@jagkeum1212 He had to turn himself solid. Akainu was heading STRAIGHT to punch a hole in Luffy's head, the only way Ace could stop him (since Akainu is a Logia and any attacks Ace made would either pass through him or just ending burning Ace), was to use himself as a human sheild :(

I was shocked. First saw One Piece when 4kids dubbed it, didn't really get into it. Then saw the proper, original manga/anime and started to really like it around 2008. Read the manga when it got translated weekly on the internet, and was stunned when this happened, that Oda finally killed off a major character outside a flashback. Didn't cry, but I liked Ace, had a moment of silence and felt for the characters.
