  • Beautiful guitar harmonies. Great song too! I so miss this kind of talent in today's stagnant musical world. I'm sure it's still out there - but no-one gives a damn. I'll just have to settle for watching X Factor with girlfriend, or taking too many pills with whiskey!

  • Meaningful, absorbing, fantastic classic rock lies within!

  • Who wants music that came out this week? eeeeeewwwwww :-(

  • Radio in the USA is indeed lame. If I had any balls, I would quit my job and tour the world educating everyone about Thin Lizzy.

  • I have a Lizzy tribute band ( we are all in our 40's and yes we kick ass! )....Nice to see younger people embracing older music. Just because it's not from THIS WEEK doesn't mean it's not awesome & relevant. We are working on this song now, challenging...tho it sounds simple...

  • Wild One, Roisin Dub and It's Getting Dangerous are my favorite of Thin Lizzy. Even if my best band is Metallica, I hold a big place in my heart for Lynott, Gary Moore and their friends !

  • That's crazy how unknown is that band.. In my opinion WAY BETTER than most famous ROCKSTAR or band like Hendrix or The Door... that made more crappy stuff... that sound so sweet rock, heard that would make everyone in the same side, muslims, chistians, black, white, rednecks.... If only the wind could blow that sound to the whole earth at the same time..

  • I don't mean to be a broken record BUT do NOT under any circumstances see anything calling itself THIN LIZZY or any tribute bands!!!

THIN LIZZY died when Phil died. Nuff said. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. Cheers.

  • YOUTUBE performs a valuable service to the world. It expose people to an infinite variety of music & artists that they may not be familiar with or just know from one song that gets played to death on "Classic Rock" radio. Thin Lizzy is a classic example. They are a great rock band. If all you know about THIN LIZZY is "The Boys Are Back In Town" & Jailbreak, there are are a LOT more great songs such as "Wild One," "Still In Love With You," "Southbound" & "The Rocker." This is first class rock!!!

  • @entwistle4ever I also like Pandora. Since I've started listening to it, I've created several stations and have opened myself up to thousands of bands that I like that I've never even heard of before listening to the lame-ass radio stations.

  • I MISS THIS TAPE IN MY TRUCK, CDS' ARE EVIL----THEY SKIP

  • The Most Under-rated band of all time, yeah the Beatles changed music worldwide and I love the Beatles, but Ireland had fallen behind in Beatle-Mania still listening to Irish Showbands and a group like Thin Lizzy was un-heard of, they changed music in Ireland Forever!, sure Whiskey In The Jar and Boys Are Back In Town are fabulous songs but songs like Wild One, Cowboy Song and Look What The Wind Blew In will always be the best of Thin Lizzy. LETS FACE IT, U CAN'T BEAT LIZZY!

    Scott just let go!

  • Phil sure sounds like Bruce Springsteen, I never thought of it before -

  • @SupernalOne on their first tour in the states, bruce came up to phil and told him he had to meet him

  • lizzy rocks full stop.

  • Attn kids, do NOT, repeat NOT, pay money to see anything calling itself Thin Lizzy in concert.

Phil is DEAD. There is no Lizzy without Phil. Listen to the records. Go on YOUTUBE.

A lot of Americans only know Lizzy from "The Boys Are Back In Town" and maybe, maybe, "Jailbreak." As fellow Youtuber mdelair420 says below, there is a helluva lot more!

  • @entwistle4ever Totally agree! I'm in a Yahoo group that boasts members that are usually hip to good music, be it current or "classic", but once the subject of Thin Lizzy came up, a couple of them chimed in how they were "sick of them"! What they are "sick of", is Classic Rock radio's refusal to play anything but "The Boys Are Back in Town"... But those of us who give a damn know there's SOOO much more to the legendary band!

RIP, Phil Lynott... you are sorely missed...

  • This band is like a lost cave full of gold and silver...To all those who find this cave enjoy the spoils..For this cave is Stocked full of treasures...Peace out...R.I.P ....Phil we miss you..

  • I agree with a statement below that this band is underrated,

and Wild One is one of my favorite songs ever

  • go out and buy all the land and thin lizzy albums you can, because Gods not making any more if it

  • The bands of today could never make songs like this pure class. Robbo had a lot to do with it as well as Phil.

  • Compare these guys to the lame dullards now. Fantastic band.

  • Watched a bio on Phil the other night at 4 in the morning. I was shattered but couldn't not finish it. What a musical influence and what a true loss to rock. This brings me to tears. Rest in peace Phil. xxxxx

  • fighting my way backkkkk

  • Comment removed

  • i just rediscovered Thin Lizzy.

  • @alovemarvel dont you love when that happens

the best ive heard of that era

  • puta musica,puta banda.....uma das melhores do rock....thin lizzy \o/ \o/.......

  • l intro la plus melancolique de thin lizzy

  • I phtogographed THin Lizzy in 77 when they opened for Queen. TO see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • mike and me tried and tried to play guitar, one day when i was 13,i went to my brother mikes,JIM,you have to listen to this, the jailbreak,we were never the same

  • Sweet Jesus these guys were so hot back then fantastic band for sure. Unlike the spineless humourless nitwits who call themselves rockers nowadays silly arses.

  • Brilliant. My dad loves this band and now I know why.

  • The influence of this band is huge. Metallica referencing them in an interview is what got me to know them at first.

  • I want this played at my Funeral.

  • Best drumming ever!

  • @rhodie007 incredibly cool drummer alright...really tasty drumming, flash but just right for the song. Big fan of Downey's here too:)

  • This is truly sublime.. another dimension of music. Tired of beiber, gaga, diddy and jlo

  • this song remids me so much of my ex girlfriend cus she was truelly a wild one.and i miss her.

  • fighting is hands down thin lizzy's greatest album!

  • @thelordbird You are indeed not erroneous in your contention, Dear Sir. It is way and away their best (Black Rose wasn't bad either though).

  • This is their ultimate melancholy song and one of the best I know of also. Lynott and Lizzy forever!

  • i really wish i was around when these guys were in their prime, im 16 and they're my hero's, brian downey especially.. i saw them live in dublin in the olympia and the singer they had was good but he was no phil lynott. r.i.p. to him and the great gary moore too.

  • I miss ya Gary moore and Phil (Yep Gary died in febuary this year) please come back to us guys we miss ya too damn much

  • This is a cover? First cover I hear with TL then.. but what a awesome one :D

  • @spediteur84 This is not a cover....he meant cover like picture of album :D

  • @spediteur84 metallica cover thin lizzy"s whiskey in the jar and funeral for a friend did the boys are back in town

  • @siskohellkaiser94 and John Norum cover Wild one, opium trail, killer without a cause and i'ts only money =)

  • fuckin love this song:))

    me n my babys song<3

  • only PHIL can sing this. incredible- haunting voice. everything from pop vocals to speed metal. mad skillz lizzy.

  • How can we carry on when you are gone my wild one...To me that is Phil Lynott at his purest! R.I.P

  • @beatlesecw Yep...One Of My All Time Favourite Lizzy Tunes This...Its Haunting Lyrics Make me Miss Phil Lynott More and More...So Sadly Sadly Missed On This Planet..we are The Losers Cos he is In another Place ...RIP Phil.

  • simply brilliant. phil, you are still alive in our hearts!

  • this would make a great country song. phil's songs have that nashville quality.

  • @ezrhino100

Check out "Borderline" from the Johnny the Fox album for more nashville vibes.

  • this would be a great country song... some of phil's song have that nashville quality.

  • i love this song, so much

  • fuck yea rock an roll.

  • The guitars on this are just sublime and work so well together, lets hope the future holds as good or better 8)

  • And shall I say best irish band ever BY FAR!!!

  • Certainly one of the pityest deaths of all rock n roll times.. Higher quality indeed, thanks my friend and bravo Maestro Phil!

  • I can not stop playing this song over and over again........

  • Great Song!!! Real Rock and Roll!

  • I'm in my mid 20's and was just recently exposed to Thin Lizzy's lesser known stuff. I can't believe how good this sounds. I had always heard of Thin Lizzy but figured, like most people my age, they were a two hit wonder as the retarded classic rock stations that play nothing but Stairway and Freebird would have people believe. It's amazing how underrated and under-appreciated this band is. It's also astounding how much of today's rock sound is clearly derived from these guys.

  • @djw151 The joys of getting older mate lol, although i still love freebird and stairway 8)

  • @djw151 tru dat

  • @djw151

actually many of those bands played on classic rock stations have pretty solid catalogues.

  • @djw151 me too bro, 27 here, growing up in america all i knew of lizzy was boys are back in town, jailbreak, and bad reputation, about 2 years ago a co worker turned me on to the Johnny The Fox album, and i have been a FULL FLEDGED Lizzy fan ever since. PHIL LYNOTT FOREVER!!! i played the violin in grade school, now i rock the bass, mostly because of PHIL!!!!!

  • I know the bassist from this band!

  • The first time I heard the solo, the hair on my neck bristles up... and it still does. Probably the most overlooked and under-rated band ever.

  • Whew...could these dudes play or what?

  • YES

  • So you go your way and wild one I'll try and follow!

  • love this song!!!

  • this song is gonna be on my body forever

  • This song makes me happy.

  • What a fucking great name for an album. And what a quality, quality song.

  • the first verse is just so good

  • Brian Downey had such a BIG part in making Lizzy's sound yet he's often over-looked because it was a band with such strong personalities. In any other band he'd have reigned King.

  • i am wild one.

  • wow, such a cool song! Those harmonies in the solo are INSANELY cool!

  • sbyrne1...I believe that you are correct. How sad. What a GREAT band they were. I was at Royal Oak Music Theater in suburban Detroit, MI in the late 70's with my best friend. We witnessed the "warm-up" band AC/DC get BOOED off the stage (not because they were necessarily BAD), but because we could not WAIT for THIN LIZZY!

Philip was incredible, Gorham and Robertson were unbelievable! GOD I loved this band...

  • @seymouro seen lizzy play this track in 1970s at the round house and got back stage i was only 17 and just starting to play gtr and gorham and robertson showed me the solo mind robertson was well pissed but could still play ...

  • sbyrne1...I believe that you are correct. How sad. What a GREAT band they were. I was at Royal Oak Music Theater in suburban Detroit, MI in the late 70's with my best friend. We witnessed the "warm-up" band AC/DC get BOOED off the stage (not bec ause they were necessarily BAD), but because we could not WAIT for THIN LIZZY!

Philip was incredible, Gorham and Robertson were unbelievable! GOD I loved this band...

  • Being a child of the '60's I was able to see numerous fabulous bands in concert. The Stones, The Who, The Dead, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin and many more too numerous to count. Out of all of that the best concert I ever saw was Thin Lizzy and Queen playing Cobo Arena in Detroit in 1976. Queen was the headliner and they were great, but after the show, me and my buddies figured we had just seen the greatest rock and roll band on earth in Thin Lizzy and we became devoted fans. Great memories!

  • Totally digging Brian Downey's drumming on this-- then, I hear the bass guitar, vocals and Thin Lizzy's "Twin Guitar" sound. Amazingly talented, the lot of them! I tend to love the songs from the Gary Moore and Brian Robertson era the most!!

  • Those were the days.

  • amazing solo! its fuck dreamy!

  • the new stuff just cant get to your soul like the goods from the 70s. thin lizzy were and remain a rare jewel

  • @bassmanforchrist A legend in Rock... one of the great guitar bands

  • Phil was the man! Love this song! The entire fighting album is great! the best if u ask me!

  • Sure wish people would listen to Thin Lizzy more. They are more than just "JailBreak" or "The Boys are back in Town." don't get me wrong they are great songs! Just there is more to bands than their singles. God I love this song.

  • I love the clean drum strokes at :55 especially.. I admire Brian Downey's drumming style. This band had everything --great tunes and no matter the period of the band, the musicians were exceptionally superior to most of their counterparts. (I say this in particular from the Lynott, Downey, Robertson, Gorham period especially),

  • ah thin lizzy the best ever!!!we played this song at my best friends funeral who was killed in a motorcycle crash 4 years ago and it always brings back memorys sad and happy when i hear this song(hope me mate bought phil a jar in the big bar in the sky for all those excellent songs)gone but not forgotten!!!

  • Lizzys greatest song ...

  • best voice ever .

  • Not one of the bands best songs. But hey It's hard to dislike Thin Lizzy for to long. So I will like it only becuase it Thin Lizzy.

  • @paulwall1981 What ????? Have another listen brother.

  • damn i love this song...... gonna break the lp out now haha

  • @retrowagen1234

The LP, I love it. Rock on

  • Thank you for knowing how to post, Stereo and a good volume.

  • Beauty Beauty thats me Yes thats me me me me i am shure that song is about me but I never would return to my bornland, cause Mexico is my new Home, Mi Dulce Familia Mexicana mia para Siempre !

  • nice

  • One of my first introductions into rock genre. <3

  • remember its takes more than 1 to make a band

  • Phil gave his life to music, and sometimes I wonder if he sacrificed his life to the legends of the rock ages to keep this never forgotten band...in the minds of his fans..."oh but its a habit worth forming if it means to justify the end."

  • R.I.P PHIL!

  • severely missed.

  • American music sometimes concerns youth leaving a broken home and making a way in the world. Springsteen's "Born to Run" may be the modern archytype of this theme. Perhaps it is just a musical echo of a American tradition of departure. On the other hand, it seems that Irish music--folk as well as rock (see "Missing You", "Thousands Are Sailing")--is often sung from the point of view of the ones left behind. I know of know better, more beautiful example of that narrative than this song.

  • Does anyone else think that Philly wrote this song about himself? It brings me to tears, just so damn melodic. Truly a huge loss to rock.

  • FUCK THE EAGLES!!!!NO THERE ALLRIGHT.phil might hve been inspire by them for this song.

  • IMHO-Lizzy,s Best Ever.

    God Bless Philo.!!

  • FUCK YEAH!!!

this is my favourite Thin Lizzy song!

  • FUCK YEAH! FUCK YEAH! FUCK YEAH!

  • the band looks awesome nowadays, compared to assfucking chavs and emo's, image what people must have thought of them in those days....(wow i look gay, with this hair cut) LOL thin lizzy are amazing!

  • This man was a f***ing genius.

    R.I.P.

    Always remembered.

  • cool cover....Phill lynott we miss you alot

  • @TheRisingforce2000 Cover? Phil wrote this - it's a Lizzy original and this is the original recording... did I miss something? ru referring to someone else who covered this - if so, would LOVE to hear it!

  • I think Rising meant the song 'Rosalie' which is the first track off the same album

  • I meant the cover of the albumn not the song

  • woops :D our apologies !

  • @TheRisingforce2000 phil loved comic books you can tell. so cool. the art work is like silver age comics. meaning comics from the 12cent and up. thats silver i think its about 69 or so when that age starts. before that it was golden age. all the first books. phil read alot of golden age as kid probly. so he used the art for these album covers. he had alter egos well super heros do to, so you see the connection. so simalur.peace

  • that solo is just amazing

  • This is my favourite Thin Lizzy song. I think that he's talking me, in my younger days. Fantastic tune, fantastic drumming. I love it! It should have been a hit song, why wasn't it?

  • Agreed, a completely over looked band for the most part. Never really got their just due. I still got the vinyl cover to this album. Way back when people were listening to Duran, Duran and the Fixx. Ok, I was listening to them too.....I had broad listening interests.

  • some people just dont comprehend how great this song and this band is.all they know is the boys r back in town or jail break.lucky for us we know how great this music is. the solo just played it gives me chills.peace.rip phil

  • @mdelair420 i have searched high and low for a Thin Lizzy LP,are they that hard to find,i have come across a beach boys LP,a few Beatles(which i bought for my father on Fathers Day"he was thrilled")but Phil lynott is so hard to come across, you would have to be lucky

  • @Elevationary Hey bud. Try ebay, they always have some on the go. Take it easy and rock on

  • @Elevationary

Any luck finding one? I just got myself a copy of Grand Slam the collection, its rare enough but defiantly worth checking out.

  • @nottoberemembered yeah! i got my hands on Thin Lizzy Jailbreak Record, and it is in mint condition, and the cover smells like brute....you can smell the Aftershave off it,by the way they sell Thin Lizzy T-shirts on eBay too.....if your buying a record, make sure it comes with the Cover,i see a lot of them without sleeves....and you have to ask them if it has a cover,a sleeve, and is it scratched......it is worth more with the cover, the sleeve is less important..but needed to keep it clean...

  • @Elevationary i've come across quite a lot of Thin lizzy LP's rather more easily than you seem to be, including the fighting album. Happy hunting to you friend! I hope you get your record fill :)

  • @mdelair420 amen....I cant tell you how many times ill be on a road trip with my friends and I'm like, let me educate you. I put this on, and their minds are blown.

Truly the most underrated band of all time

  • @mdelair420 yep, if not for an older friend and his greatest hits album I'd be in the same doomed boat. "Renegade" "Black Rose" "Wild One" "Lonely Hearts" Awwwww so perpetual

  • That`s a pretty cool song by Thin Lizzy !

  • the cover is pretty bad ass

  • Great melody, bass and rhythym song; >>> PERFECT >> SIMPLY THE BEST

  • R.I.P. Phill Lynott, thats a fukin god damn shame!!!!

  • powerful and musicaly brillant

  • of course i got johnny th fox .....fuck yea thats cool, kudos for knowing so much but the lizzy cheers

  • wait who the hell is jonny? lol

  • A reference widely used in Thin Lizzy songs. (Johnny The Fox) Johnny, Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed. I think it's just an alter ego Phil made up. Awesomely cool :P

  • @sbyrne1 you got that right its a alter ego. way cool phil is missed.peace thin lizzy fan.

  • bad ass song!!! what does he say at 2;12?

  • cause johnny goes a rolling home

  • Wow. Thanks razortube and thanks morbid for asking. That was bugging me so much! I shall amend the lyrics straight away. Take it easy!

  • hell yea bro thanx

  • I think of my best friend that past away evertime I listen to this amazing song .. R.I.P Erik ..Wild One .. R.I.P Phil

  • One of the greatest songs of all time!

  • the best song of the time....

  • Thin Lizzy is so underrated its fucking sad, they are with no doubt one of the best rock bands ever! This song is awesome just like all their songs.

    THIN LIZZY!!!

  • What a GREAT song! Lizzy, Pie, UFO, & Purple. Lynott, Marriott, Mogg, & Gillan. Did it ever get better? I don't think so.

  • happy birthday phil!

  • Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow.....what a magnificent group of bands thay were!!

They just don't make them like them anymore!!

  • one of the most underrated bands of all time, absolutely brilliant.makes me proud to be Irish!

  • WHAT A SONG!

  • why does it have to all be in the past??????? NO FAIR!

  • thats why people over forty slag all the rubbish thats on now-its watered down trash trying to emulate the masters,we seen it all done it all the lucky ones died

  • There is a Live version that really kicks! Look for it on youtube...

  • Indeed that is my favourite version too they are so cool on it. I love Scott's leg movements lol. What an amazing show!

  • If you but the Thin Lizzy DVD "Live and Dangerous", it comes with a bonus cd called Live in Derby and they play this song live!!

  • this song is so great thanks for putting up such a classic song

  • Thin Lizzy should've gotten greater recognition in the States and you barely hear any of their music on the radio.

  • that just makes them closer to our hearts :)

  • this song reminds me of all the people i love who have gone away, and because of this song i dont think i can ever move from my home town, because it is home...it is my heart :) I love lizzy, forever

  • hey guitarlad,

i do understand you well! but you shouldn´t stay "just" because of this. . . you´ve also got to live your life! and keept his in your mind:

whereever you go, you keep all the memories of your beloved friends within you!

nobody can steal them and exact those memories keep them alive - forever!

    *take care*

  • In the name of God.

This song is Thin Lizzy / Lynott at ITS purest. Good honest rock, with the hint of..... you know, I know, we all know and WE can all relate to that wild one.

  • I just hit "Thumbs Down" on your comment, but I meant to hit Thumbs Up. When Phil was at his best lyrically, it really painted a picture in your mind about the people he was talking about. Such a great lyricist.
