  • it is a mild , very mild seizer, take her to the vets to get meds kus they can become worse, ohh and pretty dog!!!!!!!!!

  • It was a partial seizure, seizure behaviour. She went on to have full epileptic fits about 18 months ago. She is now on medication and it has almost stopped the head dipping attacks and she hasn't fitted for 2 months now.

  • that was not a 'Seizure

  • @XLovelyEmoPrincessX yes, that was a seizure

  • Don't give any salt ! Snack like potato chip or any snack with salt. That is cause seizures. If I don't give my dog like potato chip snack and he wont seizures.. Believe me. Alice

  • I would have just thought the dog was acting weird, wouldnt have thought he was having a seizure...

  • Looks like she is learning to bow before the Queen.

  • These look very like atonic seizures to me (rather than myoclonic which usually involves a whole body 'jerk'). The other main differential would be cataplexy which involves brief loss of body tone (usually in the whole body though) - often precipitated by food or other emotional situations, as in people. Have you tried therapy with an anticonvulsant?

  • @UnimelbVCCNeurology Thanks for your input. Mouse was seen yesterday at RCVS and had a brain scan and spinal tap, plus bloods. No abnormalities were found so diagnosis is idiopathic epilepsy and the movements in the video as probable seizure activity. She has started medication today on phenobarbitone.

  • if it is lasting an hour, it isn't a seizure. once a seizure hits the 5 minute mark, they are fatal.

  • Yes, she has also started having seizures and they only last a couple of minutes and are entirely different. The seizures are always followed by an attack like the above.

  • @coolvawn Try switching the food. A lot of the costly brands of dog food are adding a herb or more that causes problems. They (makers of it) think it prevents seizures for majority of dogs which it probably does. But other dogs it actually induces them. My dog had worse seizures then this and she is now cured from having them. I gave her milk thistle, some raw moose meat, and switched her to a brand of dog food that is cheap (doesn't have rosemary extract in it). Going on a year and she is fine.

  • @clg26 That is brilliant, I'm so glad she is better. My dog has a natural diet, no commercial dog food. At one time I stopped all supplements, just in case, but it made no difference. I know, in my dog, that fish oils can trigger an attack, so I make sure she doesn't have them.

  • My Weimaraner was having seizures just like this -- turns out it was from a pest control chemical being used in our apartment complex. If your pup is still having seizures, keep an eye out for any toxins and try to eliminate them. I'm sorry your baby has to go through this...

  • Thanks for your help. I believe it was the toxins in the vaccination that did this to her. I do not use any flea treatment on her, and she dislikes any 'chemical' smell like paint, petrol etc. She has a natural diet also. She has started having full epileptic seizures now as well.

  • the head bobbing is classic seizure behaviour

  • My mom's yorkshire terrier has a couple of these a year, but he does not move, he just locks up sitting down. its really weird.

  • oh jeeze, i hope he/she gets better, poor doggy =(

  • Aw poor dog...

  • No, it always follows an epileptic fit or, usually, happens on its own.

  • Well the epileptic atack is like a storm in the head and discharges are always present i think she is feeling pain when she is lowering her head due to the discharges... is it hapening before the epileptic atack?

  • Petite Mal seizures

  • Its just me, but I have seen such events in humans. I am a current dog owner and have not had this misfortune. But your love seems to be showing myoclonic seizure activity. Notice her eyes, and the loss of muscle control as she stood. Its something we evaluate seizure patients for, as a precursor to an epileptic event.

  • You may well be right. She had a full epileptic fit 3 weeks ago, which ended with one of her usual 'swooping' attacks. She then went 18 days before having a usual attack. This suggests the 'swooping' attack is a form of epilepsy, although vets and neurologist say it is nothing like it.

  • To Wolfnigth: La conforto y abrazo siempre durante un ataque. Tuve que filmarla para ver si cualquier persona podria ayudarnos. Yo la adora mucho

  • Thanks for that. She is already on a very natural diet, home made, no additives, everything is fresh. The only thing I've found that sometimes seemed to trigger an attack was fish oil.

  • I've actually seen another Boykin Spaniel (and other breeds) do something very similar, though not this repetitive. The Boykin I've seen do this was put on a very strict diet eliminating anything that could give him reflux (no corn, wheat, milk, additives, etc.) and it seemed to help a lot!

  • WARNING: frontline, advantage, advantix,b io spot and all of the other brands of flea drops used once a month on your dog.contain an insecticid which contain neurotoxins that atack the nervous system of the flea causing brain ,spinal chord injurys and death.the insecticide neruotoxin can also affect your dog causing seizure's and death. 'ive seen both of my girlfriends dogs die from flea drop medication and my dog nearly died as well from the flea drop.

  • Yes, I have heard this. I wouldn't use this on either of my dogs, especially Mouse. 'Dynamite' is a good chemical free alternative. She is still having these attacks, no better, no worse. I still think it has something to do with vaccinations

  • i have seen this kind of seizure it is a panic seizure

  • my jack russell only had a seizure a few days back.and she was in a total mess, the vet had to heavily sedate her,and she was asleep all day after that..but then she just suddenly died. And it was too soon..im pissed off...is it the vets fault or the seizire she had?@

  • shes a very preety dog

im not sure whats wrong with her tho . .

  • poor dog

  • It looks like a neurological problem but isn't like any form of epilepsy i've seen. It reminds me of videos of dogs with narcolepsy that i've seen... almost like the start of a narcoleptic attack that the dog pulls out of before it gets extreme.

  • maybe she has something wrong in her/his brain from getting her/his shots,it could've of damaged it,(

    just a random guess)

  • is she looking for something?

  • look under 'dirk's seizures' posted by frostband

  • there is another video out there of a dog who has 'repetitive jerking backwards movements',over and over again, just like your dog.just type in 'dog having seizure',and it's there somewhere.if i can find it,i'll comment back to give you the link. I hope your dog is doing okay!

  • going blind is what it seems like looking for ground toward it to see where she is and sometimes dogs are overlywhelmed by the owner they have seziours mine has em every now and then too much love?

  • just an idea. then it would look like she is dancing.

  • Dont think it needs background music, the dog is ill! You can delete mine as well if you want. Paws crossed for you Mouse x

  • its a bit boring. maybe you should add some sound and music, dont worry you can delete my comments.
