My father a Marine who fought on the Philippine Islands. My father went out of Pearl Harbour. I asked my father if he ever hated the Japanese themselves? He said no! I was mad when I found out my older brother Earl Johnson died in the Bataan. My father was told they could not find the prison camp as they kept moving them and marching them through the jungles. My dad was told his brother who was in the camp, but did not come out alive, when camp was liberated. No body to buairy. RIP Uncel Earl.
Im proud to say my great uncle escaped this march and ended up serving in the army in WW2, Vietnam, and Korea. He is my insperation for joining the USMC

This spring in an Arizona high school, I am Vietnam Infantry War Veteran and was kicked out of a high school because I talked negatively about the late Emperor of Japan Hirohito. I did not single him out the two girls did. I was talking about Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito. The two girls shouted me down and accused of being racist against all Asians. They determined this without even really talking to me. I was substitute teaching. They filed a complaint and the assistant principal booted me.
Undoubtedly one of the worst atrocities committed by the Japanese during WWII. Although the argument can be made that they lacked the resources to transport the prisoners of war in a faster, safer way.
my cousin manned a machine gun outside Mcauthor's head quarters. he saw Mc. every day. he also had no respect for him after he left and didn't take the female nurses . My cousin had no respect for McAuthor. My cousin was also one of 79 out of 800 to survive the sinking of the hell ship shinyo maru. he drowned a japanese soldier and took his life jacket. made it back to the island and local philpenos hooked him and the other 78 up with the u.s. troops in mountains still fighting the enemy.

It's funny how most of the troops in WWII wanted to be shipped to the European front, instead of the Phillipines. Yet what they didn't realize was that many of the battles fought in Europe were just as horrible - freezing cold weather, paper thin uniforms, and of course a very formidable opponent - the German army. But the Phillipines are miserable in terms of weather. It's HOT and like 100% humid all the time. So I can kind of understand. I'd rather be cold than hot.

This spring in an Arizona high school, I am Vietnam Infantry War Veteran and was kicked out of a high school because I talked negatively about the late Emperor of Japan Hirohito. I did not single him out the two girls did. I was talking about Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito. The two girls shouted me down and accused of being racist against all Asians. my cousin manned a machine gun outside Mcauthor's head quarters. he saw Mc. every day. he also had no respect for him after he left and didn't take the female nurses . My cousin had no respect for McAuthor. My cousin was also one of 79 out of 800 to survive the sinking of the hell ship shinyo maru. he drowned a japanese soldier and took his life jacket. made it back to the island and local philpenos hooked him and the other 78 up with the u.s. troops in mountains still fighting the enemy.

The Japanese never signed the Geneva convention; it gave a gentlemans rules that they are fighting for their country and if taken in combat it was understood certain civil behavior towards the taken POWs. The Japanese never agreed to this....they believed that Hirohito was a living God...would die for him and all other races were inferior. One MUST understand their enemy to win any war...and fight in a way that brings home their defeat.

He would tell me stories about how the Japs you come along riding in a car with a sword out the window, beheading random people. or how they would beat him senseless with a whip when he was a POW. how he would have to be their slave, working 15 hours a day, with little food

Japanese reported that they captured 80000 prisoners ,and all dead of
prisoners were 2300(only 3 %!) and 20000(include American) escaped.
If Japanese had a motivation for massacre, most of prisoners would be killed.
In additon ,most of casualities were terribly injured because of battle.
To be sure,some of them could have survived if they had taken a great treatment.
But I think it was hard for poor japan.

It's funny how most of the troops in WWII wanted to be shipped to the European front, instead of the Phillipines. Yet what they didn't realize was that many of the battles fought in Europe were just as horrible - freezing cold weather, paper thin uniforms, and of course a very formidable opponent - the German army. But the Phillipines are miserable in terms of weather. It's HOT and like 100% humid all the time. So I can kind of understand. I'd rather be cold than hot.

They knew the islands, the terrain, and the locations of the enemies. Not to mention they gladly threw themselves into battle for freedom. Why are you calling them scum? There's a book you should read, I have read it over 3 times - It's called Raider, by Charles Sasser. I think everyone here should read it.
