It was a good fake by skeptics who attached flares to balloons to prove how people see what they want to see. They were truly UFO, in that they were unidentified flying objects, but any claims that they did anything unnatural (and UFO Hunters made a few) are incorrect. They were flares on balloons. Eskeptic has the video with the guys who did it.

@Giblet32 Thanks for clearing this one up , Seen some more on the East cost go that way also I think they made their way in front of a judge to . I don't know if it was these or another set but it happens .

Flares yea right , I saw these in the 90s hover for close to 5 mins then shoot off at a speed only made up on Si Fi shows . It was a perfectly clear beautiful night out also I could see unobstructed as far as our eyes would let us and they just shoot off in a flash .

@kentuckycowboy2 Yes what you saw in the 90's may have been UFO's but in this video it is flares on weather balloons. The 2 guys that did it have come forward and showed how they did it in a video.
