Bette Davis looks considerably more decrepit than Lillian Gish here, although she was about 15 years younger, if my arithmetic is correct. Horribly cheap score too, wouldn’t you agree? Sad thing is: this might have turned out really right if handled somewhat more scrupulously – but it somehow went for quaintly cute or whatever form of slight dishonesty you want to call this. Anyway, we barely ever get to see what time really does to bodies. If for this alone, perhaps, this was worth watching.
My all-time favorite movie! I have been to Maine - it is a beautiful, peaceful place. I adore these actresses and Vincent Price. No one will ever be able to compete with them and they will always be missed.
