oh god i am so sharing in this groove! oh eighties, funny one of the things people think about the 80s is bad music, and when you hear this it's like, i'd say phish was in the top 5 of best music makers, if not top 3
Wow, that sounded phenominal. Early Phish was the best. That was the four of them at the time. Jeff, Trey, Mike & Fish, Page for this show, just sat in during the third set of this show. This Mike's was during the first set. Sounded great, thanks for posting this.
@writer125 I wonder if they still would be where they are today if Jeff had stayed in the band. In my opinion Phish is best with just one guitar, big red :). But this is awesome and they still sounded awesome with Trey AND Jeff but Trey. I remember when Trey said that he didn't want a keyboard in his band, he changed his mind and the rest is history :) or Phishtory, whichever. Damn this version gets better and better, sounds like Trey has Time guitar on this 1 or even his old Ibanez b4 LDocs
Also, around the 7 minute mark guitars are playing single notes instead of power chords like they started doing shortly after this, relatively. It's so cool to hear this, it's been so long!
This is an absolute gem. For all the phans out there, check out the CMAC show from 6/29/2010: Mike's Song>Simple>I am the Walrus>Weekapaug Groove...keep sharing in the groove.
I arrived at Davis Hall, Redstone Campus as a UVM frosh in 1987. I got into Ph on tape in 1990. Saw my 1st show at Barre Memorial Auditorium in 1991.
I wish this 'vid' had video-- or I had arrived at UVM a couple years sooner!
They were still playing the dorms, Billings, and Nectar's when I was there, but who knew? There were scores of bands in Burl., and I didn't get into them til I did. So be it.
I LOVE THIS! and look... a young Andrew McCarthy joins the band!

The people watching this have no idea what they would become in just a few years. Everybody has to start somewhere. Good stuff.

What's that at the end of the song? A pre-hydrogen second part to the trilogy?

I like treys guitar work on this. he is very experimental. I guess because he was young.
