  • great horney toads!!!

  • thanks becouse i have one

  • do they all shoot blood from there eyes

  • I believe only some species of horned lizards shoot blood from the eyes as defensive means: Scientific names: coronatum, cornutum, orbiculare and solare.

  • The four you listed are the only ones scientifically documented to shoot blood but most others are suspected of the behavior. Horned lizards will only shoot blood at mammalian predators (the blood doesn't affect birds and reptiles) and only when they feel threatened enough.

  • Navajos consider the horned toad to be very sacred, and are to be greeted like an elder, and not killed or harmed. They are used to bless one's self for good luck, which may involve touching the lizard, but not harming it.

I came across a bunch of newly hatched horned toads. There were at least eight or ten. Several were killed by a passing truck, but I rescued the survivors and put them in a safe location.

  • I haven't seen one of those since i was like three they're like endangered or something.

  • They're not, but now that a lot of people own cats, they get killed off. They're all over the place, where I live.

  • Get a nile monitor, read an article somewhere where this ladies cat got ate by one. >:)
