WHY is everyone having problems with this laptop??
I bought this laptop secondhanded and it's working absolutely FINE. I can surf the internet, write in word documents, download lots of movies and music perfectly FINE. The only negative point I can see is that it heats up really fast.
Before complaining about it being Dell's fault, do your research and you'll find out that the Nvidia made a faulty graphics card for this laptop. It overheats and basically breaks the motherboard. So Dell got unlucky with Nvidia. Stop blaming Dell and whining like a baby.
@BoomOCrash Excuse me but who chose the graphic card ? I also have had no end of problems with this computer - When you need it to earn a living , its not a matter of whining, but a simple equation no computer = no income.
Think before you speak seems an adequate answer to your reply.
Dell made a choice- a bad choice- when it became clear this was the case all computers having a problem should have been replaced- It would, in hindsight have been a smart business decision -
I bought this laptop for €1350. It is the biggest waste when you look at it now. It wouldn't restart properly when running Vista on it, luckily I changed to Windows 7 and it worked, The Finger print thing on it is awful and you hurt your finger trying to use it.
My XPS m1330 is going to be replaced by Dell because it ruined my hard drive 3 times. Its not functional at the moment, and it really sucks!!!! My battery lasted 1 hour on battery while surfin on the web. It really really really SUCKS!!! It's really slow too! Right now I'm using my sexy iPad. This can do 10 hours web surfing on battery! LOL
LOL I bought this Dell laptop 3 years ago, and never knew there was a remote control (2:02). I pulled mine out and there was no remote control, just some peace of plastic. Checked the box it came in (yes I kept the box) and no remote control! Never again am I going to do the minimum research of looking in a magazine to choose which laptop to buy. Surprisingly my only problems are the internal fan and battery dying on me recently. Not bad for 3 years.
THE WORST LAPTOP I EVER BOUGHT! i bought this computer in 2009, thinking it would be a really good laptop. bad decision. for the first year, it excelled and exceeded my expectations. then after only a year, it starts crashing multiple times a month and ran extremely slow. it took about 10-30 minutes to start up. i go and have it repaired. i get it back a month later. i turn it on for less than an hour and it crashes. piece of trash. DO NOT BUY!
Worst laptop I ever bought since it came out 2007, I had this for almost 4 years and had to replace the motherboard 3 times! I will never buy dell laptop anymore!
I've had an xps m1530 for 2 and a half years now, the only problem with it s is that a few months ago the backlight in the display got slightly darker at the edges of the screen. Only bothers me because I'm a perfectionist lol no1 else even notices. A lot of the problems (apart from hardware failures) seem to be more windows related than due to the laptop, or dell. I use a combo of windows 7 & ubuntu 10.04. Works flawlessly, so far ;-)
in addition to my last comment, this laptop has a hard time connecting to my printer (every single one of my other laptops used by my family can connect easily), and even freezes when i try to print something. the standard 6 hour battery, in reality, only lasts about 1-2 hours.
buying this laptop was probably the worst decision i've made. for the first few months, it worked great. after that though, it's been crashing AT LEAST a few times a month. it takes about five minutes to overheat after you turn it on. just to start up, it takes about 10 minutes after you turn it on. i've contacted dell multiple times, but they were still unable to fix it. this laptop was a great disappointment to me. i have been officially converted to a mac and never buying a dell again.
This was the WORST PC I ever purchased. It was non stop problems from start to end. The item overheated and broke down constantly. In the end Dell replaced it, and the second one broke down with the same problem after just four months. I stopped using it and then contacted Dell last week. They are sending someone to change the motherboard again. I would NEVER buy another Dell product. I regret spending my hard earned money on this junk.
@TF141Afterburner Same here! I recently bought this secondhand laptop and it's working perfectly fine. I can even download lots of movies/music onto it and it still runs fast. I don't know what everyone's problem is...
@FindingOsamaGrumbles I play league of legends on it, but the highest frame rate i get is 20 fps and you cant upgrade anything because its all attached to the motherboard. Dell doesnt even sell it online anymore though so i dont know where you would get it from. i would really recommend buying it if you can find it anyways. I havent dropped it or anything buy the touchpad's buttons dont work anymore and the alt key fell off so theres no way to right click without a mouse.
@FindingOsamaGrumbles oh, and if you unplug it on the six cell batt it only lasts 2 hours, and the screen darkens instantly and you cant use it outside because it has too much glare.
@FindingOsamaGrumbles >> I would not get this laptop and expect it to perform well with those games, maybe playable on low to medium but not on high settings or anything.

I've owned two M1330 - 2.2ghz and 1.6ghz (current). I changed for the smaller processor because I found the first was running far too hot and required the fan to be on all the time. The second is better but it still is a hot-running computer. It's fine during winter, but in a London summer it is like sitting in front of a small heater.
I love these laptops but the problems with these laptops are the video card failure. Mine worked for 1.5 years for nearly 17 hours a day and sometimes 15 to 20 days non-stop with the internet connected to it and lots of programs running until it started showing vertical multi-colour lines every time i boot up. Other than that it is really sexy laptop!
@TheMrGuest Call Dell! This an nvidia issue. Dell will exchange the graficcard for free! You will get 1 year warranty extra on your booked standard warranty. I am just wondering if I am the only one who has the problem of this computer constantly freezing. (as in word freezes every 15-40 minuets I use it) I even asked a computer guy over to check it and he could not find a problem with it.

reinstallation of driver failed, so now i have no audio driver, i put in my resource cd to install driver and the cd wont work, it told me to reinstall it, so i tried that and that also failed! I`am thinking of smashing it up into little bits, any other ideas?
Can anyone help me? i have an xps m1530 and everything is fucked, everytime i turn it on it has to do a disk check and has been doing so every since i bought it, recently the battery decided to not stop charging, once a week it actual still charges for some reason, and on top of that a new vista update took away my audio, i unistalled audio driver and when i reboot my laptop it simple told me
ei guys just want to ask if its true that may be after 7 o 8 months of using xps m1330 it will suddenly shut down and mother board will be needed to change?im just worried coz my xps is coming 7 months in my hand, just need some advise,or else i will sell it if its true before its too late.
i bought this laptop in march of this year and its been a very good laptop. i probably wouldnt trade it for a macbook though, its good with everyday surfing, dling etc. gaming is very good as well for a casual gamer. cod4 runs well at med-high specs. mine is the 2.3ghz duo core with 4gigs of ram. wonderful computer but it once just shut down on me for no reason. overall i paid $900 for one with a decent nvidia card when it was on sale for $200 cheaper.
at this point dell agree to replace my dell m1330 to m1340 and im still waiting for the new system that dell promise to me. my advice is never buy anything from dell. i lost of my investement here from music files and document that i have never recovered.
i have this xps m1330 and i have the same problem i bought this pc last year of january 2008. the problem begun few weeks later and i have reinstall my pc for 21 times for the last a year and a half and they did a lot of replacement on my pc from mother board or cd drive.
Don't waste your money on Dell.. This laptop has a very short life span! You will be replacing EVERYTHING shortly after 1 year. Even if you purchase the extended warranty, your laptop will be spending most of its time in the repair shop.. Very disappointed in Dell!
i dont know if i can run gta 4-dell inspiron 1520 Intel (R) Core 2 Duo CPU T7100 @1.80GHz 2 gig ram Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb 110gigHD vista.I play undercover on medium too.
Anyways dells are good laptops i been using this laptop everyday 12hrs per day for 2 year and I had never a problem even the battery is good.
It worked like a charm for the first year. After that I have had nothing but problems. Had to replace mother board after a year then it started to over heat like crazy. Couldn't touch the key board after 20 minutes of using the machine. Constantly gets windows patch updates daily. Finally I called Dell support for a replacement. I think they should RECALL this computer for having mother board issues and over heating issues. Please do not buy this laptop unless DELL fixes these known issues.
Since I've own this machine, I've had nothing but problems. We're talking replacement of the motherboard x 2, will need another CD/DVD drive, and whenever Microsoft updates are installed, the computer crashes and goes into another infinite loop. Do not buy this piece of rubbish. Think long and hard about buying a computer which is not adequately supported by customer service. I advise avoiding this company's products if at all possible! This is the kind of thing that drives users to Mac.
I agree 100% with this. I bought this machine in late 2007and it started having problems with the videocard after six months. The board was replaced three times and it then began developing other issues. In the end I asked Dell to replace it and they refused. I had to threaten court action until they gave me a new one. Quite possibly the worst experience I have had with a PC. i would never buy Dell again. The laptop looks nice, but it's poorly made.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i could agree with u 100% i have have never thought that im not alone. i have replace a lot of system issue from mother board and i have reinstall this pc at least 20X for the last 2 years.
I agree. I just had my motherboard replaced. I have had nothing but problems since day one... I am now having problems with the fingerprint scanner and I am so Frustrated!! I really do not recommend this computer to anyone!!
The XPS series is fantastic. I own an XPS M1330 and I love this laptop. It's never let me down. It has a host of great features. Unless you are some chunky fingered Neanderthal who can't control their hands then you should have no problem with this laptop. Only bad thing is that Windows comes standard with Dell's.
got the larger XPS for almost 2000 AUD, After about 4 months, the batery life lowered to slightly less then an hour, ran a hell of a lot slower and started to get odd problems like blue screen of death (didnt actually die) and odd happenings where the computer wouldnt turn on properly. I will never buy dell again :(. By the way they have good customer service for repairs, its just a shame you have to repair so often.
Call center??? They barely can do that, I bought a new Dell, and had some problems, so I called, the service center was in India, even though they all had western names. The service was horrible, they passed me around just like that Youtube parody..........don't buy a Dell! By the way, the chrome "S" came off from the LCD cover after 2 days, and I had to glue it back on. I would not buy another Dell. Go with Sony or something else.
Do not buy one I bought mine last year and what a load of shit it is, it keeps overheating, hard drive failures and the mother board has blown 3 times
I'm about to go to college next year, and I'm choosing this exact model (hence, why I'm on this video) with 2GB RAM, t6400, 320GB HD, slim screen, b/g adapter, and 6-cell battery.
Xps system is a great computer. I personally have the 1530 which is just a larger screen. However it's a great computer for a college students. runs fast, starts up quickly. Only problems is that I had some hard drive issues... not the best, (i recommend backing up often, same as any pc.) Def. a great computer though
Bought this a year ago as a college student and this is the best laptop in my opinion. 13" is perfect size. fast laptop. Battery lasts over 2.5 hours!! LoVE IT!!!
Great Laptop. Had it since it came out, no problems. Upgraded the RAM myself to 4 gigs. It runs Pro-Tools 8, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, The Sims 2, and my Zune software with ease(not all at once, obviously). I suggest getting an external hard drive so you won't bog down your hard drive, though. No complaints here.
The slot load cd/dvd trays are neat but traditionally are known to come without a pin hole for forced eject if the media disk gets stuck inside for whatever reason. Also the screen flexes but don't worry?.. Most experienced laptop/notebook users know that if it flexes the chance of repeat flexes increase and the more you flex it the higher the risk the screen casing will eventually wear out, split and come right off.
Yes i agree with all that has been said. This has been the worst PC I have ever owned. I paid top price for this piece of garbage. The video card burned out, the customer support was rubbish, Dell had three attempts to repair it and then damaged the casing. In the end I had to threaten court action to get a replacement. Their call centre is rubbish, gthey are rude and arrogant. I would NEVER give Dell another cent of my money. Thet are without doubt the worst company I have dealt with.
my xps is great i dont know what you are all talking about ive had it for about 2 years never broke down on me

Do you guys, when you un-plug your Dell laptop, get a white screen with yellow and purple lines, and it just jams there?...
It gets annoying after a while.

I've been selected by dell to get one of my own. And i'm only 12 so i'm going to have my mom fill everything out 4 me.

i bought this laptop in march of this year and its been a very good laptop. i probably wouldnt trade it for a macbook though, its good with everyday surfing, dling etc. gaming is very good as well for a casual gamer. cod4 runs well at med-high specs. mine is the 2.3ghz duo core with 4gigs of ram. wonderful computer but it once just shut down on me for no reason. overall i paid $900 for one with a decent nvidia card when it was on sale for $200 cheaper.
good laptop overall due to its design

i have this xps m1330 and i have the same problem i bought this pc last year of january 2008. the problem begun few weeks later and i have reinstall my pc for 21 times for the last a year and a half and they did a lot of replacement on my pc from mother board or cd drive.
ChrisRedfieldChannel 2 years ago
Don't waste your money on Dell.. This laptop has a very short life span! You will be replacing EVERYTHING shortly after 1 year. Even if you purchase the extended warranty, your laptop will be spending most of its time in the repair shop.. Very disappointed in Dell!

This is the kind of thing that drives users to Mac.
starant1 2 years ago 2
I agree 100% with this. I bought this machine in late 2007and it started having problems with the videocard after six months. The board was replaced three times and it then began developing other issues. In the end I asked Dell to replace it and they refused. I had to threaten court action until they gave me a new one. Quite possibly the worst experience I have had with a PC. i would never buy Dell again. The laptop looks nice, but it's poorly made.

My experience with dell
I order a laptop XPS studio on March this year
In May after a lot of calls asking what happened they send to me an ordinary email saying that is lost in the send.
That I have 2 options, they can send it again or return my money.
I didn want to wait another month so I ask for the money (but it will take 48 days)
However they charge the 3 monthly quotas from my credit card.
Now in August Im still waiting for my money, and the support number..no solutions really useless.

Go with Sony or something else.

so far I think its the best laptop for the money; I'm about to go into college so i've looked EVERYWHERE
i chose dell over hp
i chose this over the studio 15 and the studio xps
i think the studio xps is better, except that theres some design flaws and the battery sucks
i checked one at the dell website, fully loaded for about 1266
with that you get core 2 duo 4 gig sdram 500gb hd
i havent found any problems except that the graphics has only 128mb, but its an ultraportable so thats usual
zerospec2 2 years ago
I'm about to go to college next year, and I'm choosing this exact model (hence, why I'm on this video) with 2GB RAM, t6400, 320GB HD, slim screen, b/g adapter, and 6-cell battery.

Xps system is a great computer. I personally have the 1530 which is just a larger screen. However it's a great computer for a college students. runs fast, starts up quickly. Only problems is that I had some hard drive issues... not the best, (i recommend backing up often, same as any pc.) Def. a great computer though

Pitraptor 2 years ago
Yes i agree with all that has been said. This has been the worst PC I have ever owned. I paid top price for this piece of garbage. The video card burned out, the customer support was rubbish, Dell had three attempts to repair it and then damaged the casing. In the end I had to threaten court action to get a replacement. Their call centre is rubbish, gthey are rude and arrogant. I would NEVER give Dell another cent of my money. Thet are without doubt the worst company I have dealt with.
