter?

He didnt mention if you dont knock in your bat properly over time you will get horizontal cracks across your bat grains.
If the ball strikes these cracks in a game it will fly off the bat, but is still doing damage.
If you have horizontal cracks its best to put fibreglass sheeting across the cracks and mostly the edge.
