I read now on google- Luisotti is the conductor. I agree with the critics-he stole the show. But it is a wonderful cast and even the old Zeffirelli set is still effective. Thanks for posting.
@DaddyofT Nicola Luisotti is one of today's prominent young conductors, and recently installed as the new music director of the San Francisco Opera. He was, indeed, wonderful in this production. "Alla stagion dei fior" here with RV & AG, MET orchestra and Luisotti, is quite memorable.
¡Bravi! ¡Un reparto de lujo! Gheorghiu y Vargas, simplemente emocionantes. Divertidísima la Musetta de Ainhoa Arteta. ¡Ojalá publiquen esta versión en DVD!
At this point in the opera, there is nothing more left between Mimi and her lover with the flame of passion extinguished by the ravages of poverty, hunger, illness and basic human failings. The viewers should not look for passion but pathos and humanity instead. Those who are moved weep but feel relieved and content at the discovery that they can still empathize with unfortunate human situations. Those who seem to be unmoved head straight away for the toilet either to cry privately or just pee.
there is still passion there. Rodolfo doesnt want to get close to Mimi because she is dying. While mimi understands, she is still heartbroken. The passion returns when she is dying.
This is truly inspired, heartbreaking performance by the principals. With an excellent supporting cast, an unabashedly romantic pacing by the conductor and a loving support of the great MET orchestra, this La Boheme will be remembered and enjoyed for a long, long time. Thanks so much for posting this remarkable performance.

buona la recitazione di insieme.
ogni personaggio è ben fissato nella recitazione collettiva.
bella la neve che scende mentre Rodolfo è Mimmi si danno l'addio.
